S’POREAN MAN FINED & JAILED IN M’SIA FOR SMUGGLING 11 PARROTS INTO THE COUNTRY

0

A Singaporean man was fined and jailed by a Malaysian court for smuggling 11 wild parrots into Malaysia.

The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) of Malaysia shared the details of the case in a Facebook post on June 20.

The illicit transportation of the smuggled birds was unveiled during inspections carried out at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) on May 31.

Wildlife and National Parks Department officials from Johor state collaborated with immigration authorities to inspect Singapore-registered vehicles in one of the lanes at the complex following a tip off from the Customs.

On the evening of May 31, five enforcement officers were dispatched to the CIQ complex. During the search, they discovered several birds concealed in the suspect’s vehicle.

The species included 4 figbirds, 3 blue and gold macaws, 3 scarlet macaws, and 1 yellow-headed Amazon bird. According to NST, Aminuddin Jamin, the director of the department, stated that the vibrant birds were confined to small boxes with tiny holes.

Additionally, the officers found bird feed, 10 wooden boxes, a cage, and a mobile phone among the seized items. The suspect was apprehended on the spot, and the confiscated goods were taken into custody.

The case was subsequently presented before the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on June 7. The court determined that the individual in question did not possess any valid permits or documentation from Perhilitan to justify the possession of these protected wildlife species, as translated from the Facebook post by Free Malaysia Today.

Under the Wildlife Conservation (Amendment) Act 2022, the Singaporean offender was found guilty of possessing protected wildlife without the necessary permit, as outlined in Sections 60(1) and 68(1)(a).

The court imposed a fine of RM80,000 (equivalent to S$23,230) and a 7-day prison term starting from the date of arrest.

S’PORE WORKER JAILED FOR TAKING DRUGS, KEPT DRUGS INSIDE WOODLANDS MOSQUE

A worker responsible for maintaining the facilities at a mosque was apprehended by police officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) after they discovered drug paraphernalia and cannabis mixtures at the place of worship, according to a report by Channel NewsAsia.

The individual, named Mohammad Asyrafuddin Jupri and aged 31, admitted to consuming methamphetamine in order to enhance his energy levels for work.

On Wednesday, June 21, he was sentenced to one year in jail for drug possession and consumption, while three additional charges were taken into consideration.

According to court records, Asyrafuddin was employed at the Yushof Ishak Mosque located at 10 Woodlands Drive. Additionally, he worked part-time as a confined-area rescuer.

On October 28, 2022, CNB officers arrested him in close proximity to the mosque. Subsequently, a search was conducted on the fifth level of the mosque, where Asyrafuddin resided.

CNB officers then conducted a search of his room, as well as recovered incriminating items from the ablution room, his cubicle and locker.

The officers discovered various items, which included foil-wrapped vegetable matter, packets of crystalline substances, glass and metal drug utensils, as well as a metal can containing vegetable matter.

These items were collected as evidence and forwarded to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for analysis. The HSA determined that two of the exhibits contained 15.53g and 14.99g of a cannabis mixture, respectively.

Asyrafuddin confessed to possessing these items, acknowledging that they contained “ganja,” a colloquial term for a Class A controlled drug.

Following his arrest, Asyrafuddin was taken to the Central Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigations. During the process, his urine samples tested positive for methamphetamine.

Later on, Asyrafuddin admitted that he had been smoking approximately 5g of meth, referred to as “Ice” on the streets, per month. He claimed that he relied on the drug to provide him with the necessary energy for his work.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor, Chong Kee En, requested a sentence of eight months in jail for the drug possession charge and one year in jail for the drug consumption charge. He did not object to the sentences running concurrently. Chong Kee En noted that Asyrafuddin had no prior convictions.

In agreement with the prosecution, defense lawyer Riko Isaac stated that Asyrafuddin had consumed the drugs in order to work longer hours and increase his income.

MAN WENT CHINESE EATERY, NOT HAPPY AT SEEING BUDDHA STATUE, DEMANDS REFUND

A racist man in the United States visited a Chinese restaurant, Rose Garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was bothered by the existence of a Buddha statue inside that he demanded a refund for his food.

