EX-WP MP LEON PERERA’S FACEBOOK GOT HACKED, 2 YEARS’ WORTH OF POSTS DELETED BY HACKERS

0

In the ever-evolving world of social media, privacy breaches and hacking incidents have become all too common. The latest individual to fall victim to such a cyberattack is none other than Leon Perera, a former Workers’ Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Aljunied Group Representation Constituency (GRC).

Hacker(s) accessed his account

On September 11, Perera posted on his Facebook page, stating that his profile had been compromised. This was the first time he had posted anything since the scandal surrounding his extramarital affair with fellow former-WP member Nicole Seah unfolded back in July 2023.

Perera, a prominent figure in Singaporean politics, had remained silent for months, making his sudden return to social media all the more intriguing.

He said that more than 2 years’ worth of his old posts on Facebook have been deleted by the hackers and he is working with Meta, who owns Facebook, to address the issue.

His last post was dated 6 July before the hacking incident and the emergence of the extra-marital affair scandal.

Leon Perera’s statement on his hacking

Just a quick note from Leon, in case some are wondering about this, to say that this page has been hacked and while I have some access, the hackers seem to be deleting the old posts on this page one by one and thus far over two years of posts have been deleted. I’m working with the team at Meta to try to address the issue.

Recap on scandal

A video emerged previously emerged online by Facebook user Victoria Wang, showing an “inappropriate exchange” between Workers’ Party senior members Leon Perera and Nicole Seah.

The two were seen in the video having dinner with what appeared to be glasses of red wine, with Perera appearing to be holding on to Seah’s right hand and stroking it gently before Seah leaned in closer to say something inaudible to him.

The Worker’s Party then held a press conference on 19 July, helmed by WP chief Pritam Singh and Sylvia Lim, addressing the extra-marital affair between WP member Nicole Seah and MP for Aljunied Leon Perera following the emergence of a video on 17 July suggesting an “inappropriate exchange” between the latter two.

Both Seah and Perera are married to other people and have two children of their own.

Singh said that he was made aware of the allegations sometime between late 2020 and early 2021 by Perera’s driver via Whatsapp, that both Seah and Perera had been meeting each other at restaurants and hotels very often, holding hands and hugging each other.

Singh said that at the time, there was no evidence or corroborating information to support the driver’s allegations and that he didn’t know Perera’s driver personally.

Initially denied the allegations

He then questioned Perera about the allegations and asked him if there was anything going on between him and Seah, Perera then denied the allegations, telling Singh that he was in the midst of an ongoing dispute with his driver and was about to terminate his services, and was seeking legal advice against his driver for the allegations.

The driver also shared the same information with other Central Executive Committee (CEC) members of the party over the next few months, with the party members seeking to verify the allegations with Perera, who once again denied the allegations.

The CEC then approached Seah about the allegations by the driver and she also denied the allegations of anything going on with Perera.

Eventually confessed to the affair

When the now-viral video of both Seah and Perera first emerged on 17 July, Singh said that it was the first time they saw it and he immediately got in touch with Perera and arranged a meeting with him in the afternoon, where he admitted to having an affair with Seah after the General Elections 2020.

Singh also arranged a separate meeting on the same afternoon with Seah where she also admitted to having an affair with Perera, but claimed that it had “stopped some time ago”.

Singh added that Perera told him that he should have been more “forthcoming” when approached by the WP members about the allegations.

Resignations

Both Seah and Perera have since resigned from the Workers’ Party, with Perera also resigning from his position as MP of Aljunied GRC.

Singh added that on 18 July, he received a letter of resignation from Seah; as well as Perera’s letter of resignation from the WP and informing the acting speaker of parliament that he was also resigning from his seat in Parliament.

He also added that Perera’s conduct and not being truthful when the party leadership asked him about the allegations were “unacceptable”, and that had he not offered his resignation, Singh would have recommended for Perera to be expelled from the party.

Singh added that from the moment the WP was made aware of the video, they moved as quickly as they could to get to the bottom of the matter and put things right.

