The Singapore Police Force (SPF) arrested two 16-year-old teenagers for criminal intimidation, after they used a toy gun and pointed it at a staff working at a retail outlet in Yishun.
The two boys had planned to scare the staff with the replica gun as part of a “prank” and recorded the incident, causing alarm to the staff before laughing and revealing that the gun was fake.
The toy gun, their attires and the phone that was used to record the prank were all seized by the police.

The Police have arrested two 16-year-old male teenagers for their suspected involvement in a case of Criminal Intimidation at a retail outlet involving the use of a toy gun.

On 17 April 2023 at 7.04am, the Police received a call for assistance for a case where a toy gun was pointed at a staff of a retail outlet along Ylshun Street 22.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the teenagers involved and arrested them within three hours of the report.
The toy gun, attire of the teenagers and a handphone that was used to record the prank, were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

Preliminary Investigations revealed that the teenagers had purportedly hatched a plan to scare the staff with the toy gun for fun.
One of the teenager had allegedly approached the cashier counter to make payment for an Item, and after the staff had scanned the item, he took out a toy gun and pointed It at the staff. The other teenager had recorded the Incident.
Upon hearing the staff shouting, they started laughing and revealed that the gun was fake.
The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts that cause unnecessarily alarm towards the general public.
