My wife wants to sue my sister for her dog biting our daughter.

My wife and sister have never gotten along. A couple days ago my sister came over to our place with her dog. It’s a beagle I think.

Our daughter has a ball she likes to throw and run after. My wife warned my sister about this and my sister said her dog wouldn’t do anything.

Well I guess we were careless and her dog ended up biting our 2-year-old daughter and drawing blood.

We had to take her to the hospital and while there my wife and sister got into a screaming match. The bite was pretty bad and the doctor said there may be scarring.

Anyway my wife wants to sue my sister. She thinks the dog should be put down. My sister has apologised but began chastising my wife, like calling her crazy and other past stuff.

Now my wife is bent on suing her. I’ve tried to console her but it’s been a few days and she’s contacted a lawyer.

I’ve never seen my wife this angry. This whole thing is a complete mess and I don’t know what to do

I (18m) have always loved my mom because of what she did for me and my sister, but now I feel just hate and resentment towards her now.

This started in 2021 when she had thrown a small party for a UFC fight that was going on that night. I really didn’t care so most of the night i was on my phone.

I was asked many times to play drinking games with my mother and her friends but I don’t like alcohol and I don’t really want to get drunk around my mom. My mother on the other hand was enjoying herself and her friends were also.

Later in the night by 11pm many people went home, but there were just 3 guests, me, and my mother left. She and her friends were all enjoying their night by taking shots and basically just drinking a lot.

I had work in the morning so i had told them to enjoy their night and please keep the noise down so that I’ll hopefully get some rest.

After an hour of them basically not caring I come out to tell them please to be a little more quiet because I have work early the next day.

I was met with them not really paying attention and basically brushing me off the rest of the conversation.

There was one of her friends, let’s call him Larry. Larry said to me, “Hey just to let you know, it’ll probably be like this the whole night.” He gave a very we don’t care about you type attitude.

I was fed up at this point, they were playing music, drinking, and laughing so loud that i could hear it over the music.

I made a decision to move into my moms bed because it was a little farther away from where they were. To no avail I still couldn’t really fall asleep.

Fast forward to about 4am in the morning and I hear a moaning noise. At first I thought that it was someone watching adult videos, but then I realized that it was my mother.

To clarify my room and her room are basically right next to each other. She was getting intimate in my bed, in my room, where I sleep.

I was absolutely livid. It went on for a while, I honestly played music on my phone so I wouldn’t hear it. After sometime I find out it is Larry whom my mom slept with on my bed.

I wait until he leaves and it’s time for me to go to work, I get up and start packing my things. My mom gets up and I let her have it, I rip into her and let her know that she is disrespectful of my space and how I always respect her and who does this to their son.

It ended with us having a major argument and me moving in with my dad. We talked about it over breakfast on a later date and she apologized, but I don’t think I can ever see her the same as I saw her before.

I know that alcohol makes you do crazy things but I never thought to this degree. I have talked to her a number of times but recently I have blocked her from texting me.

I developed major trust issues with women because I thought they all were going to humiliate me like my mother did, I have major problems with anxiety so I now feel emasculated, my self confidence is non existent, and it still haunts me to this day.

My family is telling me to forgive her but I haven’t told them the full story because my mom doesn’t want them to know. I honestly am at my wit’s end, I still love her but I just never want to be put in a situation like that ever again.

TWO MEN TO BE CHARGED WITH OFFENCES IN RELATION TO A CASE OF OUTRAGE OF MODESTY

Two men, aged 36 and 37, will be charged in court on 6 November 2023 with offences in relation to a case of outrage of modesty. 

On 16 September 2023, Police officers were patrolling along Connaught Drive when they came across a dispute between two men. It was established that a 36-year-old man had allegedly molested a 20-year-old female victim along Connaught Drive. Another 37-year-old man, who was known to the 36-year-old man, then allegedly got into a fight with a 25-year-old man and pushed another 24-year-old woman during a scuffle. Both the 25-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were known to the female victim. 

Both men will be charged in court on 6 November 2023 for the following offences:

  • The 36-year-old man will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. 
  • The 37-year-old man will be charged with one count of criminal force under Section 352 of the Penal Code 1871, one count of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code 1871, and one count of affray under Section 267B of the Penal Code 1871. 

The offence of outrage of modesty carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments. The offence of criminal force carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 months, or a fine of up to $1,500, or both. The offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, or with fine of up to $5,000, or both. The offence of affray carries an imprisonment term of up to one year, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community, as well as acts of violence with blatant disregard of the law. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.

As they made their way through the venue, a man in a floral shirt suddenly approached Karen from the opposite direction.

In a shocking turn of events, he allegedly extended his right arm and grabbed Karen’s right thigh. The timing and nature of the touch left Karen baffled.

She emphasized that the area wasn’t crowded, and there was plenty of space around them. She said that even if the man swung his arms while he was walking, it would be impossible for him to accidentally touch her. However, he allegedly reached out his right arm and touched her right thigh firmly.