WOMAN WORRIED OF MOVING AWAY FROM PARENTS ONCE MARRIED

0

To married females, how do you cope with the mentality of leaving your parents and starting your own family?

I’m a 26F soon to married and come from a closely knitted family, how do you guys cope with the adjustments? Even though I’m not the only child, I tend to worry about how my parents will cope once I leave the house, I have one sibling that is staying with my parents but somehow my parents trusted me more than my siblings that for any matter, they will check directly with me instead of my sibling.

I do feel bad for moving out and getting married, leaving my parents behind.

My new house is in the west area same as my parents around 8km, it’s a 15 mins drive, but 40 mins via public transport via door to door. To my parents, the distance is considered too far which they had brought it up with me before, however, my bf wanted to have a distance between our new home and my parents home. I’m actually stuck in between. On one end, I understand my parents wanted us to be as near to them as possible, on the other hand, my bf and in-laws are all moving over from the East. And this is the best distance that my bf could compromise. Is 8km really too far or is this a just nice distance?

I will wish to go back to my parents house preferably twice a week. But with kids, would this twice a week be possible?

Here are what netizens think:

  • SG is indeed small. I stay in Clementi after I got married, my parents stay in Tampines. We are also close knitted. Before kids, I head over once to twice a week for dinner with my brother and sis in law. Did the same during pregnancy, and now with a kid. No distance is too far if you are willing to accomadate.

W- ait wait…. Your in-laws are moving over = they are going to stay with you? And yet your bf expects you to keep a distance from your own parents? And still say 8km is a “compromise”?If my understanding above is correct, idk why you are marrying such a guy in the first place and why you are even giving in to such demands. The issue isn’t whether 8km is far or whether your parents can cope. Your bf’s mindset and attitude, and you giving in, is the problem.

  • I reckon your parents will be fine. They will just take care of themselves like how they always have taken care of themselves, without the kids in tow. My siblings and i have not lived with our parents for >5 years since all of us kids are now overseas. We do check in with them from time to time. But otherwise, they’re happy to be not having to check on us all the time, less worries for people at their age. But i’m sure they’ll be happy when you do surprise visits from time to time. 40 minutes isn’t that long.. compared to having to fly from a different country to visit one’s parents. See it as a privilege, not as a chore.
  • unless your parents are very old, requires support and care, i think time for them to let go and you to have your own life. i left home KL for SG at 21 years old, live alone with no relative and no friends. i survived, so did my parents and my siblings. this is part of growing up and we are also a very tight knitted family. now i already have kids in SG, and started to have my little community here. 8km is nothing, just take a grab if public commute is too long. surely 2 times of grab taxi is nothing to missing your family.

GUY ONLY ATTRACTED TO THICK & CHUBBY WOMEN, IF SKINNY HIS KKJ CANNOT STAND

0

I don’t know why, I only seek chubby/thick/fat woman. I used to tell myself that “it’s okay to have a preference”, but prefence is liking one more than the other, I don’t think I am attracted to skinny women at all

My friend said that she had a woman she wanted to introduce me and she was really pretty, smart and skinny. I wanted to give her a shot since my friend told me she was already interested in me,

We chatted, made out and I could not get hard, and now looking back this has happened to every single skinny woman I tried to sleep with. Wtf is wrong with my brain

Edit: “wft is wrong with my brain” was not the best sentence, it was just the thought that came to mind when I was with her and I was not feeling it, even thought she was all of the things I listed above.

I have talked to people about this and they have said that I am just obsessed with fat woman because I am fit. I could not quite understand what they meant by that.

I am interested in also developing a relationship and family if she is the right one. My last (and only) two girlfriends were chubby/thick/fat.

Netizens’ comments

  1. So? Lots of men aren’t attracted to skinny women. F what society thinks or says, pursue the women you want to pursue.
  2. Dogs love bones, men love meat, everyone else should deal with it.
  3. Nothing is wrong with your brain? It’s perfectly ok to be attracted to one body type. Embrace what you’re attracted to
  4. I’m not attracted to skinny men. Why should it be wrong that you are not attracted to skinny women?
  5. It’s totally cool to like what you like. It’s helpful to communicate your likes to others too. Next time your friend has someone she wants you to meet, she’ll find someone who will be a better match if she knows.

