WOMAN’S ONLINE DATE ASKED HER TO BE HIS GF AFTER A FEW DATES, THEN ASK FOR $2K LOAN

0

Am I getting love scammed?

I met this guy 34M(interior designer) on bumble about 2.5 months ago and we went on a few dates. He had asked me to his girlfriend on the 3rd date to which i agreed but it kind of fizzled out after awhile but we are now back in contact again.

I have been to his condo(which he used to stay with his late mum) a few times too and he stays alone. His mother has passed away about 2 years and his dad was never around.

Today he suddenly asked me for a favour and asked if i could lend him $2k and he’d return me in october. He did say its ok to say no and then later on he said he just sold his condo and the money will only come in october and hence right now he needs some cash for the removals and stuff.

I find this a little suspicious because he always seemed the kind that didnt have any financial problems and he usually paid for most of our meals.

I dont mind lending him about 1k because i just graduted uni and am starting my new job soon and dont have much to myself either.

So was wondering what are yours opinions…. im afraid he will disappear once i lend him the money.. does this sound suspicious or legitimate request.. i do like him alot but im afraid i might be blinded

Netizens’ comments

  1. Consider: even if it was NOT a scam, would you want to be in a relationship with someone that asks for $2k after less than 3 months? Either that person is really bad/irresponsible with finances or they’re trying to take advantage of you. Can you live your life with this person?
  2. In any case, a 34M interior designer who doesn’t even have $2K handy or can’t manage his finances to need $2K is a red flag, scam or no scam.
  3. Scam. Can sell condo but no money on hand? Don’t even think of lending 1k, that money you can kiss goodbye

Dr. Teoh Kar Hao, a Singapore-born British doctor, met a tragic end during a family vacation in South Africa.

The 40-year-old, who was known as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex, was caught in the crossfire of a taxi strike in Cape Town and fatally shot in the head, according to BBC News.

Wrong turn that led to his death

Tragedy struck on August 3rd when Dr. Teoh was navigating the streets of Cape Town.

A wrong turn led him into a dire situation, as he inadvertently drove into the midst of a group of protestors who were engaged in a taxi strike at Ntlangano Crescent in the Nyanga township.

In an unfortunate twist of fate, Dr. Teoh found himself caught in the crossfire of the protest, with devastating consequences.

As tensions flared and chaos ensued, Dr. Teoh became a victim of circumstances beyond his control.

Suspects from the protesting group approached his vehicle, and in an act of senseless violence, he was shot in the head and fatally wounded.

The police minister’s spokesperson confirmed the tragic event, stating, “In Ntlangano Crescent, a number of suspects approached his vehicle, shot and killed him.”

NAMEWEE SAYS S’PORE DOESN’T OFFER MUCH FOR TOURISM & THAT M’SIA FOOD IS BETTER

0

Malaysian rapper Namewee has once again stirred the pot in the friendly rivalry between Malaysia and Singapore.

In a recent YouTube video posted on his channel, Namewee took on the task of ranking popular holiday destinations in Asia across five distinct categories.

With his characteristic wit and candor, he assigned grades ranging from S (the best) to C (the worst) to each country based on their performance in food, sightseeing, traffic, safety, and kindness.

Malaysian Food vs. Singaporean Delights

Unsurprisingly, the opening round of this lighthearted battle centered on none other than food. As a proud Malaysian, Namewee unequivocally declared the supremacy of Malaysian cuisine over Singapore’s.

The distinction, however, was subtle yet significant. Both countries received an ‘A’ grade, signifying excellence in gastronomy.

Namewee’s cheeky take on the rivalry shone through as he quipped, “This is the one that Malaysians quarrel with the most. Which country does bak kut teh belong to? Which country does satay belong to? Who invented Hainanese chicken rice?” Despite the shared grade, the age-old debate continued to engage.

Namewee didn’t shy away from acknowledging the innovative flair of Singaporean culinary adaptations. He acknowledged the uniqueness of Singapore’s bak kut teh, albeit with a peppery twist.

