S’PORE TEEN PLEADS GUILTY TO RAPING 8 Y.O SISTER, FATHER REPORTED HIM TO THE POLICE

0

A father of three took the difficult step of reporting his own teenage son to the authorities after discovering that he had attempted to rape his younger sister. The sister was only eight years old when the initial incident occurred in 2020, and it was later revealed that the boy, now 17, had attacked her again in 2022.

The teenager appeared before the court on Monday and admitted guilt to charges of attempted rape and attempted penetration. To protect the identity of the victim, a gag order has been imposed preventing the accused’s name from being published.

At the time of the assaults, the siblings, along with their brother, parents, and paternal grandmother, resided together in the same apartment.

Background

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Adelle Tai, the teenager was playing a game in the victim’s bedroom in June 2020 while she watched videos on her mobile phone. It was during this time that he attempted to rape her. She was unsure of how to react and did not resist.

The perpetrator also took explicit photographs of her body, which he later deleted but shared with a friend two months after the incident. In addition, he later confessed to his friend his desire to engage in obscene acts with his younger sister.

Between February 5 and July 27, 2022, while the siblings were home alone with their older brother, the offender attacked his sister once more. He entered her room but was unsuccessful in his attempt to penetrate her.

At this point, their mother walked in and discovered them in a compromising position. She questioned the boy and, upon his explanation that he was merely assisting the victim with pain in her private area, believed his story and warned him against repeating such actions, unaware of the true nature of the incident.

The crimes came to light when the teenager’s friend finally informed the school teachers about the 2020 incident. Subsequently, the school principal arranged a meeting with the teen and his parents on July 27, 2022. In August, the father filed a police report.

During Monday’s court session, further assessments were requested to determine the offender’s suitability for probation and reformative training. If assigned to reformative training, the teenager would be detained in a center and subjected to a structured program involving activities like foot drills and counseling.

The case has been adjourned until June 19.

SIAO ZHABOR WHO DROVE AT 215 KM/HR & CRASHED INTO 4 VEHICLES, KILLING 1 MAN, JAILED

35-year-old Ng Wen Xun pleaded guilty to two charges under the Road Traffic Act and was sentenced on Monday (29 May) to 30 months imprisonment, as well as being banned from holding or obtaining any type of driving license for 10 years after her release.

She was driving up to 215 km/hr along the Central Expressway on a road with a speed limit of 80km/hr, causing an accident with 4 other vehicles that resulted in one motorcyclist dying.

What happened?

On the evening of July 23, 2021, at approximately 9:20 pm, Ng was speeding on the CTE towards Seletar Expressway. However, she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to collide with the center guard railing before swerving to the left.

As a result of the collision, a motorcycle rider, aged 31, was ejected from the bike and sustained fatal injuries. Ng’s car then veered to the right, hitting a second motorcycle, a lorry, and another car.

The second motorcyclist, aged 28, was also thrown onto the road, while the lorry overturned, leading to two Bangladeshi passengers being ejected from the rear seats. Subsequently, Ng’s car crashed into the left-side guard railing of the CTE, came to a stop, and caught fire.

The older motorcyclist was unconscious when taken by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to multiple injuries later that evening.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Chin Jincheng stated that several of the other drivers involved in the accident were also taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. One of the Bangladeshi passengers, aged 26, suffered injuries, including a fractured left wrist, and was discharged after receiving nine days of medical leave. The other Bangladeshi passenger, aged 50, was hospitalized for nine days due to spinal fractures.

The younger motorcyclist survived the crash with injuries to his hands. He was admitted to the hospital overnight and discharged with five days of medical leave.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor also mentioned that at the time of the accident, traffic volume was moderate, the road surface was dry, the weather was clear, visibility was good, and the streetlights were functioning properly.

According to a report from the Health Sciences Authority, Ng had been driving at speeds ranging from 118 km/hr to 215 km/hr just prior to the crash.

Ng was granted bail of $15,000 and is expected to surrender herself at the State Courts on June 12 to begin serving her prison sentence.

MAN ORDERED DESSERT, ASKED FOR EXTRA EMPTY BOWL & GOT CHARGED $2.60 FOR IT

0

A netizen visited the Marine Parade Central Market and Food Centre with a group of friends and decided to treat their elderly companion to a bowl of cheng tng.

As the elderly person could not consume much, they requested an additional bowl from the stall. To their surprise, they were informed that there would be a S$2.60 surcharge for the extra bowl, according to Shin Min Daily News.

