Phoon Chiu Yoke, 54-years-old, or more infamously known as the “MBS Badge Lady” for her refusal to wear a mask at MBS and subsequent antics, was spotted by influencer Xiaxue, roaming the streets of Orchard Road on 6 March.
She was seen without her mask on again, strolling behind Xiaxue as she was conducting interviews with passers-by outside what appears to be Mandarin Gallery.
STB investigating
The director of safe management measures operations as the Singapore Tourism Board, Serene Tan, said that they are aware of the alleged incident and that they are conducting investigations into it.
She said that the STB takes a serious view of any breach in safe management measures, and that they will not hesitate to take enforcement actions for non-compliance.
Potential penalties
For non-compliance with safe management measures under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.
If they are caught for not wearing a mask or not wearing a mask properly they can be charged under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.
Penalties include a fine of up to SGD$10,000 and jail for up to six months.
