A Bangladeshi worker was killed on Wednesday after being hit on the head by a steel beam that he was repositioning.
The steel beam had toppled and hit him on the head, according to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) yesterday (28 April).
The fatal accident occurred at 7A Neythal Road in Boon Lay at about 2pm, and it is the 7th workplace death that occurred this month.
MOM said that the victim, a 42-year-old Bangladeshi worker, was repositioning steel beams to prepare it for storage and transportation.
He was trying to secure a lifting clamp onto one of the steel beams when it suddenly toppled towards him, hitting him on the head.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
MOM added that the worker’s employer, Ace Surface Treatment, has been told to stop all repositioning works for steel beams, and that investigation are ongoing.
