The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has said that they will be suspending the license of a Xing Ji Wanton Mee located at Blk 137 Tampines Street 11 #01-35 for a period of two weeks from 16 Nov 2021 to 29 Nov 2021 under the Points Demerit System.
This is because the licensee (Xing Ji Wanton Mee) has chocked up 12 demerit points over a period of 12 months, receiving a fine of $1,000 and given demerit points for certain offences.
The offences committed by Xing Ji are:
1. Failure to register their assistant – 6 points
2. Not preparing food intended for sales in their licensed premises – 6 points.
Based on previous records, licensees who accumulates 12 or more demerit points in a 12 month period are subjected for suspension of two to four weeks or in the worst case scenario, have their licenses cancelled.
Food handlers working for the affected licensees will also need to go and retake and pass the basic Food Safety Course Level 1 before they can go back to work as food handlers.
The SFA has reiterated that they will take firm action against these offenders and would like to remind food handlers to practice and observe good food and personal hygiene all the time and to only employ registered food handlers for work.
Members of the public are also urged to report on eating establishments who do not practice good food and personal hygiene via their feedback form online and avoid dining at such establishments.
Alternatively, the public can also reach out to SFA with details via landline to the SFA Contact Centre at 68052871.
