Jetstar flight 3K516 from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok to Singapore was delayed for more than 24 hours on Mar. 13, leaving 161 passengers stranded at the airport for hours.
The flight was initially scheduled to take off at 1:35pm, but it was delayed until 5:20pm due to “some technical issues.” However, at 5:20pm, the flight was still delayed, and passengers were informed that they would have to wait for the captain to tell them if the flight was cancelled at 10pm.
Passengers were left without any information from the airport staff, causing panic and chaos. One passenger described the ordeal as “just madness”, pointing out that the airport staff was overwhelmed “with just too many things.”
The flight was eventually cancelled, and passengers were offered accommodation, transportation and meal vouchers. Passengers who no longer wished to fly with Jetstar were also given the option of a full refund.
Travel insurance is an essential aspect of planning any trip, whether it’s for business or pleasure. It provides financial protection and assistance in case of unexpected events that may occur during the trip, such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, lost or stolen luggage, and flight delays or cancellations.
One of the most significant benefits of travel insurance is coverage for trip cancellations or interruptions. If a traveler needs to cancel their trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injury, or death of a family member, travel insurance can reimburse the non-refundable costs of the trip. Similarly, if a trip is interrupted due to an emergency, travel insurance can cover the additional costs of returning home or continuing the trip.
Another critical aspect of travel insurance is coverage for medical emergencies. Travelers can face high medical bills if they become ill or injured while abroad, especially in countries with high healthcare costs. Travel insurance can cover these medical expenses, including hospital stays, doctor visits, and prescription medications.
Travel insurance can also provide coverage for lost or stolen luggage. If a traveler’s luggage is lost, stolen, or delayed, travel insurance can reimburse the cost of replacing essential items such as clothing, toiletries, and electronics.
Flight delays and cancellations are also covered by travel insurance. If a flight is delayed or cancelled, travel insurance can reimburse the costs of meals, accommodation, and transportation during the delay.
