GOLD-DIGGING INTERN XMMs TARGETING BANKERS AT WORK FOR THEIR MONEY

0

This is bothering me for a while. A while ago I was doing internship in a bank, there I met a NUS senior of my age. She’s 23 just like me, I kinda have a crush on her. The thing is she has a bf who works in the same bank and she is getting married this year. The BF is 36 years old and is a senior banker. They both been dating for 2 years, when she did the same internship.

I found out later that this phenomenon is common in the bank, with many dudes around 10-15 years older than their spouse. Another intern(21) also dated one dude 9 years older because he has a car, condo and a 100k salary package.

At this rate all the good ones are getting hunted by all these rich old man. To the girls, Isn’t it really disgusting to date someone almost 1.5 times older than you?

Recently I shared this thought with a friend, and she told me that if she was could find a 100k per annum dude with a car and condo, she’d marry him no matter how bad he is. Worst come to worst she could just divorce and ask for alimony.

What is this world coming to? Maybe I should go for dudes instead.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Orrrrrrr you can find women that earn 100k and is 1.5 times older than you with car and condo. Learn, adapt and survive bro.
  • Your very mindset is why they don’t go for guys around their age. Think about it logically, would you go for someone new in his career who gets emotional like this instead of thinking how to be a 100k earner or one a decade ahead who can provide in more ways than one?
  • Sad reality of life, not many woman wants a man who’s a “work in progress”. Stay strong bro.
  • Just wait another 10 years and you might become like them

DRIVER KENA SAMAN, ASK FRIEND TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE HE KENA WHILE FETCHING HIM

0

I work remotely and a few months ago I went to the office for a few days to get some face-face time with my colleagues. On my last day, one of my colleagues offered to give me a ride and there was a hidden speed camera and he got flashed.

At the time he just brushed it off like it was nothing and we went on with our lives.

Anyway, a month ago he sends me a message saying “So I just got the ticket. How are we going to do this?” I asked for clarification because I wasn’t really sure what he meant, but it turns out he wants me to pitch in for the fine.

At this point I’m just thinking “But…I wasn’t driving….” and we have a small back and forth about this and I assumed we had resolved it and put it behind me.

This morning, his wife messages me basically saying that it is incredibly unfair of me to have not paid my share of the ticket and that they expect me to pay them back because they paid it in full. I was really surprised to receive this message because I assumed it was resolved and quite honestly, it wasn’t expensive at all and I could easily part with the money for the entire ticket if need be.

To be told “He wouldn’t have had a speeding ticket if he wasn’t driving you” felt especially rich to me considering that he actually wouldn’t have had a speeding ticket if he wasn’t speeding – something I had no control over at all as a passenger.

I have not yet responded to her and to be honest, I feel like if I don’t pay them, I’m being the petty person. At the same time, on principle it feels wrong to give in.

Extra info: I know this particular colleague quite well as we used to work at another company together. I know his family and they know mine as they’ve come to visit and stay with us as well and I would say we are relatively close – as far as colleagues go.

I also know for a fact that they aren’t exactly struggling financially. We work in one of the top 5 most paid industries. I know that I get paid pretty handsomely for my work, and the guy has a pretty senior role to me and definitely earns quite a lot more than I do.

The industry wis wife works in also has her earning nearly 10k more than he does a year from what he’s told me, and as I mentioned, we get paid pretty well. I wouldn’t have thought twice otherwise, but I just feel like this is petty on their part, especially considering how small of an amount the fine actually is.

Info: I was not running late, nor was I asking him to pick up the pace at any point in time. I had initially planned to walk to the train station, but he kindly volunteered to take me.

MAN FULFILLED DREAM OF OWNING CAR BUT IT TURNED INTO NIGHTMARE, MONEY DRAIN FAST

0

To many people, I would suppose owning a car is a dream that they always wanted to have.

I have the chance now that many would have wished for but to me it is not a dream but rather a nightmare. I am lucky enough to come from a well to do family and my parents wanted to buy me a car for my birthday this year.

The issue is that I cant seem to pass my driving tests at all. I have taken over 30 lessons so far and had taken and failed 3 tests. 2 of the tests I had an immediate failure while I chalked up above 40 points for the last test. I had spent about $6000 so far on driving which I feel is such a waste of money. My dad has been encouraging me to continue and that I will pass one day.

Yeah sure I may pass one day out of luck after 10 or 20 tries maybe? I feel so stressful whenever I am sitting behind the drivers seat now. To me, I would rather not have any car and just take public transport everyday to and fro work where its so much more relaxing.

I am not even confident of driving on the road or changing lanes even if I pass. I feel its so hard to change lanes when there are so many vehicles around. I almost got into accidents few times even when there is the instructor around me and I can feel that the instructor is also very stressed when hes teaching me. I am probably the worst student he ever had. Singapore traffic is so bad with so many vehicles, what for add to the stress with driving when I can sit on the MRT or bus and just watch my netflix shows.

