According to AsiaOne, the incident took place on 11 January, and the girl was rescued from the reservoir and sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital before she was subsequently arrested under the Mental Health Act.

Shin Min Daily News reported that there at least 7 police vehicles and three SCDF vehicles were present at the scene, with more than 20 officers from both the SCDF and SPF being deployed on a search for the girl that lasted more than 30 minutes.

A fishing enthusiast found a pair of shoes and a phone that morning before spotting her sitting by the coast of Seletar Fishing Village, and the authorities searched for her along the village and dam for about half an hour before finally finding her.

Conditions In The Waters

The reservoir, known for its tranquillity, faced choppy waters on that fateful day due to the strong winds, intensifying the challenges of the rescue mission.

Adding to the complexities of the incident, the area where the girl was rescued, was very secluded and the only people around were fishing enthusiasts.

According to a worker who was nearby at the time, he told reporters that at about 1.30pm in the afternoon, she saw an ambulance stopped beside the dam on the road.

Another witness, 35-year-old Mr Christopher, told AsiaOne that he was cycling at the time when he also saw police officers at the scene.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed the incident and said that they received a call for help on 11 January in the afternoon at Yishun Avenue 1, and they sent an 18-year-old girl to the hospital.

The Singapore Police Force also confirmed the incident and added that they have arrested her under the Mental Health Act.
