SIAO ZHABOR ACCUSES GUY OF “HITTING” HER $5K BAG IN MRT & DEMAND MONEY FROM HIM

0

Someone asked me to pay to repair her $5000 handbag

So I was walking down the escalator at the train station this morning, and I was carrying a few things, so I had quite a bulky side bag.

A woman came up to me at the MRT platform later and approached me claiming that I had “hit” her $5000 handbag and chipped the corner off her handbag.

She was basically looking for a fight, confronting me in the middle of the doorway to the MRT during rush hour.

I just moved us both into the MRT when it arrived, and asked her what she wanted or expected from me. She showed me the corner of her bag, and insisted that I pay for the repairs. But when I looked at the other corner of her bag, it was chipped too.

She claimed that was “small” so it was understandable, but the chip that I made with my Nike reusable bag was “bigger”. She didn’t want me to take a photo of the other side of her bag, but I took a photo of the chipped side. She kept trying to talk to me and start a fight in the train, but I just put my headphones in and ignored her.

Anyway, just want to know what to do when she texts me. Do I have to pay for her repairs? Or can I just block her and ignore her messages? Does she have any legal recourse against me if I just ignore her? She doesn’t have my name, but I did give her my real number because she called me on the spot to check.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Corners of real leather bags wear and tear easily with use, especially if it’s lamb or goat skin. She’s trying to finesse you lmao crazy
  2. If she calls or texts you, give her a police station address and meet there inside.
  3. Not going to lie kinda sounds like she just wants your money. That aside, how the hell did your Nike reusable bag chip a bag? Like what part did it even chip?
  4. You gave her your number? Just ignore her, block her as well. The police does not have time for this.
  5. Sounds like a scam brudda
  6. Tell her she hit your Nike bag with her 5000 bag but you’ll let it go.
  7. Ask her to provide evidence(s) that you were the one who damaged her bag. She can get the police or her lawyers involved but most likely nothing is going to happen unless there are concrete evidence(s) like CCTV recording that your bag “rubbed” against her’s with a force that’s enough to cause damage to her bag.

GUY WORKED PART-TIME BUT BOSS ACT BLUR & REFUSED TO PAY HIM EVEN AFTER 2 WEEKS

0

Worked part-time ad hoc job and did not receive pay. What can I do?

I worked part-time for a company about 2.5 weeks ago for 2 days. The boss said she would pay out the salary 1 week after the event so that she could settle other stuff first.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, the other part timers and I waited. But 1 week after the event, she did not update the others and I about the payment she promised to pay out.

Only when another part timer voiced out in the whatsapp group of not receiving the pay did she start to reimburse them.

As the week went by, I kept checking my transactions to see if the amount was transferred into my bank account, but unfortunately, it wasn’t (and still have not received it btw).

So I decided to text her last week to check with her for updates. She kept giving replies like ‘I will check with finance and get back to you tomorrow’ – in which she never did till I retexted her.

This happened for about 3 times (6 days) before I had enough of her bullshit. So I texted her yesterday regarding my salary. She replied saying ‘finance has paid out to all, it is not possible that all has received except you right?’

I kept asking her about it and she gave her standard reply again – ‘i will ask finance and get back to you, probably in 1 to 2 working days because the account for the event has closed’ which is quite ridiculous honestly.

So here I am, waiting for her reply tomorrow. Do you think I’ll ever get my money? What can I do if she keeps dragging this on?

Some additional information:

  1. I was not hired under the same circumstances as the other part-timers (they went through an app) while I met the boss from another event I was working at.
  2. I am receiving a higher pay than the other part-timers because she agreed to match the salary I was receiving at the job she met me at
  3. I have proof that she hired me for the job and agreed to pay me the higher salary (from whatsapp messages)

Questions:

  1. If I decided to name and shame this company, telling all the companies associated to them how they treat their workers etc., will I suffer from any consequences? (be it suing for defamation etc.)

MAN EYEING ELDERLY MUM’S CPF MONEY, & SHE GIVES IN TO “MAINTAIN THE PEACE”

0

Disappointed with my mom

My brother (25) is asking for my mom for her CPF money to sponsor him for studies. Issue is that my mom herself does not have enough even for retirement as she was a housewife for a long time.

She seems reluctant to give but says that she will give it to my brother to “maintain the peace” as my brother will curse at her if she refused.

He was working full time previously but seem to have spent the money on other things so he is unable to afford his school fees now and has never given a single cent to my mom before.

Anyone has any advice? I am worried for her as she seems to be unable to say no and always gives in to my brother whether they are reasonable requests or not.

