WOMAN WITH KNIFE SURROUNDED BY POLICE OFFICERS OUTSIDE ST HILDA’S SEC SCHOOL

A video of a woman getting surrounded by Police officers was uploaded to social media.

The woman who was carrying a knife was seen shouting at officers and refused to cooperate with the Police outside St Hilda’s Secondary School (Along Tampines Street 82).

The incident took place earlier today (Sept 19) at around 6.50 PM.

In the video, the woman had blood on her abdomen area and Police officers were shouting at her to drop the knife. At least 6-7 Police officers were on the scene.

At least 20 people were standing across the road and looking at the incident.

Officers were seen armed with rifles and shields telling the woman to stop. The commotion lasted at least 15 minutes.

According to CNA, the woman accidentally dropped her penknife and the officers took the chance to pin the woman down.

She was later sent to Changi General Hospital.

A pen knife was seized as case exhibit.

At exactly, 4min and 17 seconds into the video, the woman dropped the knife and an officer quickly move in and kicked the woman.

Other officers rushed in to arrest the woman.

Potential Penalties

  • Possession of offensive weapons under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act and mischief under Section 426 of the Penal Code. The offence of possession of offensive weapon carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, and caning of not less than 6 strokes. The offence of mischief carries an imprisonment term of up to 2 years, a fine, or both.
  • Anyone found guilty of the offence of public nuisance under Section 290 of the Penal Code 1871 will be liable for a fine which may extend to $2,000. In the case where the offender knew that the act or omission constituting the public nuisance will cause or will probably cause any common injury, danger or annoyance to the public, the offender may be liable upon conviction to an imprisonment term which may extend to three months, a fine which may extend to $2,000, or both.
