Man, 48, Left Unconscious After Alleged Group Assault at Yishun Car Park
A 48-year-old man was taken to hospital after allegedly being assaulted by a group of five to six individuals at an open-air car park in Yishun on the night of Jul. 24.
The incident reportedly took place near Block 243 Yishun Ring Road at around 8pm. Police officers were dispatched after receiving reports of a fight in the area.
When officers arrived, they found the man lying unconscious in a nearby car park. He was subsequently conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical treatment. The suspects had allegedly fled the scene before the police arrived, and investigations are currently underway to identify and locate those involved.
Bloodstains and Debris Found at the Scene
According to witnesses, the aftermath of the assault left behind clear signs of a violent confrontation. A pool of blood was reportedly found near the motorcycle parking bays, while debris, a detached shoe sole and several cigarette butts were scattered around the area.
The police cordoned off the scene for approximately two hours while officers carried out investigations and gathered evidence. The cordon was lifted at around 11pm after forensic examinations were completed.
Authorities have not disclosed what may have triggered the attack, and no arrests have been announced so far. Police are continuing efforts to trace the individuals believed to have been involved in the assault.
Residents Describe Brutal Attack
A resident living nearby told local Chinese-language media that he noticed a group of people gathered near the car park and suspected an argument had escalated into a fight.
Another resident, aged 18, said he heard loud noises from below his flat and looked out of his window, where he allegedly witnessed several people surrounding a man before repeatedly punching and kicking him.
According to the witness, the victim eventually collapsed onto the ground and appeared unable to defend himself, while the attackers continued the assault. Moments later, a man from a neighbouring block reportedly rushed over and attempted to wake the victim, who appeared to have already lost consciousness.
Police Appeal Continues
A staff member working at a nearby convenience store said a female police officer had approached her during the investigation to ask whether she had seen a blond-haired man passing through the area.
The Singapore Police Force has confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing and officers are working to trace the remaining individuals believed to have been involved in the assault.
The incident has shocked residents in the normally quiet neighbourhood, with many expressing concern over the level of violence involved. Anyone with information that could assist investigations is encouraged to contact the police.
