48 Y.O ARRESTED – THREW OBJECT THAT PRODUCED LOUD BANG & SMOKE @ JURONG WEST PLAYGROUND

The Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for public nuisance after he allegedly threw an object which produced a loud bang and smoke at a Playground located along Jurong West Street 42.

The unidentified object made a deafening sound and produced white smoke.

The Object

According to Shin Min Daily News, The incident happened on Thursday (July 28) at about 3.48pm. 

While a group of children were playing at the playground at Block 453, Jurong West Street 42, a man suddenly threw an unidentified object towards them.

According to a 10-year-old boy, he told Shin Min Daily News: “The five of us were playing at the playground when the man suddenly threw the object in our direction and landed about 2 to 3 meters away from me. “

Another 10-year-old boy who was on the scene told Shin Min Daily News: “I vaguely saw him throw a blue-green object the size of a palm, and then smoke came out in front of our eyes, and the explosion was much louder than the fireworks that are usually played during the New Year.”

He also said: “I don’t know if we accidentally bumped into him during the play and thus offended him.”

In a reply to Lianhe Zaobao, police said authorities received a report at 3.48 pm on Thursday.

Police have arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of public nuisance, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Potential Penalties

The offence of public nuisance under Section 290(b) of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term of up to three months, or with a fine of up to $2,000, or both.
