i had my first experience as a guy alone walking at night and can’t get over the guilt I feel right now.
Sorry in advance I don’t post ever really and idk if there’s a format people prefer, anyways.
I’m 18M, and I don’t really get out much. I get home really late at night after a long bus ride, and every time I walk by a woman I think “I hope I’m not making her uncomfortable,”
bc I’m a big guy walking down the street in a big puffy dark jacket. I can see how it’d feel intimidating.
So I get off the bus at the same time as this woman, and she’s crossing the same street I always do to get home. And holy crap she was so anxious. Constantly looking over her shoulder at me, and I’m just trying to figure out how to solve it.
Do I try and say something? Will that scare her more? Walk slower? No that didn’t work. The bus across the street pulls up and she makes a mad dash to it. I don’t blame her at all.
I just feel this mix of shame and guilt in myself and a sort of pity and worry for her for having to ever feel like that. Is there something I can do better in the future?
Sorry I just wanted to vent, it’s just on constant repeat in my mind right now.
