BLUESG DRIVER CHARGED $650 FOR BROKEN MIRROR, “I THOUGHT COVERED BY INSURANCE”

0

Facebook user Vernon Tay shared how he met with a “small accident” while driving a BlueSG car and broke the side mirror of the vehicle.

He revealed that he was charged $650 for the damage and asked if he was overcharged, adding that “I thought it should be covered by insurance?”

He also added that his membership was tied to his credit card and BlueSG can directly bill him the amount.

Here is what he said

I met a small accident few weeks ago driving a bluesg car. There was no problem with the car but as it was my first time driving the new Opel model, I did not swerve fast enough and knocked onto a lorry and damaged the left front side mirror.

BlueSG charged me $650 for the damage. Did they overcharge me? Because I thought it should be covered by insurance.

There is no form of retaliation I can have as my membership is tied to my credit card and they can bill me immediately the amount.

Netizens’ comments

  1. considered yourself lucky not claim under insurance excess. you probably will jaw drop for the smallest damage
  2. Should have gone to any workshop and fix first before reporting…it’ll only cost you a fraction of what they are asking
  3. $650 maybe not only for the actual damage.
The down time for the car to be sent for repair. The manpower, the admin fees etc are likely the main cost.
As you said it’s an accident. If you drive your own car and claim excess, likely it’s gonna be around $500 at least (if you do OD claim). So ya..
  4. See all those electrical ,wiring n electronics parts?
Modern side mirrors aren’t just old skool side mirrors like 20-30yrs ago which made up of only mirror n plastic.
Plus the losses for sending to workshop to get it repaired
  5. Replacing side mirror should not be so ex. Likely they billed you a lump sum. Anyway, you have to accept as you’re a customer whom have already agreed to all their terms and conditions. No way for you to oppose.

WOMAN HIRED LOUSY PAINTERS WITH NO SKILL, MIGHT AS WELL HIRE AH LONG TO PAINT

Facebook user Yee En Lai shared how she hired a company for their painting services, and the resulting works turned out to be below par.

She said that the works were supposed to be finished in one day but the workers couldn’t complete it within the timeframe, and there were paint splotches across her unit, including on her leather sofa.

She also added that the company allegedly ignored her requests for corrective and touch up work.

Here is what she said

NIGHTMARE!!! I do not make noise on social media – for the 1st time, I need to as the business owners, have gone too far!

Engaged *company name redacted* for painting services and it turned out to be a BIG MISTAKE! Painting work was supposed to finish in ONE DAY, but the incompetent workers failed to complete. Only painting but the mess created looks as if I am renovating my 4-rm flat.

I am super disappointed that the company ignored my requests for corrective and touch up work. None of my concerns raised was being addressed. A few to name:

1) Used a dirty, old & rusty recycle tin for the NEW COLOURED paint. The business owner even said it is a clean & washed PAIL. OMG!!

2) Workers locked bedroom doors when painting. NOT ONCE but TWICE and subsequently closed doors!

3) Basic painting is to tape the edge, but they did not. Paint stains on floor tiles, cabinets, sofa, fan, wardrobe and worst, paint stuck on NEW AIRCON installed for only a few days!! SHAME ON THEM!!

4) Release customer’s address to a 3rd party without seeking consent. MAJOR CONCERN & yet the company did not provide an explanation as requested.

They do NOT feel apologetic at all!!

NO MORE 2nd chance given for being:

– Irresponsible & dishonest

– ZERO Integrity & business ethic

– Inexperienced “painters” with horrible workmanship

– Unprofessional, immature, and childish behaviour

CHAOS AFTER LORRY SWERVES INTO CAR & MOTORCYCLES ALONG SLE, 5 PEOPLE INJURED

Tragedy struck on July 6 when a lorry lost control along the Seletar Expressway (SLE) and collided with a car and several motorcycles, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The incident, which occurred around 8:20 a.m. on the SLE towards Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) before the Lentor Avenue exit, left five motorcyclists injured.

Video footage capturing the accident and its aftermath was uploaded to SGRV Admin’s Facebook page, shedding light on the harrowing incident that unfolded.

According to the video footage, a lorry was traveling ahead of a black car on the middle lane of the expressway when it suddenly veered to the right.

