CCK Stabbing: Man, 22, To Be Charged With Murder After Woman, 21, Found Dead

A 22-year-old man is set to be charged with murder after a 21-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death at a residential block in Choa Chu Kang.

The incident took place at Block 248 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2 on the night of May 26, shocking residents in the area.

According to the Singapore Police Force, officers received a call for assistance at around 8:55pm.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying motionless at the lift lobby on the 12th floor of the block.

She was later pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Suspect Allegedly Jumped From Higher Floor

The 22-year-old suspect was arrested following the incident and subsequently conveyed to hospital.

Reports indicated that the man allegedly jumped from the 18th floor after the stabbing incident.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the man and woman were known to each other.

Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Zaobao reported that the pair were believed to be a couple.

The suspect is expected to be formally charged in court on May 28.

Murder Charge Carries Death Penalty

Under Singapore law, the offence of murder carries the death penalty.

Police investigations into the case are still ongoing.

The case has drawn widespread attention online, with many Singaporeans expressing shock over the fatal incident occurring within a residential neighbourhood in Choa Chu Kang.

Residents in the area reportedly saw a heavy police presence at the block following the incident, with officers cordoning off parts of the scene as investigations were carried out late into the night.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the alleged stabbing.
