A video emerged online showing a hit and run accident that happened between an SUV and another parked car.

The incident happened on 10 March at about 12.23pm, at Kempas Road; and it was captured on the dashcam of the parked vehicle.

The offending vehicle, a white Honda Odyssey, was seen in the video trying to reverse into a parking spot.

The Honda then hit the car that was parked, resulting in a loud thud being captured on the dashcam.

The Honda driver then alighted from his vehicle to assess for damages after hitting the parked car, but he didn’t do anything else and walked away as though nothing happened.

Here is what the owner of the parked car said:

“Got hit by a car trying to reverse park. Driver came down to check for damages after hitting my car, and decided to just walk away.

I have already made a police report and insurance claim. I hope you can help me put this video out there for more people to be aware of hit and run drivers.”

Potential penalties

It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.
