RAGING FIRE @ FERNVALE RD HDB, 3 PEOPLE RESCUED – FIRE LIKELY TO START FROM PMD BATTERY

0

A fire broke out earlier today (18 May) at about 6.20am at the 4th floor unit of Block 443C Fernvale Road, with the fire involving the contents of the living room,

Firefighters found three persons in separate bedrooms inside the burning unit while putting out the fire and rescued the occupants, and they were then sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

About 50 people had evacuated from the neighbouring unit(s) before the arrival of the SCDF, and another 3 more people from a neighbouring unit were evacuated by the police and SCDF.

The fire had likely originated from the battery pack of a Personal Mobility Device (PMD) that was charging in the living room.

The three persons were conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation. Another three persons from a neighbouring unit were also evacuated by the Police and SCDF as a precautionary measure.

GRAB DRIVER CLAIM “APP GLITCH” & ASK PAX TO CANCEL, MAKING HER PAY CANCELLATION FEE

0

Facebook user 벨라김 said that she had booked a Grab ride and while waiting for the vehicle, the Grab driver allegedly messaged her and said that he was having an “app glitch” before asking her to cancel the booking.

She then told him that if she cancel, she would need to pay the cancellation fee; to which the driver then told her “if’s okay if you don’t want to cancel, if I cancel you will have to pay, your choice”.

After a while, the driver said “ok never mind I will cancel,” but after a while 벨라김 noticed that the driver hadn’t done so and was still moving towards the pickup.

She then messaged him and called him a scammer for not cancelling.

Here is what she said

just posting here for future reference!

Do not cancel if the driver claim app glitch, especially when you’ll be charge cancellation fee for cancelling.

I am not sure if the cancellation fee will be given to the driver or will be paid to GRAB but either way, driver shouldn’t have ask me to cancel and insisted that I will have to pay if he cancel instead, if he himself is not sure how it works.

Cutting it short, driver claimed app glitch and ask me to cancel, I did try to cancel and it showed that I’ll have to pay $4 for cancellation fee.

I then replied as shown in picture and driver insisted that I’ll have to pay if he cancel.
He then proceeded to say he’ll cancel which he didnt, until the app showed that he has arrived.

I seriously have no idea what he was playing at, maybe trying his luck to charge without taking the ride, cant say for sure, but its a pretty annoying thing to deal with at 7 in the morning.

Once app shows driver “arrived”, the ride was then cancelled and I wasn’t charge!

So if you encounter this situation in the future, please do not proceed straight to cancel and end up paying the cancellation fee for a glitch that wasn’t your problem to start with.
Even if driver say you’ll need to pay if you dont cancel.

36 Y.O S’PORE DRUG TRAFFICKER EXECUTED BY HANGING, 2ND EXECUTION THIS YEAR

0

A 36-year-old Singaporean man, who was previously found guilty of trafficking 1.6kg of cannabis and sentenced to death.

He was executed yesterday (17 May) via hanging and becomes the second inmate on death row to be executed for drug offences this year, following the widespread coverage of Tangaraju S/O Suppiah’s death sentence.

He had filed an appeal against the death sentence by the High Court but it was dismissed in August 2019, before the Singapore Prison Service informed his family of his execution date on 10 May last Wednesday.

He then filed another appeal against the sentence hoping to reduce his sentence to life imprisonment, with his lawyer citing the discovery of more evidence and a change in the law.

However, it was also dismissed for “fail(ing) to raise sufficient material”.

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) issued a statement in response to queries from the media, saying that the person was accorded the full due process of the law and that his petition to the President for clemency was not successful.

INDONESIAN MAN ALLEGEDLY KILLED WIFE, CHOP HER UP & COOKED HER IN POT, TASTED THE SOUP

0

An Indonesian man from North Sumatra, Harapan Munthe, allegedly killed his wife and mutilated her body before cooking it in a pot of boiling water and tasting it.

He is currently on trial with the public prosecutor seeking a life sentence against him.

What happened?

According to the Tribun News Medan, Harapan was with his wife Nurmaya Situmorang and their 3-year-old adopted child at their home in North Sumatra on 11 November 2022.

His wife was cooking in the kitchen at the time while he was with their child inside a room, and his wife the brought the food into the room for them to eat.

