A man, 36, was sentenced to 17 years jail and 24 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to sexual assault by penetration of a person under the age of 14 and the outrage of modesty against a person under the age of 14.
The man who has been cohabiting with a woman, her two daughters, and son sexually assaulted the two girls on different occasions. He played a blindfold game with one of the daughters by placing his finger in something spicy in her mouth. Before that, he placed his private part in her mouth. He did this to deceive the victim into thinking that they were playing a game.
The abuse for both sisters carried on for about five years until 2017 till one of the sisters informed her school counselors. The man was then arrested.
The prosecution sought at least 17 years’ jail, arguing that the man had exploited his position of authority as a father figure.