The man, identifying himself as a Christian, expresses his disapproval of the statue and insists on not wanting the food.

He told the staff that “I don’t want the food because you’ve got the Buddha there, I don’t believe in that so I don’t want that.”

The staff, who appeared to be the manager, told him that the man is being racist and refused to give him a refund for his absurd behaviour.

While waiting for his order, the man engages in arguments with other customers. One individual advises him to “love thy neighbour,” highlighting the potential contradiction between his Christian beliefs and his behaviour.

Throughout the incident, a young boy accompanying the man stands by his side, engrossed in a handheld game.

A woman later intervenes in the situation and sternly tells the man to “shut up”, bringing an end to the video.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Dumb people have so many problems with everything.
  2. The problem is, before the internet, stupid people were generally alone in their idiocy. Like, your town had that one person that everybody knew was just a moron. Kids would be told not to listen to a thing that person said because everything they said was wrong.
Then the internet came and the imbeciles found each other. They formed collective groups. They started podcasts. They shared their non-ideas.
  3. For God so loved the world, that he demanded a refund on his takeout because the Chinese restaurant owner has different beliefs.
  4. Young girl just walks up in between them and places her order like there is nothing going on. Well done.
  5. I really want some Chinese food.
  6. How does this idiot even get dressed himself in the morning.
  7. You know it’s a good restaurant when people of all races are eating there. And you can tell a lot of the people there are used to this behavior

S’PORE COUPLE SPENDING $110K SAVINGS TO DRIVE FROM LONDON TO S’PORE, ACROSS 23 COUNTRIES

0

In their quest to fulfill a dream of embarking on a global road trip, Mr Jeremy See and his wife made an unconventional decision. Inspired by documentaries showcasing other adventurous travelers, they decided to take on the journey from a different perspective by starting in London and culminating in Singapore.

To make this possible, the couple is investing approximately S$110,000 of their savings and arranging for their car to be shipped to London. Once there, they will join a convoy of 11 other couples, each with their own vehicle, and together they will kickstart their memorable road trip back home.

Their ambitious itinerary encompasses 23 countries and over 160 towns, villages, and cities. If everything goes according to plan, they hope to conclude their expedition and be back in time for Christmas.

Mr See expressed his and his wife’s desire to step out of their comfort zone, explaining that regular road trips to neighboring countries like Malaysia and Thailand no longer provide the same sense of excitement.

They were captivated by documentaries featuring groups of travelers exploring the world, which fueled their determination to embark on their own epic adventure.

Taking into account the constraints of time and cost, a round-trip journey was deemed impractical. However, they also wanted to begin their expedition with the most captivating destinations, rather than starting from Singapore and gradually making their way up.

“If we were to start from Singapore, we would already be exhausted from Malaysia and Thailand before the real enjoyment begins,” Mr See explained.

To support their ambitious plans, they have diligently saved S$110,000, which will cover expenses such as shipping, accommodations, meals, visas, vehicle permits, fuel, tolls, and attraction fees.

They have opted for high-quality lodging and dining experiences, expecting each person to contribute S$43,000 to cover costs such as hotels, restaurants, attractions, local guides, tolls, parking, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Furthermore, Mr See shared that the vehicle permits and shipping costs for each car amount to S$16,000.

Naturally, the prospect of spending S$55,000 per person may appear daunting to individuals without substantial savings.

Addressing cost-conscious aspiring travelers, Mr See suggested, “It is possible to undertake this trip for half the cost if you are willing to camp at campsites and prepare your own meals.”

Here is his post on Facebook

How does one pack a Singapore car for a 100 days road trip across 23 countries from London to Singapore? These are just a tip of the ice-berg for road trip spanning these countries:

UK > France > Belgium > Germany > Austria > Slovakia > Hungary > Croatia > Bosnia > Montenegro > Albania > Greece > Turkiye > Iran > Turkmenistan > Uzbekistan > Kyrgyzstan > Kazakhstan > China > Laos > Thailand > Malaysia > Singapore

A huge portion is the car spare parts for maintenance and 30 bottles of octane boosters for places which only have fuel of questionable quality and origins. We also packed enough clothes for at least 2 weeks in case we cannot easily find a self-service laundromat.