This was the first time they had encountered such a fee and found it unreasonable to pay for an empty bowl.

The dessert stall in question, Four Seasons Cendol, is the sole vendor of cheng tng at Marine Parade Central Market and Food Centre.

An employee named Ms Lin explained that the stall had stopped providing customers with extra bowls unless they were willing to pay the S$2.60 fee.

Ms Lin clarified that the surcharge was implemented for accounting purposes. The stall needed to keep track of the number of bowls used daily to match the number of desserts sold.

Previously, extra bowls were given to patrons free of charge, but many failed to return them directly to the stall, resulting in discrepancies in accounting and a shortfall in cash collected.

Four Seasons Cendol is not the only stall at the food centre that charges an “extra bowl fee.” Yew Kee Duck Rice and other stalls also levy a surcharge, although theirs is a smaller amount of S$0.10.

The reason cited by these stalls for the fee is the increased washing costs incurred due to the additional tableware.

A chicken rice stall owner mentioned that they charged S$0.10 per extra bowl but sometimes offered them for free, especially when customers ordered a large amount of food or had children.

The cost of cleaning and washing tableware is a significant expense for the stalls at Marine Parade Food Centre, amounting to over S$1,000 per month.

According to Mr Cheng Wenxing, chairman of the Marine Parade Merchants’ Association, washing a big bowl costs S$0.12, while a small bowl costs S$0.07.

Each stall has to bear the cost of additional washing fees when more bowls are given out to customers. In addition to that, there are general cleaning fees for table wiping, totalling S$480 per stall.

WOMAN BIT ONTO SHARP PIECE OF PLASTIC SHARD @ GENKI SUSHI, GOT CUT ON HER CHEEK

A customer who visited a Genki Sushi outlet at Bugis+ with her partner shared that when they were eating a plate of tuna salad sushi, they bit onto a sharp piece of plastic shard that was inside their food, resulting in a cut cheek.

According to a user on TikTok with the handle @theoriginalclaris, an incident occurred at a Bugis+ outlet last Thursday (25 May).

The OP recounted their experience of ordering tuna salad inari, a sushi wrapped in tofu skin and she was filming her partner tucking into the food when her partner’s facial expression changed upon biting into the dish.

They explained that their partner has had unfortunate encounters with fish bones in the past, so they initially wanted to film themselves eating as a joke.

However, to their dismay, the object their partner had bitten into turned out to be a sizable piece of hard plastic, causing a cut on their partner’s inner cheek.

The manager of the outlet acknowledged that the plastic shard originated from the tofu skin packaging. It was suggested that the staff responsible for preparing the inari sushi may have neglected to remove the packaging adequately due to the high volume of orders.

The OP expressed dissatisfaction with the staff’s response, perceiving a lack of concern on their part. The manager reportedly stated that they could only replace the sushi item in response to the incident.

The couple’s appetite was affected, leading them to leave the establishment promptly.

Genki Sushi, the sushi chain involved, issued an apology and offered a 10% discount on the couple’s bill. However, the OP emphasized that their primary concern was food safety standards rather than reimbursement.

The user stated that Genki Sushi contacted them to inform them that they were investigating the incident and would provide further updates.

The sushi chain also left a comment on the video, expressing sincere apologies and assuring customers that food safety and quality have always been their top priority.

ELDERLY COUPLE KENA 3 BURGLARIES IN JUST 3 WEEKS, LOST $7.6K & DON’T FEEL SAFE AT HOME

0

According to a report by The Star, it was revealed that a couple residing in Taman Ria Bercham, Ipoh, experienced a series of unfortunate break-ins within a three-week period. Chan Liew Chan, 71 years old, and her husband, Tou Kum Hin, 80 years old, fell victim to these burglaries.

First burglary

The first incident occurred on 2 May when the robbers successfully infiltrated their home and managed to escape with valuables such as jewellery and money. The elderly couple discovered the ransacking of their house the following morning, leaving them in shock.

Second burglary

The second break-in took place on 11 May, and the couple strongly believed it was carried out by the same group responsible for the initial burglary. This time, the burglars became more audacious, removing the sliding front door and thoroughly searching the entire residence.

Frightened by the noise created by the robbers, Chan and Tou, who were in their ground-floor room, opted not to confront them. They remained terrified throughout the ordeal. Despite their fear, Chan confronted the intruders when they attempted to break into their room. Her pounding on the door and vocal objections frightened them away, but not before they took a pair of binoculars and RM1,000 (equivalent to S$290).