I am thinking of giving up driving entirely but I am not sure how do I break it to my parents. I am sure they will be disappointed with me as they really had hoped for me to be able to drive them around. At the same time I also feel bad that I had spent about $6000 of their money yet not achieving anything in the end.

49 Y.O MAN THREW FIRECRACKER AT KIDS AS A “JOKE” AT JURONG PLAYGROUND, FINED $3.5K

0

In a shocking incident at a playground near a block of flats, a man played a dangerous prank by throwing a firecracker towards a group of children at a playground along Jurong.

The man, 49-year-old Ramdan Bujan, pleaded guilty to a charge of discharging fireworks and was fined $3,500 on Monday (19 June).

What happened?

On July 28, 2022, at a Housing Board block in Jurong, Ramdan Bujan, a driver in the construction industry, committed an act that endangered the safety of others. At around 3:40 p.m., a group of children, including two 10-year-old boys, a nine-year-old boy, and their friends, were enjoying themselves at the playground on the block’s first floor.

One of the boys noticed Ramdan behaving suspiciously in the common corridor and decided to keep a watchful eye on him. Ramdan, moving between lift lobbies, suddenly threw a burning spherical object towards the children. The object exploded with a loud noise, causing immense fright and prompting the children to flee from the scene in fear.

Alarmed by the explosion, one of the children approached an adult passer-by who promptly called the police. When the officers arrived, two of the boys informed them that a man had thrown something that had exploded. Armed with this description, the police quickly located Ramdan at his residence.

Initially, Ramdan denied any involvement in the incident. However, when faced with the evidence captured by a police camera, which showed him leaving his home with a spherical object in hand, and witnessing the children running towards the block, Ramdan eventually admitted to throwing the firecracker as a misguided “joke.”

Called the firecracker a Chilli Padi

Ramdan Bujan was charged with discharging fireworks, an offense that posed a threat to the safety of others. During the sentencing, an additional charge of endangering the personal safety of others by committing a rash act was taken into consideration. Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Yanying presented the case, recommending a fine ranging from $3,000 to $4,000.

Ramdan’s lawyer, Mr. S.S. Dhillon, pleaded for a minimum fine of $2,500, stating that the firecracker involved was a small one, commonly known as a “chilli padi” in Malay. Ramdan claimed to have found it on the pavement near a bus stop a year earlier and decided to keep it. According to his lawyer, Ramdan lit the firecracker for what he thought would be harmless fun. Fortunately, no one was injured, and no property was damaged.

Considering Ramdan’s remorse for his actions, his lawyer’s statements regarding his financial responsibilities as the sole breadwinner of his family, and his status as a first-time offender, the defense sought leniency in the form of a lower fine. Ultimately, the court fined Ramdan Bujan $3,500 as punishment for his reckless behavior.

MAN WENT SNORKELING, FINDS $20K ROLEX AT BOTTOM OF OCEAN THAT IS STILL TICKING

0

Off the coast of Noosa, a coastal town in Queensland, Australia, Matt Cuddihy, an intrepid surfer and ocean explorer, stumbled upon something extraordinary.

While enjoying the surf, he noticed an unusual sight—an assortment of sand and rocks exposed by shifting tides. Little did he know that this chance encounter would lead to the discovery of a treasure from the depths.

Among the rocks, Cuddihy found seven surfboard fins, along with a remarkable Rolex Submariner watch. The watch’s glass was partially frosted from years of sand moving around it, revealing a fascinating story waiting to be unveiled.

Cuddihy couldn’t believe his eyes when he stumbled upon this hidden treasure. After capturing the moment with his trusty GoPro, he initially thought it might be a counterfeit Rolex from Bali.

Intrigued by his discovery, he shared images of the watch on Instagram, unveiling a timepiece encrusted with ocean debris—a testament to its extended underwater voyage.

The watch appeared to be a Rolex Submariner reference 14060, though later corrected to be a Submariner ref. 5513.

Curiosity piqued, Cuddihy decided to examine the watch more closely. He carefully cleaned it with fresh water, removing sand, salt, and organisms that had accumulated over time.

Despite the major corrosion on the bezel, the watch’s second hand continued its steady motion. However, the crown was jammed, limiting its ability to display the accurate time.

Nevertheless, the surviving mechanics of the watch painted a vivid picture of its resilience against the harsh underwater conditions.

Cuddihy’s love for Australia’s picturesque coastlines often took him on underwater adventures, collecting various debris that had found its way to the seafloor.

His routine snorkeling trips around Noosa’s points, when the surf was calm, allowed him to encounter mesmerizing marine life and explore the local turtle population.

