MAN SHOT DEAD BY POLICE FOR KNIFE ATTACK NOT LINKED TO TERRORISM

A man was shot dead by police on 14 February following a knife attack at the Paris’ Gare du Nord station, according to Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, the Transport Minister of France, who was speaking to RMC radio.

He added that the incident was not related to terrorism and that the man who attacked the police had died on the spot.

The man was reportedly known to the police for hanging around Gare du Nord and the incident was not thought to be related to terrorists.

Two of the police officers reportedly sustained minor injuries.

The incident at Gare du Nord has also caused major traffic disruptions, as it is one of the biggest train stations in Europe and connects train services to Britain and Belgium.

The Interior Minister of France, Gerald Darmanin, added that the incident happened at about 71m on Valentine’s Day and that no members of the public were hurt in the attack.
