YPs CAN’T READ CHINESE, SINGING NONSENSE IN KTV PUB

A man shared a story stating that he realised that the younger generation has a poor command of the Chinese language and it is getting bad to worse.

He wishes that more young people can at least read and speak their own mother tongue and not make a fool of themselves.

Here is the story:

I am born in the 80s and my command of the Chinese language is better compared to people of my age, I’m aware that the 90s and millenniums have very poor standards but I did not expect it to be that bad.

I was drinking in Tai Seng at this typical karaoke pub with a few friends. Soon after the tables were taking turns singing Chinese songs.

While they were singing, I was watching the TV and reading what words were they actually singing and 50% of the song they can’t read it was just making sounds to cover up the parts they can’t read.

At first, I thought it was maybe just one table or one guy that is lousy.

Turn out it is all of the tables with younger guys and girls that have this problem, at least 8 tables.

I’m not trying to be a busybody or what, I kept quiet and laugh in the background.

Im just astounds that the number of locals who have problems reading their own mother tongue.

I have a Malay friend of the same age and he told me that the younger generation also same problem, not just Chinese kids.

I wish all Singaporeans, whatever race you are. Don’t forget to learn your own language.

By singing in a public karaoke loudly and not knowing how to read it is like making a fool of yourself, Imagine if there were tourists from China or Malaysia who was there.

How would that potray our country?