WOMAN GOT JAW PROBLEM, BF SLAPPED HER WHEN THEY PIAK PIAK & ACCIDENTALLY FIXED IT

0

This is kinda a really funny story so I thought I’d share.

For two months I was out of the country for work so that led to my boyfriend and I having to do long distance. Once I landed back home, my bf picked me up and we went to his place. Of course the tension was building up so one thing led to another and blah blah…

I like things rough and so does he and he’s been very careful of not being “too hard” since I have piercings that could potentially get snagged if he slaps me the wrong way.

But he just kinda went for it and slapped me really hard (consensual I liked it) and right at that moment my jaw hurt LIKE HELL.

genuinely was in so much pain. But whatever we still kept going. Once we were done I headed over to a mirror to see if my jaw got dislocated cuz it hurt like nothing I felt before.

I also have pre-existing jaw issues and TMJ so I’m cautious about my jaw.

BUT TO MY SURPRISE my top and bottom row of teeth were perfectly aligned!? I’ve always had my lower jaw looked shifted to the side and now it magically wasn’t?

Flash forward to 3 days later. The pain was gone and I yawned really big and I noticed that my jaw didn’t like “lock” or “click” since it used to do that.

So now I’m genuinely convinced he slapped me so hard to the point he realigned my jaw and fixed whatever jaw issue I had before that.

I am now pain free and able to yawn as big as I want.

Saved me some chiropractor money I guess lmao

Netizens’ comments

  1. It’s probably not necessary, but I would suggest getting checked out by your doctor (or whoever you’re supposed to go to for that kinda thing) just in case something is wrong. It may feel better, but the fact that he managed to alter the alignment of your jaw may be temporary or cause issues later.
  2. Something similar happened to my mom years ago. She had some water (?) stuck in her ear canals and had been having issues with dizziness and balance for months. One day she was playing with one of her nephews and he played a little too rough and boxed her ears with his hands.
She said it hurt like hell, but all of a sudden her hearing was clear and the issues she’d been having were magically fixed.
    Being human is weird.

BOSS FORCES EMPLOYEE TO TAKE A CUT SO THAT OTHERS CAN GET A RAISE

0

I feel sick about this but know I made the right decision.

My boss approached me last week after my employee review and informed me that I would be receiving a substantial raise. I was ecstatic and elated because I worked so hard last year and our profits reflected my time and hard work. My position holds equal rank to another employee at the company (we are both in top management) and for years we’ve made the same salary.

However, earlier this week she informed me that after her review she was not offered a raise. Working alongside her I have been witness to her working just as hard as me and being an asset to our company as well.

I felt terrible for her but recognized it was not my place to have an opinion as I am not her boss. However, this morning our boss approached me requesting a meeting in which he informed me that he was unable to offer her a raise because he offered what was left of the budget all to me.

He then proceeded to inform me that unless I split or gave up some of my raise – she would not get one. I split it equally with her and she was very grateful. I know I did the right thing but part of me wonders

Why I wasn’t more selfish in this decision since it wasn’t my responsibility, it was my boss.

Here are what netizens think:

  • I don’t see why your boss would put that on you, its ultimately not your decision. It sounds like this was a test if you both have been working hard. Makes no sense.
  • Company should have made the choice and explained that you both earned it. How does it make sense to anyone that both people equally deserving of something, one gets ignored? I don’t like it one bit, I’m struggling to understand how this made sense to anyone.
  • It’s pretty common for men to be paid more than women when they’re doing a job equally well. Not trying to start an argument or be bitter, just stating a very unfair and unfortunate fact.
  • Your Boss is an idiot! He/She needs to be replaced, hope when your company does the 360 review, you are able to do something about it.

