PM Lee gave his speech in three languages, and each time he finished his speech in each language, he would take a sip from the tea cup.
Netizens have since dubbed it the “magic language changing cup”.
As he swiftly made his speech in English, Chinese, and then Malay, he would take a sip from his essential tableware each time. It is now forever known as the magic language-changing cup.
Fast forward to the present, and PM Lee’s tea cup is still just as memorable and relevant.

Local gallery shop Supermama Store, created an exact replica, calling it “Magic, the Legendary Language-Changing Cup”, which was crafted by the local porcelain workshop’s artisans.
One of their artisans, Vera Leng, painstakingly scrolled through PM Lee’s Instagram just so she could detail the several occasions where the famous tea cup appeared.