Lately, he had observed an influx of unusual objects that didn’t belong there, prompting him to dedicate a weekly snorkeling expedition to collecting garbage, such as surfboard fins and fishing lures, which got wedged between rocks.

This wasn’t the first time Cuddihy had discovered a valuable item while exploring the ocean depths. Through his Instagram posts showcasing his findings, he had managed to reunite a lost surfboard fin with its rightful owner, a fellow surfer who had misplaced it at the same spot where Cuddihy had found it.

Another notable reunion was with an Apple Watch that had succumbed to the waves. Cuddihy’s keen eye and dedication to his community led him to find the lost timepiece and return it to its grateful owner.

As for the Rolex Submariner, Cuddihy entrusted it to a friend who has a passion for collecting these iconic timepieces. An evaluation and inspection by experts are in progress, ensuring that the watch receives the care it deserves.

SCOOT FLIGHT TO S’PORE CANCELLED AFTER PLANE LOST A TYRE WHILE LANDING IN TAIWAN

0

Singapore’s Low-Cost Carrier Scoot encountered an unexpected incident during a recent flight, as one of its planes landed in Taipei with a missing wheel, according to reports from the Central News Agency and TVBS News.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, operating flight TR897 from Seoul to Taipei, experienced a technical fault during landing on June 19. Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport witnessed the safe landing of the aircraft shortly after midnight.

The mishap was discovered when it became apparent that the left nose wheel of the aircraft was missing upon inspection.

Normally, the landing gear of this aircraft model consists of two wheels under the nose to facilitate maneuvering on the runway.

With over 300 passengers onboard, the flight was reported to have encountered abnormal tire pressure prior to descent.

Astonishingly, only the right nose wheel remained intact, while the metal rim of the left wheel had fallen off. Additionally, the left wheel shaft was found to be damaged.

The exact location of the missing wheel remains uncertain, as it was not recovered on the runway by Taoyuan International Airport Corporation.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances, the subsequent flight from Taipei to Singapore had to be cancelled. Originally scheduled for 1:30 a.m. with an expected arrival time in Singapore at 5:55 a.m., the affected passengers were provided with necessary assistance, including accommodation and refunds, according to reports.

Scoot expressed their regrets and apologized for the distress and inconvenience caused by the missing wheel incident. They reassured the public that the safety of their passengers and crew remains their utmost priority, and they will continue to extend support to those affected.

Meanwhile, investigations into the incident have been initiated by Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration, led by Transport Minister Wang Kuo-tsai.

The damaged aircraft awaits the availability of replacement parts for necessary repairs. A replacement flight was arranged to accommodate the remaining passengers, scheduled to depart Taipei at 8:45 p.m. on the same day.

WOMAN WHO MADE DAD TAKE THE BLAME FOR HER IN TAMPINES ACCIDENT, JAILED & FINED

0

A woman in Singapore was sentenced to 17 weeks’ imprisonment after her father’s in-car camera exposed her lie about causing an accident.

Audrey Ong Hui Ling, aged 27, pleaded guilty to four charges, including perverting the course of justice, which led to her conviction. Additionally, she will be disqualified from driving for two years starting from her date of release.

Her defense lawyer, Mr. S.S. Dhillon, argued that her father had acted out of paternal instinct. The father, David Ong, who will face court in August, is also charged with perverting the course of justice and was present in court with his daughter during the trial.

Background

The incident took place in 2019 when Audrey, without a valid driving license, drove the car rented by her father, who worked as a Grab driver at the time.

On October 15, 2019, Audrey made a U-turn at Tampines Avenue 2 without checking for oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, who had the right of way, suffered a fractured wrist in the accident. Immediately after the collision, David allegedly offered to take responsibility for the incident and told Audrey that he would assume her place. She agreed to his proposal, and when the police arrived, David claimed to be the driver of the car.

David maintained this false account throughout the police statements and attributed the accident to his negligence and fatigue caused by long working hours.

In September 2020, he pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous hurt by a negligent act that endangers the life or safety of others. However, the truth eventually came to light when lawyers representing the victim discovered an audio recording from David’s in-car camera.

The recording contained a conversation between the father and daughter, revealing their conspiracy and leading to the exposure of Audrey’s lie.

Deputy public prosecutor Jean Goh sought a jail term of four months and one week to six months and two weeks for Audrey. Goh argued that Audrey not only caused grievous harm to the victim but also engaged in a prolonged conspiracy with her father to shift the blame onto him.

It was revealed that Audrey confessed to the truth only when faced with undeniable evidence against her. In mitigation, Mr. Dhillon emphasized the close relationship between Audrey and her father, stating that David had taken the blame out of paternal instinct and not because Audrey had instructed him to do so.

Mr. Dhillon also mentioned that David no longer works as a Grab driver and expressed the hardships Audrey experienced, witnessing her father serve a five-day sentence for her offense.
