Louise Lai Pei Hsien, a 43-year-old businesswoman set up a company known as I-KnowHow to provide services such as providing market research, web & mobile development.

She worked with 55-year-old Viktor Cheng Choong Hung, an ex-director of NTUitive which is regarded as a top post in NTU to cheat the university. I-KnowHow would tender for projects that were under NTU subsidiaries. However, I-KnowHow only dealt with NTU, citing that the company was set up with deliberate intent to only launder funds from NTU and had no intention of practising a normal business.

The plot involves transactions where multiple NTU projects were billed by I-KnowHow.

Although both of them knew that this would put Cheng to be in a position of ‘conflict of interest’, they carried on and set up the business, Cheng was not listed as a owner of the company I-KnowHow to avoid detection.

Cheng would then control the business from the background while Lai would be the face of the business.

The media reports did not mention how the cheating case was uncovered.

Louise Lai Pei Hsien was sentenced to 17 months in jail.

Viktor Cheng Choong Hung has yet to be sentenced, if convicted he can be jailed for up to 10 years and/or fine of up to $500,000.