Border crossings often take up to 8-12 hours, and we will spend a number of days in the desert of Turkmenistan, so packing food we can easily heat up as well as beverages are important. Extra pair of well-broken in shoes, eye-glasses, medication for chronic illnesses are important.

To memorialize a Singapore-registered car driving halfway around the world is important to us so we’re bringing camera lens & bodies, 360 camera, multiple GoPro, mounts, tripods, accessories, 20 memory cards, 20TB portable HDD and of course a laptop powerful enough to edit videos and photos on the go.

In 3 days’ time, our car will be shipped to London and we will fly over and join her on 2nd August.

WORKER KILLED AFTER BEING ELECTROCUTED WHILE INSTALLING SOLAR PANEL @ S’PORE BUILDING

0

An incident occurred on June 12 during the installation of solar panels on a building’s rooftop, resulting in the unfortunate death of a worker who was electrocuted, according to a report from The Straits Times.

The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council issued an alert on Wednesday, stating that the worker noticed an exposed cable emitting smoke and arcing while carrying out the installation.

Tragically, upon coming into contact with the exposed cable, the worker was electrocuted and subsequently passed away on the same day after being rushed to the hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the cable was lying on the wet roof, as it had rained prior to the accident.

This workplace fatality occurred just a few days before another incident at the Fuji Xerox Towers building in Tanjong Pagar, where a worker lost their life during demolition works and subsequently went missing amongst the rubble before rescuers found his body.

According to the WSH alert, the installation of solar panels poses a significant risk of electrocution. Even when unplugged, solar panels generate live currents when exposed to sunlight.

The alert also highlighted six measures that companies should implement to safeguard workers. These measures include insulating exposed electrical components and suspending electrical work during adverse weather conditions.

The installation of solar panels also presents a risk of falls from height, although this particular incident did not involve such an occurrence. Nonetheless, solar installers and contractors are advised to develop and implement site-specific fall prevention plans to eliminate or reduce the risk of falling.

The recent fatalities bring the total number of workplace deaths in 2023 to 14. In 2022, there were 46 workplace deaths, marking the highest recorded number since 2016 when 66 individuals lost their lives.

As a response to the series of work-related deaths and injuries, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) imposed a six-month heightened safety period starting from September 1, 2022, which was later extended to May 31 due to a worrying increase in workplace fatalities.

According to the WSH Act, corporations found guilty for the first time may face fines of up to $500,000, while individuals can be fined up to $200,000, imprisoned for a maximum of two years, or both.

FRIENDS: BROTHERSHIP AND SISTERSHIP ARE NOTHING BUT BULL…

Why are women so petty?

I know my friend, S, since we are 12 years old. She’s a pretty girl. No lack of admirers. I was one of them too. But I know she’s out of my league so I decided I’ll be her good friend instead. During our teens, I admitted that I had a crush on S but it didn’t lead to anything so we stayed friends. We have stayed platonic since.

As we got older and started dating other people, my first gf was insanely jealous of S and tried to make me cut off the friendship. I have nothing to hide. I even introduced my gf to her and let my gf have access to my phone. But my gf decided she will not want to get to know S. My gf also tried to make me buy branded bags for her. I wasn’t able to afford it as I’ve just started working. After a few turbulent weeks of arguments, I found out she cheated and the relationship ended.

I was devastated but I guess it was a blessing in disguise as I met my next gf. This time I didn’t reject requests of buying branded bags as I didn’t want to lose my gf again. I don’t know why is it my fate that I meet women who seem to ask for branded bags as I know S never asked that of her bf.

I tried to introduce S to my new gf. But history repeated itself, my new gf is also unwilling to get acquainted with S. S stopped talking to me out of respect for my gf but we still wish each other happy birthday. S usually tag her bf when she signs off. S would also tag my gf when she mentions me. Any communication was not private but my gf was still unhappy about S.

