The incident reportedly occurred in the vicinity of Taman Rapat Perdana, where members of the public noticed unusual activity around an electricity pole and alerted authorities. The case has since drawn attention not only for its fatal outcome but also for the risks tied to tampering with high-voltage infrastructure.

Public Tip-Off Leads to Grim Discovery

Police were notified at around 10am after passers-by reported suspicious behaviour involving an electrical pole owned by Tenaga Nasional Berhad. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene following the call.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered three men lying motionless near the pole. Preliminary checks confirmed that all three individuals had died at the scene. The victims, believed to be locals aged between 35 and 50, were later identified as having likely suffered fatal electric shocks.

Initial investigations suggest the men had been attempting to cut or remove electrical cables when the electrocution occurred. Such infrastructure typically carries high-voltage currents, making any unauthorised interference extremely hazardous.

Authorities Probe Attempted Theft Case

The bodies were subsequently transported to the forensic department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for post-mortem examinations. These procedures are expected to confirm the precise cause of death, although early findings strongly point to electrocution.

Police have classified the case under attempted theft, invoking relevant provisions of Malaysian law. At the same time, it has also been recorded as a sudden death report pending further investigation.

Growing Concerns Over Cable Theft Risks

Cable theft remains a recurring issue in parts of Malaysia, often driven by the resale value of copper and other materials. However, incidents like this underscore the severe risks involved—not only to those committing the act but also to surrounding communities, as damaged infrastructure can lead to power outages or even fires.

Authorities have reiterated warnings to the public against engaging in such illegal activities. Apart from legal consequences, the dangers posed by live electrical systems can be immediate and fatal, as seen in this case.

Members of the public with any information have been urged to assist investigations by contacting local police. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly unlawful actions involving critical infrastructure can turn deadly.
