MOTORCYCLIST BEATS RED LIGHT & CRASHES INTO INNOCENT RIDER, STAND THERE ACT BLUR

A video emerged online showing an errant motorcyclist beating the red light at a traffic junction along Loyang Avenue.

The incident happened on 9 February at about 1.11pm.

The motorcyclist was seen in the video continuing to ride forward despite the traffic light being red and the other vehicles coming to a stop.

Another motorcyclist was making a right turn from the opposite side of the road and was caught by surprise by the errant motorcyclist, and ended up being hit.

Both motorcycles then crashed on the road, as the errant motorcyclist then got up and stood in front of the wreckage, and could be seen gesturing apologetically at the other motorcyclist.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