Third burglary

Tragically, the situation worsened for the couple. On 24 May, the burglars returned, displaying even more audacity. They forcefully kicked open the bedroom door, revealing their masked faces and brandishing weapons. One assailant held a knife to Chan while the other continued to ransack the house. During the confrontation, Chan was pushed to the ground, resulting in a fractured knee. This time, they lost personal documents, including identity cards and credit cards, as well as mobile phones, a car key, a laptop, handbags, and a shaver. The total value of the stolen items from all three robberies amounted to approximately RM26,000 (around S$7,600).

Hope for increased police patrols

A press conference was organized at the couple’s residence on Saturday, 27 May, where Madam Chan expressed her hope for increased police patrols in the area. She also highlighted the impact these incidents had on her sleep, stating that even the slightest sound startled her awake.

In response, Mr. Low Guo Nan, Perak MCA public service and complaints bureau chief, advised residents not to solely rely on the police for neighborhood safety. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged residents to ensure their homes are equipped with adequate security measures.

GIRL THINKS IF BF NEVER SAY “MISS YOU” MEANS NO LOVE

0

Im dating this guy for close to a year, he rarely initiate saying that he loves or misses me.

In fact he almost never says it, even though I did tell him before that I would appreciate if he could say it more often. He says its just not in him to do so.

It also seems that he isn’t going to let us progress to the next stage.

I enjoy spending time with him as it’s always fun, but I can’t help but realize there may not be any future in this. It feels like he sees this as a “Just for fun” kind of thing.

How do I initiate a conversation with him about progressing further or meeting my emotional needs without sounding demanding or needy?

I also have thoughts of whether I should move on, and perhaps have the opportunity to meet someone who are more generous with their words and willing to put in the effort to speak the same love language.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Easy. Just ask him the 3 most dreaded words: What are we?
  • If he’s evasive or can’t explain himself, you’ll have the answer. Move on.
  • You sound like you’re his fwb. If you want more, just move on. The right one will be interested in meeting your needs. The wrong one will waste your time and send you mixed signals and leave you confused. Your gut instinct is telling you what it is. Don’t ignore it.
  • What’s wrong with being friends for a while before talking about marriage etc? I was friends with my wife for more than 6 years before we eventually tied the knot. This year is our 23rd wedding anniversary, so you can guess how long we have known each other.

F&B STAFF UPSET MANAGER NAGGED HIM FOR “MESSY KITCHEN”, PUNCHED & KNOCKED OUT HIS TOOTH

0

47-year-old Zhao Chuanfei, a cook at a mala hotpot stall in Whampoa, pleaded guilty on 25 May to one charge of criminal intimidation and another charge of voluntarily causing hurt and was sentenced to nine months in jail after physically assaulting his manager in a fit of rage, two other charges were considered during his sentencing.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident occurred when the manager repeatedly complained about the messy state of the kitchen.

The cook, Zhao Chuanfei, 47, was employed at a coffee shop located at Block 87 Whampoa Road. On March 3, 2023, around 3:50 pm, the 36-year-old manager entered the stall’s kitchen to check on Zhao’s progress. Upon observing the disorganized plates and ingredients, the manager requested Zhao to tidy up.

In response, Zhao dismissed the manager’s request, claiming he had his own way of working. The situation escalated as the manager insisted that each workplace had different standards and suggested that Zhao could resign if he disagreed with his instructions.

Picked up a chopper

Enraged by the manager’s remarks, Zhao grabbed a chopping tool and brandished it while advancing towards him. However, he decided against using it and resorted to physically assaulting his manager instead. Zhao repeatedly struck the manager’s face and body with his fists, causing a chipped tooth and contusions.

Subsequently, Zhao dragged the manager to a secluded area while still holding the chopper. He resumed his physical assault, delivering punches to the manager’s head and body. At one point, he held the chopper against the manager’s bicep, issuing a threat to kill him if the manager persisted in pressuring him.

The manager managed to escape and promptly notified the police. He was then diagnosed by doctors to have suffered facial and bodily contusions, as well as a chipped tooth.

Told the court he earned $40 a day

During his mitigation, Zhao stated that he had come to Singapore to earn money to support his cancer-stricken 70-year-old mother and his children. He claimed that the manager frequently scolded him due to the poor business at the stall and alleged that the manager aimed to earn a referral fee by hiring a replacement cook.

He also said that he was paid $40 a day and that the manager allegedly wanted to introduce a new cook to take over his job so as to earn a $400 referral fee.

Expressing his desire for a lenient sentence, Zhao emphasized his responsibilities as a single parent caring for his children and expressed his eagerness to return home as soon as possible.

