The food delivery workers of Grab and Foodpanda food delivery platforms launched a strike action yesterday (Aug 4) to fight for their rights.
Grab and Foodpanada riders in Malaysia went on a strike as they are angry at their S$1.55 wage for delivering food.
It is reported that the food delivery workers of Grab Food gathered in various places in Klang Valley this afternoon and went to the Grab headquarters together to protest.
Grab also privately sent emails to its employees, drivers and deliverymen. In view of the possible protests this afternoon, Grab recommends their office employees to work from home; if drivers and deliverymen need to work in the company, also remember to not wear any coats or clothing with the Grab logo for safety reasons.

Strike coordinated on social media
According to the strike action scheduled which was circulated on the Internet, a group of Grab food delivery workers plan to take place at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Plaza in Subang City, IOI Shopping Plaza in Putrajaya, EKO Shopping Plaza in Cheras, and Lotus Hypermarket in Ampang City. Melawati Plaza, Wanda Shopping Plaza, KLCC, Shihe Shopping Center and Bukit Bintang Pavilion Shopping Mall and many other places.
One of the strike organisers said:
“Don’t be afraid of fake FB psychos saying you will be banned for joining the strike… You only turn off apps, what’s the proof from them that you join the strike? Did you come out at the apps or did you join the strike? We have a mind, think well, don’t be consumed by their psychos that you will be banned…”