I feel so helpless as ultimately it is her money and she can do what she wants with it but i’m sorry to say that i don’t see my brother being grateful now or in future.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Cpf to pay for studies is a loan, your brother will need to pay back cpf with interest.
  2. Let me clarify because my mom is reaching 55 so she can withdraw some cash which she initially wanted to keep for her own use but i think now she’s going to give some to him
  3. Your brother is 100% an a-hole Ever since my father passed, my brother and I have decided to not let our mother pay for any of our major expenses, we cover our own school fees and allowance so as to allow my mum to enjoy an earlier retirement. This occurred when I was 23 and my brother was 21. As a 25 year old, your brother shouldn’t be so selfish. Ask him to take a study loan if he wants it so badly.
  4. What comes out of cpf must go back in later. Who is going to pay for it then? Your mom also needs to set away money for her retirement further down the road. Must think of her future.
  5. If I’m the father, I will slap the daylights out of your brother. Ungrateful…

GUY’S MARRIED SISTER & HIS ENGAGED BEST FRIEND PIAK-ING EACH OTHER, STUCK IN THE MIDDLE

0

I am a 26M and my older sister Julie is 28F. Julie is married to Tanner, 29M, and they have two kids that are 6 years and 5mo old.

I have been best friends with Kyle 26M since we were in diapers. Kyle is engaged to Cathy, 28F, and have a wedding date set in November.

Cathy and Julie went to school together and have been close friends for years. Kyle and I both work at a gym that Tanner owns.

2 weeks ago I was out with Tanner getting lunch before heading back to work, when Tanner started to swear while looking at his phone.

He showed me the phone and while looking at his baby camera app, Tanner saw Julie and Kyle kissing and getting intimate.

Tanner started yelling at me asking if I knew about it, where I was in shock and told him no. Tanner started taking screenshots of the images and said he was going home for the day.

That night he ended up confronting his wife, my sister, Julie. She admitted to having an affair with Kyle, my best friend, for months.

Cathy was not around that night but Tanner called her to tell her what was going on. Cathy came back the next day and immediately called off the wedding and kicked Kyle out of the house.

Tanner took the same route and also asked Julie to leave the house so he could think over how to go about separating while also keeping the children in mind.

A few days later Julie and Kyle decided to move out and rent an apartment together. Two days ago I helped to move them in and I am getting a lot of heat from Tanner and Cathy.

Kyle is my best friend and Julie is my sister and I know what they did was wrong but I also know that they don’t have a lot of support at the moment and they are both family to me.

This takes us to today. Tanner is now telling me I am not allowed to see my niece and nephew since I decided “cheaters are more important than him”.

I also lost my job today, where Tanner was my boss. I am stuck in the middle where my best friend and sister were the ones who had the affair but Cathy has become like family as well as Tanner and my niece and nephew.

I am stuck in the middle of the family drama as I am the single one of our now broken friend group of 5.

MAN REJECTS WOMEN OVER 30 CAUSE’ BY THE TIME THEY HAVE HIS BABIES, TOO OLD LIAO

0

My (32F) guy friend (30M) refuses to date women over 30 because he wants to have kids

My friend wants kids like really badly and when he dates, he takes that into account and he comes to me for relationship advice since I’m one of the few female friends he has.

One of the first things he told me was that he wouldn’t date women over 30. I asked him why and he said it’s because a relationship will take a few years to grow.

He said he would need to take her age into account because he wants a few kids and space them out a bit. He’s against having kids with women over 35.

He thinks it’s dangerous. So, to be safe he’s working backwards and only dates women under 30. I was like ok… I didn’t judge.

He’s having trouble finding success in dating women in their 20s because they don’t have the same life goals as he does. I told him gently that the age group he’s targeting is probably too young to be thinking of having kids and settling down. He replied

“Why are you as a woman prioritizing fun with a stranger rather than trying to find the right person having fun with them?”

The last girl he dated was like 25 and he got angry because she said she hadn’t thought at all about having kids.

When I tell him it’s probably more likely for women over 30 to be thinking about having kids, he doesn’t listen. It seems like he would rather become a passport bro (which I advised against) than to even consider women his own age. I don’t know how to make him see it from a different perspective.

Netizens’ comments

He’s not listening to you as it is so I can’t imagine pushing the issue is going to make him listen the next hundred time.

Next time he complains, just say that you told him so and that he needs to stop coming to you for advice since you think his standards suck.

ICA OFFICER PIAK PIAK WITH PRC WOMEN & TOOK MONEY FROM THEM AS BRIBES, JAILED 33 MONTHS

0

A 49-year-old Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) officer, Teo Hwee Ping, was recently sentenced to 33 months in jail and fined S$2634.55 for his involvement in accepting bribes, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The Unraveling of a 20-Year Career

Teo’s illicit activities revolved around assisting a Chinese woman, Liang Qinglan, who had overstayed her travel pass in Singapore.