FRESH GRADS SHOULD NOT BE SO PICKY ABOUT 1ST JOB

0

There are always complaints here and there about their first jobs. A man said not to be so picky on their first jobs.

Here is what he advice

“Want to put some encouragement out there to graduating students. Especially those who received less than satisfactory offers and feel disappointed at what employers are offering you out of school.

It doesn’t matter that much. It matters what you do after getting a less than satisfactory salary (If you’re satisfied, don’t read further).

I’m not from CS or well paid courses so when I took on my first job with a salary slightly below 3K monthly, it was pretty amazing. I ignored culture and got into a really bad job. Thank goodness I manage to get myself out of it.

Remained motivated, kept working hard and did not restrain me to my job scope. Looking back, this helped me because I always had so much to share during interviews.

Finally, after changing a few jobs (I was “approached” each time), I’m earning at least triple of what I had 4 years back.

So, friends, you are what you set yourself up to be. If someone paid you less, try set yourself to accomplish tasks that could justify why you should be paid more (help the company earn more, help others in your team grow, help your boss get recognised… etc). That way you’re setting yourself up for success.”

Here is what netizens think:

Go for the job, learn what you can and move on. Remember that there is no such thing as loyalty in a company. When you leave thousands more are behind you waiting to get that job. If you have an offer take it first. You can always omit those short jobs in your resume.

If the boss is good stay around longer and see what you can learn.

WOMAN COMPLAINS ABOUT HAVING SMALL CHEST, BUT HUSBAND LOVES IT

0

A netizen shared about how his wife has been complaining about how small her chest it but he loves her just the way she is.

Here is the story:

My wife and I have been married for 27 years. She’s always had a small chest. They were perkier when we were first married at 20 yo. They were bigger when we had our children and now in our late 40’s they are a bit saggy.

My wife has complained for years about how small they are. We’ve talked about augmentation and had put it off due to how the procedure was done (we know there are new ways) and the possibility of her losing some feeling.

I am going on a business trip and she is going with me to lay on the beach and by the pool for the 4 days.

One of the nights we may be going to a cocktail party so she has been trying on some of her dresses. She had on her cute little black one and again complained about her small chest because she doesn’t “fill out” the upper half of her cocktail dress.

I turned to her and said, “You know what babe? I wish you had a bigger chest too.” She replied, “I knew it!”

Then I told her “but it isn’t for the reason you think” I wish she had a bigger chest so she didn’t feel so self-conscious about how she looks in that dress, or her swimsuits or her blouses. That is the only reason.

I love her just the way she is!

Ladies, when you have a man that loves you more than anyone or anything on the planet please know that he loves you for who you are!

Everything my wife has been through has sculpted her body to the perfection I see in front of me every day. She birthed my children so that bit of belly she never got rid of is a testament to the sacrifice she made being pregnant.

So are those saggy puppies that fed our babies and those are the memories I will cherish.

Every scar, wrinkle, ache, and pain comes from a life well lived and shared with me.

This is love and I hope everyone reading this experiences this in their life.

Editor’s note: Very touching, I’m happy for you two.

GUY MIXED UP LANGUAGE, ASKS GF FOR ‘MOUTH’ IN FRONT OF HER PARENTS

0

A guy shared a story about how he mixed up the languages and did not pronounce what he had intended to correctly in front of his girlfriend’s parents which led to him saying something of a total different meaning.

He adds that he had the intention of asking his girlfriend to play games while he was over at her place but ended up asking her for some ‘mouth action’ instead because of the mixed up of words.

Here is the story

“I was over at my girlfriend’s place for dinner one night at the invitation of her parents who wanted to get to know me.

We have been dating for a couple of months and I have yet to meet her parents as they were also busy with running their own business and did not really have the time for social interactions outside of their work schedule.

Let me clarify a few things first before I continue the story.

  1. My girlfriend is Filipino and sometimes they tend to reverse a word instead of saying it normally.
  2. The Filipino translation for the word “play” as in to play games is “laro”.

With those two pointed out, you might already have an idea where this thing is going.