During the meal, Harapan got reminded of his wife swearing at him with harsh words, and he then allegedly told up and wrapped his arms around her neck.

He then grabbed a knife that measured about 30cm while holding his wife, stabbing her on the right side of her neck as she fell onto the ground.

She then tried to stand up but Harapan kicked her, and she then stopped moving before he used a blanket to cover her body.

Their 3-year-old child had witnessed the murder, and Harapan tried to calm the child down, moving the child to another room.

After that at about 6.30pm, he returned and dragged his wife’s body into the living room, before going into the toilet to wash off the blood on his hands before cleaning up the blood trail on the floor using a mop.

He then dragged her body into the kitchen and stabbed his already-deceased wife with a knife twice in the chest to make sure that she was dead.

At about 7pm Harapan then decapitated his wife, cutting off her head and putting the severed head into a sack, before taking a blanket and a sarong to cover her body.

He then went into the room where his child was and fell asleep.

He later woke up at about 11pm and went into the kitchen, cutting off his already-decapitated wife’s right wrist, forearm and upper arm; before putting her right wrist into a pot, and washing it before cooking it by boiling.

Sometime after midnight, he continued cutting his wife’s body parts, before adding some salt into the pot that had his wife’s body in it, tasting the boiling water by taking a sip.

Harapan then took a nap, before waking up at about 5am, when he went back into the kitchen and heated up the pot with his wife’s body inside.

He then wrapped up her remains and put them inside a sack, taking it into a field that was about 50 metres away from his house and burning it.

Then at about 7.30pm, he encountered his nephew Hari Jumadi Munthe, and he told him that he had killed his wife, much to the latter’s horror.

The nephew then hurried home and told his father, Marnangko Munthe, about what he had learned, and the father then went to Harapan’s house and saw his brother burning a sack that had the deceased’s legs sticking out.

He confronted Harapan about it and the latter just nonchalantly told his brother that he had just killed his wife, and Marnangko then reported the incident to the police, who later arrived at his home and arrested him.

His wife’s mutilated body was then discovered by the police at different locations: the kitchen, the area behind Harapan’s house and the sack that he had stuffed his wife’s body parts in.

The police chief of Humbahas, Achmad Muhaimin, said that they found pieces of hands that had been boiled in a pot, and that the victim’s head, hands and feet were separated from the body.

PARENTS LOCKED CHILDREN INSIDE CAR WITH ENGINE TURNED OFF, AS THEY ATTEND EVENT

0

A Facebook user in Malaysia, Nana Nandos, shared how she chanced upon two children who were locked inside a car while their parents attended a Hari Raya event, with netizens online condemning the kids’ parents for neglecting them.

Nana said that she saw the twin girls locked inside the vehicle, with the car’s engine also being switched off while the windows were only opened a little bit, according to MustShareNews.

The girls were crying at the time and their cries drew the attention of the woman, who then went over to check out what was going on.

She found the two girls crying inside the locked car and said that she opened the car door to give them some packet drinks to calm them down, although she didn’t elaborate on how she managed to unlock the door.

Nana then waited with the girls for about 30 minutes for their parents to show up but they didn’t, and she then continued waiting for the parents who eventually came back and told her that they went to a Hari Raya event.

She also said that the parents did not seem to be remorseful or regret their actions at all after leaving their children inside the stuffy vehicle.

With a little over 14,000 shares on Facebook, netizens slammed the parents for their negligence and some also advised the woman to report the incident to the local police.

Leaving children inside locked cars

Leaving a child inside a locked car unattended is a dangerous and potentially deadly situation. Every year, countless children are left in cars by accident, which can lead to heatstroke, dehydration, suffocation, and even death.

Heatstroke

Heatstroke is a severe medical emergency that can occur when the body’s temperature rises above 40°C. Children are particularly vulnerable to heatstroke because their bodies heat up three to five times faster than adults.

When a child is left in a locked car on a hot day, the temperature inside the car can rise quickly, even if the windows are cracked. The temperature inside a car can rise by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes. This can quickly lead to heatstroke, which can cause brain damage, organ failure, and even death.

Dehydration

Dehydration occurs when the body loses too much water and electrolytes. When a child is left inside a locked car on a hot day, they may become dehydrated quickly, especially if they don’t have access to water.

Dehydration can cause headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and other symptoms. In severe cases, dehydration can lead to seizures, coma, and even death.
