Jack Neo’s sequel to his Ah Girls Go Army movie, titled Ah Girls Go Army Again, was released in cinemas yesterday (16 June).
Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao, Neo expressed his concerns about the criticism for the first movie possibly affecting the turnout for the sequel.
He added that although he is a little worried, he is “very confident” that Ah Girls Go Army Again will do well in theatres.
Addressing the criticism and flak that the first movie received, he said that many people lost their jobs in the pandemic and the movie series has created a lot of job opportunities.
Neo then appealed to the public, “don’t scold us anymore, we created 400 jobs for people who lost their jobs in the pandemic by making these movies”.
The first Ah Girls Go Army movie grossed more than S$2 million in Singapore, and RM1.5 million in Malaysia and Brunei.
Neo is hoping that the sequel can cross the S$3 million mark.
