According to a media release, a 17-year-old YP has reportedly bitten a police officer in the arm and chest in an attempt to escape arrest.
The officer was later said to have sustained a spinal cord injury and bite wound which requires 30 days of hospitalisation leave. The YP pleaded guilty to causing hurt to stop a public servant from performing his duty. He was also guilty of consuming methamphetamine as well.
The incident happened earlier this year in August, the police officer who was a full-time national serviceman was patrolling with his partner at Redhill.
They come across the duo in a lift of a HDB block. While they were in the lift with the duo, the officers noticed the nervousness of the duo and performed a check on them. It was then the officers found drug-taking utensils in their possession.
The duo was arrested and escorted out of the lift for further inspection. While the officers are searching the YP’s cousin, he attempted an escape. Thankfully, the NSF officer managed to stop him in time and pinned him to the ground.
However, the YP put up another struggle while he was on the ground and it was when the NSF police officer was injured. The YP was later arrested after the police backup arrived.
