3 Chinese Men Found Blindfolded & Handcuffed In Vehicle Near Thai-Myanmar Border, 4 Thais Detained
Thai police have rescued three Chinese men who were allegedly found blindfolded, handcuffed and tied up inside a vehicle in Tak Province, near the Thai-Myanmar border.
The discovery was made after officers stopped a vehicle suspected of attempting to bypass a police checkpoint.
According to a report shared by Chinese-language social media page 今日泰线, the three men were found restrained inside the vehicle when police conducted their checks.
Despite their condition, all three reportedly possessed valid passports and had entered Thailand legally.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding their transportation and whether they could have been victims of a kidnapping or human trafficking operation.
Four Thai Men Detained, Equipment Seized
Police also detained four Thai men who were travelling in connection with the vehicle.
During the operation, officers reportedly discovered several items that could have been used to restrain the victims, including handcuffs, ropes, adhesive tape and electric shock devices.
The items were seized as part of the investigation.
Authorities are now working to establish why the three Chinese nationals were being transported in such conditions and whether the four Thai men were involved in a wider criminal operation.
Police Suspect Men Could Have Been Taken Towards Myanmar
Preliminary investigations suggest that the three Chinese men may have been transported towards the Thai-Myanmar border.
The region has previously attracted international attention over concerns surrounding cross-border criminal activities, including suspected human trafficking and scam operations.
However, the exact circumstances of this particular incident have yet to be established.
Police investigations are ongoing, with officers continuing to examine the case and the possible involvement of those detained.
It remains unclear whether the three Chinese men were being held against their will, how long they had been restrained or what their intended destination was.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the identities of those involved or whether additional arrests will follow.
The case remains under investigation.