It appeared that the lorry collided with multiple motorcycles, causing them to hit the side of a white car in the first lane. The impact of the collision was severe, and at least one motorcyclist riding further behind attempted to halt but ended up falling as well.

The scene was chaotic and alarming, with injured motorcyclists seeking refuge on the side of the road while awaiting medical assistance.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were deployed to the scene. Upon their arrival, the injured motorcyclists were attended to and provided with necessary medical aid.

They were then transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, with all five individuals reported to be conscious during the conveyance.

In the wake of the accident, the police initiated investigations to determine the circumstances and causes leading up to the collision.

Other recent accidents

Earlier this week, a 70-year-old man was killed following an accident along Upper Thomson Road when a lorry crashed through a road divider and ran over the car that the deceased was in.

Dashcam footage captured the terrifying sequence of events leading to the accident. As the dashcam vehicle traveled along Upper Thomson Road towards Lornie Road, a lorry from the opposite direction suddenly broke through the divider.

The impact was catastrophic, sending tree branches and leaves flying everywhere, and causing a full-force collision with an unsuspecting car in the adjacent lane.

The force of the impact then pushed the car into a van, compounding the damage and further endangering the lives of those involved.

Upon receiving an alert at approximately 10:10 am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) promptly dispatched officers to the scene.

They discovered that the elderly driver of the car was trapped in the driver’s seat, requiring immediate medical attention. SCDF paramedics provided vital medical assistance, stabilizing the man’s injuries while rescuers worked tirelessly to free his legs, which were trapped under the dashboard.

The rescue operation required the use of hydraulic rescue equipment to cut and remove the car’s roof, allowing for the safe extrication of the injured driver.

Following the rescue operation, the injured driver was swiftly conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Throughout the journey, paramedics continued to provide necessary care to the patient.

Two other individuals involved in the accident were also assessed by paramedics for minor injuries. However, they declined further medical attention and transportation to the hospital.

Despite the efforts of the medical professionals and emergency response teams, the 70-year-old driver’s injuries proved to be fatal.

The victim, who remained conscious during the journey to the hospital, tragically passed away while receiving treatment.

The police have arrested the 26-year-old lorry driver responsible for the incident on charges of careless driving causing death. Investigations are currently ongoing.

SEMBAWANG HDB BURN UNTIL CHAOTAH, 2 SENT TO HOSPITAL FOR SMOKE & BURN INJURIES

0

On a Sunday morning, a fire broke out in a unit at Block 508A Wellington Circle, Sembawang. At approximately 1.40am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an alert about the fire.

Upon their arrival, they found black smoke emanating from a second-floor unit. Luckily, four individuals from the affected unit had already evacuated before the arrival of the SCDF.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the SCDF suggest that the fire originated from the battery of a power-assisted bicycle that was being charged in the bedroom.

Fires caused by the charging of batteries, particularly in close proximity to flammable materials, pose a significant risk. The ignition of the battery resulted in the subsequent blaze.

SCDF’s statement on Facebook

[Fire @ Block 508A, Wellington Circle]

Earlier this morning at about 1:40 a.m., SCDF was alerted to a fire at the abovementioned location.

Upon SCDF’s arrival, black smoke was emitting from a unit on the 2nd floor. Firefighters from Yishun Fire Station wearing breathing apparatus equipment entered the smoke-logged unit. The fire, which was confined to a bedroom, was extinguished with a water jet.

Four persons from the affected unit had evacuated prior to SCDF’s arrival. Two were conveyed by SCDF to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

About 80 residents from the affected block were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire had likely originated from the battery of a power-assisted bicycle (PAB) that was charging in the bedroom.

SCDF would like to remind the public on the prevention of PMD/PAB fires, including not to charge batteries for an extended period of time or overnight. Do not purchase or use non-original batteries. See the accompanying infographic for more fire safety tips.

COCO LEE BOUGHT 100KG OF FRUITS FROM STREET SELLER, WHO NEVER FORGOT HER KINDNESS

0

Following the news of Coco Lee’s death on 5 July, people from all walks of life have come forward to honor the cherished Hong Kong singer. Her music resonated with millions, but it was her compassion and benevolence that truly set her apart.

