7TH SUSPECT IN GRUESOME ABBY CHOI MURDER ARRESTED, EX-HUSBAND’S FRIEND

0

28-year-old Hong Kong model Abby Choi was previously reported to be found dead, with her dead body being dismembered and cooked, and her body parts stored inside a fridge.

Her ex-husband, former father-in-law, former mother-in-law and former brother-in-law were among 5 suspects identified and arrested; along with a 6th suspect who had allegedly tried to help Choi’s ex-husband flee Hong Kong.

The 7th suspect in the murder has since been arrested on 7 March, with the suspect with a woman who was allegedly a friend of the ex-husband, Alex Kwong, according to The Standard.

She was arrested in Mainland China for assisting Kwong, and will be handed over to the Hong Kong police for further investigations.

This comes in the wake of the 6th suspect being arrested on 2 March.

A 6th suspect, 41-year-old Mr Lam, an employee of a yacht rental company, has since been arrested in relation to the gruesome murder, according to HK01.

Lam had allegedly tried to help Choi’s ex-husband flee Hong Kong after the murder.

Lam, the former assistant of HK singer and actor Ronald Cheng, was arrested on 2 March in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

He had allegedly tried to help Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong, flee the country for HK$100,000 (or SGD$17,000).

He was arrested at the Tung Chung pier on Lantau Island with HK$500,000 (SGD$85,000) in cash as well as several luxury watches worth about HK$4 million (SGD$690,000) in his possession.

Search for Choi’s missing torso and arms

The Hong Kong police started search operations for Choi’s remaining missing body parts on 28 February after her remains were identified by her family.

They reportedly had to look through 4,000 tonnes of rubbish at a landfill, looking for the body parts that were inside 2 to 3 rubbish bags.

The three-day search came to an end on 2 March with no fruition, the police couldn’t locate her missing body parts and failed to find any new evidence.

The police also added that they are still trying to determine Choi’s exact time of death, and said that she was allegedly attacked while inside the car that her former brother-in-law was driving, before being taken into the house where she was murdered, unconscious.

They added that the suspects are not cooperating, making their investigations difficult; but they do belive that Choi’s former father-in-law is the mastermind behind the murder.

Recap

28-year-old Hong Kong model Abby Choi was found dead, with her body dismembered and cooked, according to media reports coming out of Hong Kong on 24 February.

The disturbingly gruesome murder was reportedly related to a financial dispute over HK$100 million (or SGD$17.2 million).

Choi’s ex-husband is currently wanted by the police and is at large, but his parents and brother have since been arrested by the police.

9 News reported that the Hong Kong police broke into a village house in the afternoon of 24 February, in the Tai Po suburb, which Choi’s former father-in-law reportedly rented.

Inside, the police found Choi’s dismembered legs, which were cooked, and stored inside a refrigerator, with the police also finding a meat grinder, an electric saw, and soup pots with human tissue inside.

A white 7-seater vehicle was also towed away by the police from the scene later that night.

At the time of writing, Choi’s head, torso and hands have also not been found yet.

HK01 reported that the model was last seen on 21 February wearing a white outfit on 21 February at about 2.15pm, and SCMP reported that her former brother-in-law had picked her up from her home.

He was also supposed to pick up Choi’s daughter, but Choi didn’t pick up her child and was later reported to be missing.

Police superintendent Alan Chung spoke to the media on 25 February saying that the murder was well-planned and premeditated.

He said that the property where her body was found, was carefully prepared for the purpose of cutting up a body, with nothing inside the apartment but a table and a couch, with the walls also being covered.

Choi had been providing financial support to her ex-husband and his family, and was allegedly being extorted by some of her ex-husband’s relatives.

Choi’s former brother-in-law and parents-in-law also made false and misleading statements to the police, with Chung saying that they created “plenty of lies and smokescreens to mislead us”.

They have all been arrested.

Missing head found

Choi’s decapitated head was finally found inside a big pot of soup, along with some of her missing ribs.

According to South China Morning Post, the discovery was made on 26 February, about 2 days after the rest of her body was found.

The authorities seized two large pots of soup on 24 February from a house in Tai Po Village, the same house where Choi’s severed legs were found.