I’m having dinner with my girlfriend’s family and her siblings and parents were on the table and I was invited over for dinner today because we’re supposed to have met long ago instead and this was quite belated.

After eating, I invited her to play games and unconsciously said “tara, oral” which roughly translates to “come on, oral” although I meant to invite her to play games.

The moment I realized what I said, I immediately followed up with the name of the game I want us to play.

Her parents hasn’t talked to me yet ever since then and one of her siblings is always giving me funny stares.”

GUY ACCIDENTALLY SPILLS HOT TEA ON HIS ‘JOYSTICK’

0

A guy shared a story of how he woke up one day and made some hot tea to drink like he always does everyday.

He happened to be rushing out for work that day and brought the cup of hot tea which he had just poured for himself into the toilet to drink while he prepares and get ready for work.

While he was down to his birthday suit, he took a sip of the tea and accidentally spilled some of it on his body and eventually on his ‘joystick’, causing it to burn.

Here is the story

“This happened on one of the mornings which I woke up late and was rushing to work.

I like to drink hot tea in the morning. The hotter the better as it wakes me up and perks my spirit. It has become a routine which I never fail to do in the morning.

My favorite mug to hold my morning tea is a gigantic one with my initials on it, it could hold up to almost one litre of tea.

Anyway, I made my morning tea, and right as I finished stirring in the honey, I felt the sudden and immediate urge to take a dump.

So being the gross person that I am and also because I wash rushing as I was already late, I took my tea with me to the bathroom.

Everything was fine until I tried to drink from my mug with one hand. It slipped right before it got to my lips, and fell all down my chest, stomach, and ‘joystick’.

Honestly, my ‘joystick’ got the least of the burn, but you can’t tell that to all those nerve endings.

Needless to say, I will not be drinking hot tea while in my birthday suit again, maybe unless I’m leaning over the sink.

Maybe I should learn to appreciate iced tea?”

2ND GEN PRC MAN SERVING ARMY IN SG, WRITE COMMANDS IN CHINESE

0

I am a 19F local dating a China guy with a really curious trait. Whenever he has trouble remembering how to pronounce cheem-sounding English words, he will transliterate it into Chinese and memorize that instead. For instance, “doing it” becomes “谁输儿 阴特扣死“ (shei-shu-er yin-te-kou-si), which I find so funny I make him say it every time he wants to do it.

But yesterday when I was helping him to spring-clean his room for CNY, I stumbled upon this army notebook of his. I recall that he told me as a second-gen PRC he had to serve, and he was a Platoon Sergeant, so I was curious and had a look at what he wrote. Lo and behold, it was full of Chinese transliterations of army commands and on one page, there was a full-blown Tang dynasty-esque poem:

扑了吞吐握右方 (pu-le-tun-tu-wo-you-fang)

扑了吞吐色迪呀 (pu-le-tun-tu-se-di-ya)

可可男露无乳撕 (ke-ke-nan-lu-wu-ru-si)

盘蛋卡拉盘盘蛋 (pan-dan-ka-la-pan-pan-dan)

巴黎死色囊地利 (ba-li-si-se-nang-di-li)

I only recognise “sediya” and “senangdili” cause I hear that all the time in morning assembly back in school, but the rest look like gibberish. Anyone understand this?

Here is wht netizens think:

  • thanks for the morning lolz.Anyway it’s not uncommon. Japanese Katakana was derived for the same reason – to deal with words and phrases not in their native tongue.
  • Reminds me of Wong Fei Hong learns english from 十三姨
  • Platoon watch your front..platoon Sedi-a! (Attention).. Ke-Kanan Lu – RUS!(Right dressing).. Pandang Ke-Hadapan Pan – DANG! (Eyes to the front).
  • Very impressed! At least he make an effort to remember the commands using his creative!
  • Once u go tiong u cant turn back
  • 3rd one is me kanan lu rus (checking alignment when falling in)4th one is Pandan ke hadapan pandan= turning head back to the front after checking alignment5th one is Baris Senangdiri= contingent? At ease.
