A couple living in Marbella, Spain, is reeling from shock and fear after discovering that a burglar not only stole from their home—but repeatedly crept into their bedroom to ogle at a naked woman as she slept. The chilling incident, caught on home surveillance footage, has sparked a police investigation, though the intruder remains at large.
Disturbing Footage Shows Repeated Voyeurism
The woman and her partner realised something was amiss when they found €300 (about S$450) missing from their home. Upon reviewing the security footage, they were horrified to witness a masked man wandering through the house, pausing to look directly into one of the surveillance cameras before making his way into their bedroom.
Armed with a torch, the burglar illuminated the woman’s nude body as she lay asleep. Rather than making a quick getaway, the footage reveals he left and re-entered the bedroom eight times—each time apparently returning just to stare at her.
At one point, the woman stirred in her sleep, prompting the man to briefly retreat. However, the couple remained largely unaware of the incident at the time, as they were both in deep sleep after returning from Germany, where her partner had taken part in a martial arts tournament.
Victim Speaks Out: “He Didn’t Come to Steal, He Came for Me”
@cbsnews A couple in Marbella have released chilling security footage showing a masked burglar who entered their home, shining a flashlight over the woman’s body as she slept. After noticing they were missing about $350, the couple checked their CCTV footage, only to make a far more disturbing discovery — a masked man who had stood over them as they slept. Alex Varona, the woman's partner, told local media that police said these kinds of robberies are common, but the “sick behavior” the intruder displayed, they said, is not. #spain #marbella #crime #crimetok ♬ original sound – cbsnews
Speaking to local media, the woman expressed her belief that the intruder had more sinister intentions than theft. “That man didn’t come to my house to steal, he came to do something to me. I was alone the night before. What if he’d come then?” she said, adding that the man’s focus on her body rather than valuables made his motive disturbingly clear.
Despite having access to other items, the only thing the burglar took was the cash. However, the psychological toll has been far greater than the monetary loss.
Living in Fear and Seeking Therapy
Since the incident, the woman has been left traumatised. She now sleeps with all windows and doors locked, and has even swapped sleeping positions with her partner so he is closer to the door. Nevertheless, she continues to suffer from recurring nightmares and has begun psychological counselling to help cope with the emotional fallout.
The couple released the surveillance footage to aid police efforts in identifying the suspect. As of now, local authorities are actively investigating, but no arrests have been made.
This case highlights a disturbing trend where victims of burglary face not just loss of property, but lasting emotional and psychological harm—especially when the crime involves voyeurism and potential sexual intent.