The contents of the soup inside the pot had to be sent to a mortuary to be examined on 25 February and were filled to the brim with minced meat believed to be human tissue and soup, according to HK01.

Choi’s head was also found inside the pot of soup during examination by forensic experts, and it was almost intact – but it appears as if someone tried to smash it.

Her ribs were also found and are currently being stored with her head at the mortuary, and the police are still looking for her other missing body parts, including her torso and her hands.

The deceased’s 65-year-old former father-in-law and 31-year-old former brother-in-law have since been charged with murder, while her 63-year-old former mother-in-law has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

They were arrested on Friday (24 February) when Choi’s body parts were found and will be brought to court today (27 February).

Choi’s ex-husband, 28-year-old Alex Kwong Kong-chi, was also arrested on Saturday (25 February) at the Tung Chung waterfront, allegedly waiting for a speedboat to flee the city.

He is currently still being held by the police for questioning, with Choi’s two children under the care of her mother.

MAN MARRIES RICH GIRL AFTER HIS RESTAURANT BUSINESS AT BOAT QUAY FAILS

My dream of being a successful entrepreneur came crashing down two years ago when my restaurant business at Boat Quay failed.

The worst part was that I had invested all my savings in the venture, and when it went bust, I was left with nothing.

I was in my late twenties and had no job, no money, and no prospects. I was completely lost and had no idea what to do with my life. I was completely devastated and felt like my life was over.

But I was determined to make something of my life, and I was not about to give up. I started looking for jobs, but no one wanted to hire me as I had no experience. I had no choice but to take up odd jobs here and there to make ends meet.

It was during this time that I met a beautiful girl, who happened to be from a wealthy family. We hit it off right away and soon, we were in a relationship.

To my surprise, her family accepted me despite my financial situation.

I was happy and I felt like I had finally found a place to belong.

But then, her parents started to put pressure on us to get married. I was hesitant at first as I was not in a financial position to take care of a family. But, her parents promised to take care of all our needs and even promised to help me set up a business again.

The idea of having a financial cushion was too tempting to resist, so I proposed to her, and she accepted. We got married a few months later.

With the help of her family, I was able to start a new business and I was finally able to pay off all my debts and start to put some money away for our future.

My life had completely changed in the span of a few months, and I was able to achieve my dream of being a successful entrepreneur.

Looking back, I realize that marrying a rich girl was the best decision I ever made. It not only gave me financial security but also gave me the courage to pursue my dreams and make something of my life.

If it wasn’t for my wife, I would never have been able to achieve what I have today. Marrying a rich girl was the best decision I ever made and I am thankful to her and her family for helping me get back on my feet.

FT YOGA INSTRUCTOR ALLEGEDLY MOLESTED 5 WOMEN @ TELOK AYER YOGA STUDIO

0

A 33-year-old Indian national, Rajpal Singh, is claiming trial to 8 charges of molestation involving 4 alleged victims, with two other charges linked to a fifth woman set to be dealt with at a later date.

The court heard on the first day of his trial on 7 March, that Singh was working as a yoga instructor at Trust Yoga on 1 April 2019.

The first alleged victim was a 24-year-old woman who was allegedly molested by him on 11 July 2020, and she then WhatsApped a friend about what happened after her yoga class.

The victim also spoke to a certain Arvind Ganaraj, who was working at Trust Yoga at the time as a sales assistant manager, and they communicated with each other via text the following day.

The alleged victim also shared her experience on 31 July 2020, posting about it on Twitter, with two other women aged 28 and 37 reaching out to her about having experienced the same thing.

The 28-year-old also posted about what happened to her on Facebook.

A fourth alleged victim aged 23-24, saw an online review on Trust Yoga around 25 August 2020 and reached out to a person identified in court documents as “B2” on Facebook, sharing about her experience.

B2 then referred the 4th victim to the 1st victim, and the two of them then shared their experience on Instagram.

One of the alleged victims testified via camera on 7 March.

Singh’s trial resumes today, and he has 2 other molestation charges relating to a fifth alleged victim, which will be dealt with at a later date.