Confrontation and Chaos

Kaci and Bryan, who witnessed the incident from behind, couldn’t let this disrespectful act go unnoticed. They verbally confronted the man about his inappropriate behavior, but the man adamantly denied any wrongdoing.

The situation escalated when a man in a red shirt joined the commotion. He forcefully shoved Kaci and Bryan, causing them both to fall to the ground.

Karen expressed her belief that the man in the red shirt might not have fully understood the situation and reacted impulsively by resorting to physical violence.

Subsequently, a brawl broke out between the man in the red shirt and Bryan, further escalating the already chaotic scene.

Even the accused’s wife seemed to doubt Karen’s claims, asking, “Why would he touch you?” The situation spiraled out of control, leading to the eventual arrival of the police.

Police Intervention

The police were summoned to the F1 Singapore Grand Prix premises at 10:48 pm on September 16 in response to the distressing situation.

They swiftly took action, arresting the 36-year-old man for outrage of modesty. Another 37-year-old man was also brought in to assist with investigations into the incident, as he was involved in causing harm during the altercation.

At first, I thought my boss was a good guy. He was friendly and always had a smile on his face. He often gave us free food and drinks, as well as compliments. We all enjoyed working for him and thought he was a great boss.

But then one month, the paychecks were late and we were starting to worry. My boss kept telling us that he was just waiting for the money to come in. But as the weeks went by, we began to realize that something was wrong. We started to suspect that our boss had been embezzling money from the business.

Sure enough, one day my boss disappeared without a trace. It turned out that he had been taking small amounts of money from our salaries and using it to pay his personal bills. He had also taken out a loan to cover some of the expenses and was unable to repay it.

I was devastated. Not only had I lost my job, but I was also out of the money I had been counting on to pay my rent and other bills. I was angry and felt betrayed by my former boss. I wanted to get my money back, but I had no idea how to do it.

My boss had gone missing, and I had no way to find him. I was so desperate that I even considered hiring a private investigator to try and locate him. But in the end, I decided against it. I figured that if I went to the police, they wouldn’t be able to do anything either.

In November – December I found out that my dad was cheating on my mom for 2 years with my teacher(Not a school teacher just some random girl who taught me and my brother tuition) after a bit my mom goes to stay with her parents after she confronted dad about the cheating.

My dad started saying what he did was fine and she shouldn’t have to apologise for anything that he did. My mom divorced him and I found out about this in December 23th and my dad has still not told us about what he did, thinking we do not know anything (me and my older brother haven’t told him we know only our oldest brother has)

My dad keeps trying to himself look good for out mom for example im gonna buy a gift to my mom and he says “tell ur mom I bought that” it annoys me a lot and I don’t see him as the person I looked up to before.

My dad also spread rumours about my mom stealing his money and more nasty rumours and it just pissed me off more. (My dad always beat me and my siblings when we were kids) I have trouble showing emotions and I have anxiety because of him. I keep telling him that my mom won’t come back and the next time he tells me that I should hope that he and my mom get back together I would say “Dad, mom dosnt want u anywhere near her and u should accept it and move on”.

Hi, could anyone please confirm if my approach is correct? Additionally, I would appreciate your feedback or advice.

I am a 35-year-old foreigner who had been unemployed for seven months since April, including the period after my last job interview, which eventually led to my current position. I dedicated numerous hours every day to job applications. The time spent editing my resume and writing cover letters was incredibly extensive. I even recorded my applications in an Excel sheet, totalling just over 200. Despite holding a PhD in life sciences from a local university and having 3 years of work experience, I found it deeply disheartening not to receive a single job offer in about six months. Out of these 200+ applications, I only had five job interviews, all of which I believe I performed extremely well in. The challenges arose due to factors such as retrenchment, the closure of biotech start-ups, switch in government’s plan for the nation, and funding cuts across research institutes. Moreover, there have been restrictions on hiring foreigners over the past 6-7 months, as observed from my foreign friends who also struggled to find jobs in Singapore. Regardless of my skills, background, knowledge, and experience aligning with job descriptions, I suspect my applications were often disregarded based on nationality.

After three months of job hunting, I broadened my options to include opportunities slightly outside my expertise, including non-research roles. About three months later, I progressed through two rounds of interviews for a position I’m not particularly interested in. I decided to accept it to sustain myself financially, planning to explore better opportunities in research later on. I couldn’t afford to stay unemployed any longer, so I opted for this job that could provide income, even if it wasn’t my ideal choice.

Here’s where the discouragement sets in. Some of my friends, including locals, criticized me for taking a job meant for more qualified candidates. They argued that these candidates might be more passionate and productive, thus it would be better for the company to hire them instead. Others questioned why I would settle for a job unsuited to my interests, implying that it would lead me back to square one if I quit after a few months. They also questioned the value of learning new skills if I wouldn’t use them in the long run when I returned to research.

I understand that highly qualified jobs are valuable and might be better suited for candidates with more relevant skills. However, am I wrong for taking a job out of necessity?