Through his contacts and knowledge within the ICA, Teo arranged for Liang’s arrest and manipulated her responses during the interview process to secure her a Special Pass.

This pass, typically issued for specific purposes, allowed Liang to remain in Singapore despite her legal status.

The Nexus of Bribes

Court documents revealed that Teo’s involvement wasn’t solely for the sake of helping Liang. In exchange for his services, Teo received gifts ranging from an iPhone X to free intercourse and monetary rewards.

Teo’s relationship with Liang took a darker turn as he not only facilitated her immigration matters but also encouraged her to engage in illegal activities.

Liang gave Teo a cash reward of about $2,200 and slept with him for free, as well as lending him money of up to $1,400 in exchange for continuing to help her with her immigration.

He also confessed to encouraging Liang to work as a prostitute in Singapore.

Liang, indebted to Teo, continued to offer him various rewards, including cash, intercourse, and loans. This pattern of exploitation further showcased the power dynamics at play.

A Broader Network of Deceit

As the saga continued, Teo’s web of corruption expanded. Another Chinese national, Cheng Wenjuan, sought Teo’s assistance in obtaining a Special Pass after being informed by Liang.

Teo, undeterred by his impending consequences, agreed to help Cheng for a fee and additional perks. Unfortunately for Cheng, her plans were foiled by her arrest before she could secure the Special Pass

CAPITALAND FINED AFTER CLEANER DIED FROM FALLING THROUGH TAMPINES MALL CEILING

0

In a somber incident that took place in Tampines, a 26-year-old cleaner lost his life due to a tragic fall through a false ceiling at Tampines Mall.

CapitaLand Retail Management (CRM), the entity responsible for the mall’s operations, was fined $24,000 on 22 August after pleading guilty to two charges of breaching the Workplace Safety and Health Regulations, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The incident occurred on 25 January 2020 during an annual cleaning operation at Tampines Mall. CRM had engaged a team from Cleaning Express to undertake the cleaning of the 5th floor’s louvres, in a room equipped with a catwalk and a concrete walkway.

Tragedy struck as a 26-year-old Indian national, engaged in sweeping the concrete walkway, fell through a false ceiling and landed on the third floor.

The fatal fall occurred around 1.10 am and the worker succumbed to his injuries later that morning.

Breaches in Workplace Safety Regulations

Subsequent investigations revealed significant breaches in workplace safety regulations that contributed to the worker’s untimely demise.

The concrete walkway’s guardrail had a dangerous opening that rendered it susceptible to such accidents. Moreover, the room’s lighting was inadequate for conducting cleaning tasks safely.

These findings formed the basis for charges brought against CRM under the Workplace Safety and Health Regulations.

Legal Proceedings and Penalties

In the aftermath of the incident, CRM faced legal consequences for its lapses in ensuring workplace safety. The court held CRM accountable for two charges related to breaches in workplace safety regulations. The prosecution sought a fine ranging between S$24,000 and S$30,000 for both charges combined.

The Defense’s Argument

During the trial, CRM’s representative, Mr. Paul Sandosham, presented the defense’s perspective. He argued that the cleaning work was designated to take place exclusively on the catwalk and not on the concrete walkway.

According to the defense, the deceased worker had ventured into an area that was explicitly off-limits, despite being briefed about the restrictions. This led to the argument that the worker bore some responsibility for the accident.

Legal Deliberations

District Judge Ronald Gwee, overseeing the case, found the defense’s argument to be akin to blaming the victim.

He highlighted that the presence of an opening in the guardrail and inadequate lighting in the room made the area inherently unsafe. Judge Gwee observed that the lack of proper guardrails and lighting contradicted the notion of a safe working environment.

Sentencing and Implications

Despite CRM’s arguments, the court deemed the breaches in workplace safety regulations to be significant. Consequently, CRM pleaded guilty to both charges.

The court imposed a fine of S$24,000 on CRM for its failure to uphold proper workplace safety standards. While the penalty was substantial, it did not reach the maximum possible under the law, as the charges were specific to workplace safety and health regulations rather than the broader Workplace Safety and Health Act.

PREGNANT GIRL ELECTROCUTED TO DEATH BY CHARGING HER PHONE AFTER SHOWERING

0

In our digital age, smartphones have become indispensable companions, allowing us to stay connected, informed, and entertained at all times. However, amidst the convenience and utility they provide, it’s crucial to remember that certain precautions must be taken when handling electronic devices.

