A Scoot flight that was heading to Singapore, had departed from the Amritsar airport 4 hours earlier due to the adverse weather conditions.

Scoot said that the passengers were informed of the flight time being changed from 7.55pm to 3.45pm via email and/or SMSes.

And because a booking agent didn’t inform the passengers of the change in flight time, it resulted in 29 passengers missing the flight and being stranded in India.

Scoot has since apologised to the passengers and is working to provide them with a refund or rebooking of other flights.

Scoot said that they were aware of the incident where the passengers missed their Scoot flight TR509 on 18 January, where 263 passengers boarded the flight.

The plane landed in Singapore at about 12.39am.

The booking agents had informed their clients of the change in flight time, except for one agent who didn’t “for reasons best known to him”.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation in India has ordered a probe into the incident and will be holding those responsible, accountable.

Scoot said that they “sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
