Amy Khor, the Senior Minister of State for Trasnport, said on a Facebook post on September 12 that private hire cars and taxi drivers will get some form of additional help even after the expiration of their Covid-19 Support Measures.
She said that the Transport Ministry is working on a package of measures to continue to help those in this industry.
She added that drivers have been raising their concerns about the upcoming expiry of their support measures and asked if they (the government) could help to safeguard the livelihoods of older drivers.
As part of the support measures earlier this year, the Special Relief Fund was set up, where cabbies and private-hrie car drivers get $300 per month unti lthe end of September.
Also, they can apply for the Self-Employed Person Income Relief Scheme, which gives those who are eligible $1,000 per month for 9 months.