A Glimpse Beyond the Plate: Sightseeing and Beyond

Transitioning from the table to the tour, Namewee ventured into the realm of sightseeing, where Singapore faced a slightly less flattering verdict.

Awarded a ‘C’ grade in this category, the Lion City found itself in a different light. Namewee playfully remarked, “This place actually doesn’t offer much for tourism.”

He went on to explain that while the tourist destinations are undeniably impressive and meticulously crafted, they lack a certain intangible essence—the elusive “holiday mood.”

While he acknowledged iconic landmarks like Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion, the absence of a deep sense of leisure appeared to influence his ranking.

Yet, Namewee recognized Singapore’s concerted efforts in constructing these attractions, underlining their commitment to creating captivating visuals for visitors.

His perspective offered a reminder that travel experiences are often shaped by intangibles beyond the physical allure.

Kindness: A Window into Cultural Dynamics

Intriguingly, the assessment of kindness provided a unique lens through which Namewee observed the cultural dynamics at play.

Expressing his perceptions, he described Singaporeans as meticulous and possibly more rigid, contrasting them with the warm sociability that characterizes Malaysian interactions.

His observations extended to the prioritization of law in Singapore, leading to a more rule-based approach in social interactions.

Namewee’s perspective, while light-hearted, subtly highlighted the differing societal norms and values between the two nations.

In Conclusion: A Playful Verdict with Deeper Reflections

As Namewee playfully crowned Malaysian cuisine the ‘victor’ and offered his entertaining and insightful rankings, he added layers of nuance to the timeless rivalry between Malaysia and Singapore.

Beyond the jovial banter, his assessments unveiled cultural nuances and prompted contemplation on the multifaceted aspects that define a destination.

WOMAN EATING HER CHOCOLATE BAR, FOUND A HUMAN FINGER INSIDE WHILE CHEWING

0

In a bizarre and unsettling incident that has sent shockwaves through Sri Lanka, a woman’s innocent enjoyment of a “fruit and nut” chocolate bar took a horrifying turn. What began as a simple treat turned into a perplexing encounter that left her reeling in astonishment and disgust.

Unwrapping a Disturbing Surprise

A woman in Sri Lanka unwrapped a chocolate bar to eat, and as she savored her chocolate, she encountered an unexpected crunch.

What should have been a delightful mixture of fruit and nuts turned out to be an abnormally hard and resistant object.

Upon closer inspection, her shock and horror became evident as the supposedly innocuous object she had been attempting to bite into turned out to be a part of a human finger.

Unraveling the Mystery

The woman, a staff member of the Mahiyanganaya hospital, recounted her disconcerting experience. She had purchased the ill-fated chocolate bar from the hospital canteen, completely unaware of the disturbing contents concealed within, according to The Daily News.

The incident unfolded over a span of days. After initially taking a few bites of the chocolate, she stowed the remainder in her fridge. Days later, she went back for the leftover chocolate to finish it.

Curiosity led her to inspect a peculiar bump in the chocolate bar. Believing it to be a nut, she attempted to exert more force, hoping to break it down. Despite her efforts, the object remained unyielding.

With a growing sense of unease, the woman decided to investigate further. Holding the bump under a tap, she watched in disbelief as the truth emerged. The object she had been grappling with was, in fact, the severed tip of a human finger.

As the shocking incident came to light, disturbing photographs circulated on social media. The images depicted the dismembered finger, complete with an attached nail, and skin that was visibly peeling off.

Consumed by a mix of emotions including horror and disgust, the woman promptly reported the unsettling discovery to health officials in her area. The incident triggered a chain of events that would uncover even more troubling details.

Seeking Accountability and Answers

Public Health Inspectors (PHI) stepped in, conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. They seized other chocolate products manufactured by the company responsible after examining the affected chocolate bar and the hospital canteen.

In a bid to contain the potential fallout of the incident, the variety of chocolate implicated was swiftly recalled from store shelves in Mahiyanganaya town.

