Drunk Thai Woman Taken Home by Stranger, Blames Restaurant Owner & Stabs Her

Woman in Thailand Fatally Stabs Restaurant Owner Over Drunken Dispute

A shocking incident in Thailand has left a community reeling after a woman allegedly stabbed a restaurant owner to death, blaming her for not stopping her from leaving with a man while intoxicated.

According to Thai media, 32-year-old Ms Jaruwan was arrested on 21 August in Kamphaeng Phet province for the murder of 62-year-old Ms Meena, the owner of a local eatery. Police reports revealed that the dispute may have stemmed from an incident three nights earlier, when Ms Jaruwan accused the victim of allowing her to leave with a stranger while she was heavily drunk.

Eyewitnesses, however, painted a very different picture. Restaurant staff insisted that Ms Meena had actually tried to help by offering a safe room for the suspect to rest, but the offer was rejected.

Argument Turns Deadly

On the evening of the killing, Ms Jaruwan had stopped by the restaurant for a drink. What began as a heated exchange quickly spiralled out of control when she drew a knife and attacked the elderly owner.

Relatives nearby rushed in to stop the assault, but by then, the damage had been done. Ms Meena succumbed to her injuries despite emergency assistance. CCTV footage later led investigators to the suspect’s home, where she was taken into custody.

Authorities have charged Ms Jaruwan with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, while also probing her claims of sexual assault linked to the earlier incident.

Earlier Incident Raises Questions

Investigations revealed that on 18 August, CCTV cameras had captured Ms Jaruwan drinking at the same restaurant before a man joined her. Around 11pm, the pair left together on his motorcycle, heading in a direction away from her home.

The suspect later accused the restaurant owner of neglecting her safety, claiming she should have intervened. But staff contradicted her version, stating she had consumed at least six bottles of alcohol, was vomiting, and rolling on the floor. Despite concerns for her wellbeing, she had refused Ms Meena’s offer to rest in her son’s vacant room.

Police are continuing investigations into whether she was assaulted after leaving with the man, but they emphasised that this did not justify her violent act.

Ms Jaruwan now faces severe penalties under Thai law, with her case expected to draw widespread attention in the weeks ahead.