Over the years, S’s bf became her husband. And my gf became my wife. We’ve attended each other’s wedding, baby full month celebration, baby birthdays. But that’s about it, we had no other contact out of these occasions. But whenever my wife and I argue, for no reason she would bring S into the picture.

We are already in our 30s and we already have our own family and kids. I don’t know why my wife wouldn’t let it go when I didn’t even have an intimate relationship with S before. We were just friends!

Men, next time you have a crush on someone and that person is still in your life as a friend, never tell your gf or wife!

GIRLS SAYS HER BF BEATS HER THEN LATER BEGS AND KNEELS FOR FORGIVENESS

0

My boyfriend of 2years is a narcissist, cheated and was violent towards me. Everytime I tell him I want to break up, he cry and beg and apologize about how much he regrets his actions and won’t do it again. Recently, violent events occurred again and ofcourse I felt again.

After tell him off multiple times he still didn’t want to let go, even after blocking him, he would make new instagram and telegram accounts to contact me asking for forgiveness. Telling me that this time would be different, that he would go for anger management therapy, see a psychiatrist etcetc. That if I just give him another chance to chase me back, he would show me that he really is putting in alot of effort to change.

So the question is, does seeing a psychiatrist/ counselor actually work for anger management? Will it be or any help? Or should i just not have any hope in it.

After all, I am not young anymore and have already wasted 2yrs.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Once violence is in the picture, it’s a dealbreaker. And should be the only factor you need to leave. Plenty of other fish in the ocean. Just let this one go.
  • Most men don’t change. The fact that he was violent towards you just shows that he doesn’t love you.Why do you need to give chances to men who doesn’t even love you? Are you so desperate? Whether psychiatrist or counselling works or not, I won’t bet on it. (You alrdy stake 2 yrs on this guy, you are asking if it’s ok to stake another 20 yrs? LOL)
  • If u end up with this guy and you guys plan on having kids,he’s going to be the father of your precious children. He’s already proven multiple times, he can be violent. Sure, what if he doesn’t hurt you anymore but what’s stopping him from taking out his anger on the children? Also all these times you’re wasting staying with him, is time you could have spent finding someone who will treat you right

WIFE MISSED “SINGLE DAYS” & WANTS TO DIVORCE: MARRIAGE BECOMES CIRCUS

0

When is it that you decided to quit?

I am asking those who have been through divorce.

I have been married for 2 years, no kids. I feel like I have acquired a new status – Mrs. but didn’t get much more from it except more responsibilities and blame.

Both my husband and I married late. We are in our late 30s and he is the only male in a traditional family. We didn’t want kids but his parents have been pestering us for grandkids. I was also expected to do all the housework and help out during festival and celebrations. My MIL still have those traditional believes that woman married into the family to help out (cook and clean for the family) hence I will be expected to go over and help out whenever needed.

My husband is kind of a mummy boy who inherited all the traditional thoughts but not the responsibility behind those thoughts. He is not the sole bread winner (I pay part of everything) but I am the sole home maker. He doesn’t do anything except wash his own plate after meals, sometimes he leaves his cups around and I have to wash them when I do housework during weekends. I told him if he doesn’t help out, I will want to get a helper but he say he won’t pay for the helper and hinted it’s my job to clean.

The worst is when his mother blames me (for working hence no time to make grandkids) he keeps quiet. When his mother expects me to go over when I am sick he didn’t fight for me instead say it’s just for a while. Multiple times I was used as the shield (excuse) for the shit he did and his ego. I told him that I don’t like him putting me down in front of others but he seems to think it’s part of my role as a wife to defend his pride.

Whenever we argued, he will deny everything he did and then spin it around to put the blame on me. Else he will cut me off halfway. There’s no way to communicate this way.

Honestly, it’s like a got promoted to Mrs. On the surface but deep down its a demotion. Got more things to do and care about and doesn’t gain anything from it. My love and patience with my husband is really drying out…

I am really contemplating a divorce. I kinda missed my singles day.