A recent tragedy in Brazil serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of charging our phones with wet hands.

The tragedy

In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred in the Monte Castelo neighbourhood of Campina Grande, Brazil, a 17-year-old pregnant woman named Jennifer Karolayne stepped out of the shower and decided to charge her phone, according to the Daily Mail.

As she attempted to connect her phone using an extension cord, an electric shock coursed through her body. The shock was so powerful that it not only claimed her life but also the life of her unborn child.

Upon hearing Jennifer’s screams and a disturbingly loud noise, her husband rushed over and found her unresponsive, and in a harrowing turn of events, he too received an electric shock while attempting to help her.

Mum and child perished

Despite his distress call and the prompt arrival of emergency service teams, there was nothing they could do to save Jennifer.

Jennifer was in the final stages of her pregnancy, eagerly awaiting the birth of her child. The tragedy not only robbed her husband of a beloved wife but also took away the chance for their unborn child to experience life.

The Campina Grande Homicide Police Station’s chief, Ramirison Pedro, stated that the incident is currently being treated as an accident.

Charging Safety Guidelines

To prevent such heart-wrenching incidents, it’s important to follow basic safety guidelines when charging electronic devices:

Keep Devices Dry

Ensure your hands and the charging area are completely dry before plugging in your phone or any other electronic device.

Use Dry Hands

Using wet hands to handle electrical connections increases the risk of electric shock. Always dry your hands thoroughly before touching chargers or cords.

Avoid Wet Environments

Do not use your phone or any electronic device in wet environments like bathrooms, showers, or swimming pools, as moisture increases the conductivity of electricity.

Unplug Carefully

When disconnecting a charger, hold the plug rather than pulling on the cord. This prevents unnecessary wear on the cord and reduces the risk of accidental shocks.

Use Approved Chargers

Use only approved chargers and cords that are designed for your specific device. Cheap or counterfeit chargers may pose serious safety hazards.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

First responders were able to rescue another conscious man who had been trapped in the driver’s seat. The Singapore Civil Defence Force employed hydraulic rescue equipment to free him from the wreckage.

Beside the trapped driver was a female passenger, also 26, who was found unconscious in the front seat as well.

Both the male driver and the female passenger were then transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Police investigations into the fatal accident are currently underway.

NG KOK SONG RESPONDS TO BEING BOOED AT NOMINATION CENTRE – “THEY’RE A VOCAL MINORITY”

0

Presidential candidate Ng Kok Song responded to the individuals who were booing and shouting at the nomination centre on August 22, 2023. He labeled these dissenting voices as a “vocal minority,” highlighting his focus on the broader sentiment of the people.

Ng was speaking to the media during an interview at Block 475A Upper Serangoon Crescent after the submission of his nomination papers.

Rooted in History: A Personal Connection

Ng Kok Song, the former GIC chief investment officer, chose a location that holds immense sentimental value for his nomination submission.

The HDB block at Upper Serangoon Crescent stands on the very ground where he was born and raised alongside his large family of 10 siblings and parents. T

Prior to his doorstop interview, Ng Kok Song performed a symbolic act that resonated deeply with his personal history. He knelt down and kissed the spot where he was born, signifying a heartfelt reverence for his roots and the journey that has brought him to this juncture in his political career.

Navigating Hecklers: “Vocal Minority” vs. “Silent Majority”

The moment that garnered attention was Ng’s response to hecklers during his thank you speech at the nomination centre. Amidst the booing and dismissive shouts, Ng remained composed.

When asked about the intensity of the booing, he astutely labeled the hecklers as a “vocal minority,” highlighting his belief that their voices don’t define the broader sentiment of the population.

For Ng Kok Song, it is the “silent majority” that holds more significance. He expressed his appreciation for those who had “gone home earlier”, emphasizing their presence over the raucous few.

Ng Kok Song plans to host an “online seminar” where he can directly engage with Singaporeans and address their questions.

This method, facilitated by social media, allows him to reach a wide audience, especially the younger generation, who often engage with digital platforms more actively than traditional rallies.

In contrast to physical rallies, Ng believes that connecting with individuals during their moments of contemplation — when they are engrossed in their phones — can lead to more meaningful conversations and engagement.

Introducing the Personal Dimension: Sybil Lau

Ng Kok Song’s campaign extends beyond himself. He shares his journey and the story of his fiancée, Sybil Lau, as a part of his strategy.

By allowing Singaporeans to know more about his personal life and relationships, he aims to connect with voters on a relatable level.

Ng Kok Song’s campaign narrative involves a captivating element — the story of his relationship with fiancee Sybil Lau, who is noticeably much younger than him by several decades.
