A Singaporean woman, Haslinda Sham, shared in a Facebook post that her family went to Johor and their passport was allegedly not stamped at the Malaysian customs.
She was travelling into Johor with three other family members on 4 June, and they were travelling in a car through the Causeway, according to Mothership.
The family then went to one of the immigration booths at the Sultan Iskandar CIQ Complex and handed their passports to the customs officer.
Listening for stamping sounds
Haslinda’s husband was alert and was listening for the “THUB” sound of their passports being stamped because he was the driver and the one closest to the officer.
The officer then returned their passports and the husband then drove forward, but then stopped about 5-6 metres away from the booth to check their passports.
Haslinda told Mothership that she felt “uneasy” that day and reminded her family to check their passports, and she then discovered that it was not stamped.
They then returned to the same officer and got their passport stamped after that.
“Bochup” attitude
Haslinda told Mothership that the customs officer was allegedly not apologetic about the incident and also nonchalant about it.
She then posted about her experience on Facebook and reminded other Singaporeans to check their passports once they exit JB’s immigration counters.
Other netizens then commented and shared that they also had similar experiences, with one netizen claiming that they are allegedly doing it on purpose, and that “I (the netizen) was scolded for not checking and was threatened with a fine.”