S’PORE SHOP CHARGES EXTRA 20 CENTS FOR CASHLESS PAYMENTS, NETIZENS ASK “IS THIS ALLOWED”

0

In recent times, the realm of consumer complaints in Singapore has been dominated by reports of stalls imposing steep prices for meals, generating waves of public outrage.

However, a fresh concern has emerged, this time in connection with contactless payments. The spotlight is now on a particular shop in Singapore that has garnered widespread attention for levying a S$0.20 charge on customers opting for cashless transactions, sparking a vigorous debate on the subject.

The Viral Outrage

On a fateful Wednesday (9 Aug), a concerned netizen took to the Complaint Singapore page on Facebook to share her recent experience at a local shop.

The pivotal point of her grievance was a seemingly innocuous QR code affixed to the shop’s premises, inviting patrons to make payments through their respective bank applications.

This modern and convenient payment method, however, came with an unexpected price tag – an extra S$0.20 fee.

Unraveling the Dilemma

The observant netizen couldn’t help but voice her perplexity over this peculiar practice. She raised a valid question – if PayNow, a prominent digital payment platform in Singapore, is devoid of charges, why was this particular shop burdening its customers with an additional fee?

Amidst the growing cacophony of opinions, the netizen threw another question into the ring – do businesses receive incentives or grants for adopting cashless payment systems?

This query hints at a larger consideration: if businesses are indeed incentivized to embrace cashless transactions by the government, should they then be imposing additional charges on customers who choose this mode of payment?

Netizens’ comments

  1. No it’s not true.. I run a business.. this qr code payment Is free we don’t have to pay any service charge.. pse report the shop
  2. There is no bank fee charge per transaction if QR code is UEN paynow but only charge merchant service & admin fee monthly. So this doesn’t matter with the consumers. Consumers shouldn’t pay this unknown fee while merchants have grants to claim from gov. Kindly report to MAS if you wish to. But can choose to ignore and just pay CASH
  3. Bank do charge Merchant for Paynow transactions. It’s not free
  4. I also run a business. My customers pay me via my UEN/QR code without any extra charges or fees. My bank also do not charge me any extras.
  5. Nb so free or not free?

LITTLE INDIA BAR OWNER ALLEGEDLY RAPED 17 Y.O XMM WHO RAN AWAY FROM HOME

0

41-year-old Raj Jumar Bala, the owner of a bar in Little India, went on trial on 10 August after being accused of molesting and raping a 17-year-old girl who ran away from the Singapore Girls’ Home and started working for him, according to The Straits Times.

The prosecution had lined up 13 witnesses to testify against Raj Kumar.

What happened?

The alleged offences took place between 21 February 2020 to 22 February 2020 at a rental flat.

A witness identified as B1, who had also run away from home, testified that she had been working and staying at Kumar’s bar in Dunlop Street after coming to know about the job opportunity from another witness, B2, who was also a runaway as well.

B1 had allegedly been assaulted by Kumar but continued staying at the bar because she was pregnant and a runaway.

The victim and a friend then learned from B2 about the job opportunity in February 2020 and went to interview for a job, and were hired by Raj Kumar who told them that she could stay at the bar with B1 and B2.

The bar was then raided on 21 February after someone acquainted with the runaway girls reported that they were working at Kumar’s bar.

He drove the three girls to a rented flat and said that they could stay there, before arranging for a staff to send their belongings over, as well as providing them with food and alcohol.

Kumar then proceeded to drink with the girls, with the victim then getting very drunk, before he allegedly engaged in obscene acts with the victim and B1 on the 2nd floor of the unit.

B1 then witnessed Kumar raping and molesting the victim, who couldn’t fend him off because she was too intoxicated.

The following morning, the victim told B2 that she was raped and left the flat, before heading to Kumar’s bar to collect her salary.

She then went to stay with a friend and told him about what had happened to her about 2-3 weeks later, before eventually turning herself in to the home (which she had run away from) on 20 July 2020.

On 5 August 2020, she then told her Ministry of Social and Family Development case worker that she had been raped.
