22 ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL GAMBLING, $6.5K CONFISCATED

According to a police media release, 15 men and 7 women were arrested on 28 Nov 2020 for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling and betting activities. It was reported that the 22 suspects were between the age of 28 to 80 years old.

It was said that out of the 22 individuals, 10 was arrested under the Betting Act while the remaining were arrested under the Common Gaming House Act.

A total of $6,500 were seized by the authorities during the operation.

Police investigations are ongoing.

According to the law, anyone convicted under the Betting Act or Common Gaming House Act could face a jail term up to 6 months, fined up to $5,000 or both.
