Singapore-Based Company Executive Suspected of Being Chinese Spy Targeting Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

US Intelligence Suspects Chinese Executive at Singapore-Based Company of Targeting Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

US intelligence officials have reportedly raised concerns that a Chinese executive working for a Singapore-based data centre company may have developed a close relationship with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang as part of an alleged intelligence-gathering operation.

The executive, identified as Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le, is a Chinese national working for Megaspeed, a company that has faced allegations of helping divert advanced Nvidia artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China.

According to a report by The New York Times (NYT), American intelligence agencies believe Alice Huang may be a Chinese intelligence asset who has cultivated a relationship with Jensen Huang over the past two years.

US officials are reportedly concerned that the relationship could potentially expose sensitive information about Nvidia, the American technology industry and even US President Donald Trump.

However, the allegations have not been independently established, and Beijing has strongly rejected claims of an espionage operation.

Female Executive Reportedly Seen With Jensen Huang Multiple Times

The NYT reported that Alice Huang’s background remains relatively obscure, although she was previously believed to have worked as a journalist before moving into private banking in China.

She subsequently became a senior executive at Megaspeed, although her precise position within the company remains unclear.

Despite sharing the same surname, Alice Huang and Jensen Huang are not related.

One reported encounter took place in June 2024, following a technology trade show in Taipei.

According to the report, Alice Huang was socialising with several technology executives at a bar when she reportedly told another executive, Parker Schmitt, that she could get Jensen Huang to join them.

She allegedly said: “I bet you guys I can get Jensen here.”

Jensen Huang subsequently appeared and joined the group for drinks, including whiskey.

The pair were reportedly seen together again in May 2025, leaving a restaurant in Taipei following a business dinner involving other AI industry suppliers.

US intelligence officials are said to have monitored their interactions and believe the relationship warrants further scrutiny.

Why Is Washington Concerned About Their Relationship?

American intelligence agencies are reportedly worried that Alice Huang could potentially obtain sensitive information through her proximity to the Nvidia chief executive.

Jensen Huang has become an influential figure in Washington because of Nvidia’s dominance in the global AI chip market and its importance to America’s technology and national security interests.

He has also personally met Trump to lobby for permission for Nvidia to sell certain advanced chips to China.

According to the NYT report, Nvidia subsequently donated at least US$20 million, approximately S$25.5 million, to Trump’s White House ballroom fund.

Jensen Huang was also reportedly present at a table during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the US in September 2026.

American intelligence officials were concerned that someone with access to Jensen Huang could potentially obtain information about discussions involving the US administration, Nvidia’s business strategy and sensitive AI-related policies.

The report also claimed that intelligence officials had briefed Trump about the possible espionage concerns surrounding Jensen Huang, although Trump reportedly chose not to take action.

Singapore-Based Megaspeed Faces Allegations Over AI Chip Shipments

Megaspeed is described as a data centre operator that purchases advanced computing equipment and rents out processing capacity to customers in different countries, including China.

However, the company has come under scrutiny amid allegations that Nvidia AI chips purchased through its business network could eventually be diverted to China.

The US has imposed restrictions on the export of certain advanced AI chips to China, citing concerns over national security and the potential military applications of the technology.

According to the NYT, a sister company linked to Megaspeed purchased at least US$4.8 billion, or approximately S$6.13 billion, worth of advanced AI equipment between 2024 and 2026.

An American investigation into a Megaspeed data centre in Malaysia in 2024 reportedly found that equipment purchased for the facility remained in boxes and had not been installed.

Investigators reportedly viewed this as a potential indication that the equipment was intended to be shipped elsewhere rather than used at the facility.

Singapore authorities also investigated Megaspeed in 2025, with Alice Huang reportedly brought in for questioning before subsequently being released.

Nvidia Denies Special Relationship With Megaspeed

Nvidia has pushed back against the allegations, maintaining that Megaspeed is simply another regional customer.

Company spokesman John Rizzo said meetings between Jensen Huang and Alice Huang were not unusual, explaining that meeting customers was part of the Nvidia CEO’s responsibilities.

He also rejected suggestions that Nvidia had a special business arrangement with Megaspeed or that the company was deliberately diverting chips to China.

Nvidia further maintained that it had verified Megaspeed did not have Chinese shareholders.

Speaking to Bloomberg on 29 October 2026, Jensen Huang said Nvidia had examined how Megaspeed was deploying its graphics processing units (GPUs).

“We’ve studied all their deployments of our GPUs and counted every one,” he said, adding that the company had concluded the chips were not being diverted to China.

Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun rejected the espionage allegations, describing the NYT report as speculation intended to smear China.

With Washington’s concerns contrasting sharply with Nvidia’s position, the allegations surrounding Megaspeed and its executive remain a sensitive issue involving Singapore’s data centre industry, US-China technology tensions and the global race for advanced artificial intelligence chips.