Among the numerous heartfelt messages, a poignant incident from 2016 has resurfaced, highlighting the loss of not only an iconic talent but also a genuinely caring individual.

In 2016, Lee was filming for a singing competition when she encountered Zhang Wang Han, an elderly street vendor selling oranges on the chilly streets of Changsha, China during the winter.

Coco Lee, along with the support of her mother and sister, decided to purchase 100kg of oranges from the elderly street vendor. Despite her busy schedule, Coco Lee recognized the importance of helping someone in need.

In a recent interview, the 83-year-old Zhang Wang Han emotionally recounted Coco Lee’s kindness from all those years ago.

The incident unfolded while Coco Lee was filming the fourth season of ‘I am a Singer’ in Changsha. Although she couldn’t personally buy the oranges, Coco Lee entrusted her mother and sister with the task of acquiring 100kg of oranges from the elderly vendor.

According to Yahoo! News Taiwan, Zhang Wang Han had to sell approximately 18,000kg of oranges to gather enough funds for his return home during Chinese New Year.

Coco Lee’s contribution extended beyond the purchase of oranges; she generously provided the elderly man with 2,000 yuan (equivalent to S$374) and essential supplements, along with warm clothing. Her care and concern went far beyond a simple act of charity.

Coco Lee took the initiative to distribute the purchased oranges to artists, staff, and audience members at the singing show, spreading joy and goodwill to all.

Her selfless gesture not only impacted Zhang Wang Han’s life but also left a lasting impression on those around her. It epitomized the true essence of humanity.

Upon hearing the news of Coco Lee’s untimely passing, the now 83-year-old Zhang Wang Han couldn’t help but shed tears.

Alongside the 100kg of oranges, Coco Lee dedicated significant efforts to package and distribute over 120,000kg of oranges in Zhang’s village. Her act of kindness became a symbol of hope for the entire community.

While Zhang regrets not having Coco Lee’s contact information, he remains grateful for her kind and selfless gesture, stating, “I still remember her kindness. I am very thankful for her.”

EXPAT CALLS $25K MONTHLY SALARY “MID LEVEL”, NETIZENS ANGRY

0

An expat shared about the animosity directed at them by locals before boasting of a monthly income of about $20k to $25k.

However, he then went on to describe the salary as mid-level, which drew the ire of netizens who called him out.

Here is what the expat had to say:

“Disclaimer: This post is not targeted at causing any racial tension or calling out either Singaporeans or Expats.

A little about me: I am an expat living in Singapore for just over 4 years in my early 30’s with my spouse and young child (also expats).

Both of us work in Tech at relatively mid-level jobs bringing in about 20-25k total a month.

We believe we live fairly modest lives, came from very average families and very average education.

Context: Of late, it feels like there is a lot of disdain and hate targeted at expats.

While these feelings have always been there and we have faced them, it’s never been as open and blatant as it is currently is.

Question: Do Singaporeans really feel threatened by expats that they will take your jobs, or are more preferred in the workforce?”

Editor’s note: $20k to $25k mid-level? What are you working as? Iron-Man?

WOMAN BLACKMAILED MAN, SAYS HIS DOG BIT HER – WANTS MONEY

0

A netizen shared how his neighbour is accusing his dog of biting her and blackmailing him into paying her money. He says that he is afraid of conflict and the woman is allegedly spreading the false story and threatening to get them in trouble. There is no CCTV evidence and it is just her word against his.

Here is the story:

“I am very afraid of conflict and my neighbour is basically blackmailing me now. Please can someone help me out and tell me what to do?

My neighbour is falsely accusing my dog of biting her but it never happened. I was there throughout.

However, there is no photo or CCTV evidence so it is just her word against mine.

She says she will get both me and her dog in legal trouble unless I pay her a certain sum of money.

I am a soft-spoken but big guy with a big dog and she is a small but loud lady who screams and exaggerates.

I don’t think I can out-talk her so she has a higher chance of convincing people that her false story is the true version.

This has caused me so much stress and fear and anxiety that I am even off sick from work now.

What is my best course of action? What are my best defences?”

Editor’s note: Just let her go ahead with her report bro, have faith in the justice system – the truth will prevail.
