
A 25-year-old serial scammer was sentenced to 9 months and 6 weeks jail earlier today after he was found guilty of scamming a number of victims.
Some of the scam involved accomplices and some were carried out by himself.
Scam 1: Sign phone line “get cash”
Putting up fake advertising and claiming “fast cash”, he performed the cash by persuading victims to sign up handphone lines for him. After signing the lines and getting the phone he would leave the victims with huge monthly bills.
Scam 2: Entry and Concert Tickets
On Carousell he tried to sell non-existent Universal Studio tickets and concert tickets to Bruno Mars concert. None of the victims received the merchandise after paying him money.
Scam 3: Traffic Accident Scam
Sim was involved in a traffic accident and decided to perform fraudulent insurance claims. Earning him S$10,000 dollars.
Scam 4: Expose Guy’s Secret
He makes friend with a guy on Instagram and later threatened to expose the man’s sexual orientation by using conversation screenshots as prove. He told the man to transfer him S$100, and the payment was made.
He pleaded guilty and said his wife is pregnant.