The manager spoke to SMDN and refuted Zhao’s accusations. He described Zhao as consistently problematic and prone to anger. The manager expressed regret for not terminating Zhao’s employment earlier and promised to exercise more caution when hiring future staff.

WOMAN KENA CHASE BY SUPERMARKET STAFF & ARRESTED AFTER STEALING FROM 2 SUPERMARKETS

0

A 26-year-old woman was arrested by the police after attempting to flee from the staff at Tampines U Stars supermarket when she was caught not paying for bottles of alcohol. In addition, she was found in possession of other food items, which she allegedly shoplifted from a nearby Giant supermarket.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman is accused of committing these crimes on the morning of May 27 along Tampines Street 81.

Behaving suspiciously

The incident unfolded when a staff member at U Stars supermarket, identified as Wu, noticed the woman behaving suspiciously as soon as she entered the store. He observed her inquiring about the location of eggs and subsequently picking up multiple food items and two bottles of Korean plum wine.

When the woman approached the cashier to pay for some of the food items, Wu noticed that she did not present the two bottles of Korean plum wine from her tote bag for payment. After she left the supermarket, Wu consulted his colleague and confirmed that she had not paid for the wine.

Chased after her

Upon realizing this, the supermarket staff gave chase to the woman, repeatedly instructing her to stop. However, she continued to flee despite their warnings. Eventually, Wu and his colleagues managed to apprehend her, and they promptly contacted the police. While waiting for the authorities to arrive, the woman resisted and attempted to escape but was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody by two police officers.

Meanwhile, an employee from the nearby Giant supermarket, Wang, stated that the police had informed them of their suspicions that the woman had also stolen items from their store. The alleged stolen items included two packets of frozen chicken, two packets of minced pork, and two cans of sausages, with a total estimated value of around S$28.

The police have confirmed the arrest of the 26-year-old woman, and investigations are currently underway.

Not the first time

Wang further claimed that this was not the woman’s first instance of theft from the same Giant outlet. He revealed that the supermarket had captured her on CCTV shoplifting before. On two separate occasions, she was seen stealing two packets of frozen fish and two canned food items.

Wu recalled an incident from two years ago when the woman caused a disturbance after breaking some glass. She claimed to have sustained injuries from the shattered glass and threatened to take legal action against the supermarket.

Wu mentioned that his suspicions were initially raised when he noticed missing bottles of alcohol during stocktaking.

Subsequently, the staff began to notice missing items whenever the woman visited, but they never had the opportunity to catch her in the act as she always chose times when there were fewer staff members around at the time.

FRIEND NO CONTACT FOR YEARS, SUDDENLY CALLS AND ASK ME TO BE HIS BEST MAN

0

Am I actually best friends with this guy and should I be his best man?

So I must clarify that I’m not great at social things. I’m very likely on the autism spectrum and I don’t have many people to discuss this with because I keep to myself a lot.

There was this WhatsApp chat group with my class a few years back and we have since graduated from secondary school, and that it’s died since then. But three years ago, I get a notification from it. For reasons of his own, M, a classmate I was never really close to, messaged the chat. Apparently he had no where to live for the night and was just asking every chat he had for help.

I asked my parents if we could go get him since we have a guest room, and they agreed. So I called M and said I’m coming with my parents. He gave us his location and we picked him up.

Long story short, he was kicked out of his house and didn’t have anything except what he brought out. So anyway, my parents discussed and for the next few months, M stayed with us. We managed to get things for him.

He’s also a nice guy and helped us too, but he and I don’t really share interests. So when we talk, I just answer questions and tell him what I do. Then he shares his day.

He managed to get onto his feet and stuff and a few years later he managed to move out and eventually found someone. I’m quite happy for him. Although we didn’t talk much but sometimes he still comes over for dinner, or asks me out to chill.

I know he’s quite grateful for my family helping him in his time of need.

He’s getting married soon and has asked me to be his best man. I’m not sure if I should say yes because I see how he interacts with other friends, and how he interacts with me is different. I don’t have that bond with him that he has with others so I’m not sure if he asks me because he feels obligated to from my family helping him out years ago. Or he genuinely thinks I’m his best friend?

I did ask him, he just laughed and said that whatever I decide he’s okay with it. But that’s not really an answer.

Um… so I don’t know. Should I say yes or no? And I’m also not sure if I’m his best friend or not cause he also didn’t say yes or no.

Sorry about the style I know I write like a piece of wood.