MAN WORRY ABOUT HDB, BUY HDB WITH MOTHER BUT SCARE NEXT TIME GET MARRIED

0

Hi yalls, 24M here, will graduate uni next year. TLDR, I wanna know what y’all think of someone getting a BTO/resale flat with his single mother. Reasons: we do not own a flat, and we currently live in a 1-bedroom rental flat.

I do plan to get married in the future, but I’m not currently dating, and at the rate that I’m going I’m probably going to be single for a while, ‘cos I’m just constantly doing internships and studying so I don’t actively meet anyone.

So, my parents divorced when I was 1yo, and never really had much contact with my father. Due to certain reasons, my mom lost the matrimonial home and we’ve been staying in a rental, 1-bedroom HDB for a few years now. (I have an elder sister but she has married out so she’s kinda out of the picture)

I have thought of renting a place when I graduate but I don’t feel good about spending close to 1000 a month on rent, but yet I can’t seem to be satisfied with sleeping in the living room for the next few years. And hence I’ve thought about this. (My earning potential is around 5k-6k/mth as a fresh grad, and hence the downpayment amt isn’t really a concern as long as I have 1 or 2 years.)

But then this does still raise a few concerns, right? For the ladies, would you be okay with settling down with someone like me, knowing well that you won’t be able to do the conventional BTO, or maybe even the fact that you might have to live with your mother-in-law? If anyone else had been in a similar situation, would appreciate it if you could share ur pov! Thanks.

Her are what netizens think:

  • if she is eligible, register only herself as the owner and you as the occupier. Dont “waste” the first timer status by being an co-owner. However it would mean you cannot use your CPF to help pay for the flat. in any case, when you do get married, you get yourself out of the ownership and loan repayment for your own place. and, one mountain cannot house 2 tigers. also, when 2 elephants fight, the grass suffers.
  • 1) Your earning potential is not 5-6K as a grad. You need to reduce this figure to 3-5K, it’s modest.
    2) No one wants to live with their in-laws if they have a choice. Even if they get along well, it’s just not comfortable to be all under one roof.
    3) When you do find the one, you both can still get a flat cos you have two chances to buy HDB, or your mum can buy a flat and list you as an occupier and you help pay the mortgage. Then it doesn’t mess up the number of times you can buy and also first time buyer has many advantages and discounts, don’t waste it on co-signing with your mum. Just let her buy the flat, put under her name and you help to pay.
  • Suppose you buy a 3room bto, you are looking at 250k. The downpayment is 25k, subtracted from your cpf. Grant would put you around 50k. You need to pay the remaining out of cpf. Without sufficient cpf, you borrow the whole amount, you are looking at 175k. That is $795 for 25years. Meaning you won’t have sufficient retirement fund. Work for a few more years first. Reduce that loan amount.

MAN GAVE 26 YRS OF HIS LIFE TO COMPANY, LOST HIS JOB WITHIN 45 SECS WHEN CEO CHANGED

0

worked my way up from entry-level to upper management over the past 26+ years. I read the posts here, but I thought my situation was different. I thought I was different. I was running multiple projects and supervised several clinical departments effectively (at least that’s what I thought).

We had a new CEO come in about a year ago and I was the only member of the admin team that he didn’t pick himself, yet I still thought my situation was different and I was safe.

Today, in a mere 45 seconds, he told me I wasn’t working out and he was making a change to the leadership team. After 26 years, my career ended in 45 seconds.

So I sit here tonight admitting that I was stupid and naïve. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. If you think it won’t happen to you, don’t be too sure.

Guy in mid-50’s looking for a job… It happened a couple hours ago and I feel completely numb. I have chills. Not sure what to do or where to turn.

Sorry to be a downer but I’m alone and needed to vent to someone. Thanks for listening. I’m going to bed.

Netizens’ comments

  1. With that amount of experience in a single location, there will be things you know about operations that the rest of your team may not. In the event they call or email you asking for assistance, do not help without being compensated. You owe them no favors and they can pay you for your efforts should this happen to you.
  2. CEOs are routinely utter shit. I mean, zero-empathy but also clueless. They see their job as being willing to go in and make big unpopular decisions — and they get paid by people (investors, usually) who also see that as their job.
Are those decisions good? Often, no, they’re stupid and terrible. But they’re supposed to make big changes! Even if it doesn’t pay off! Eggs and omelets, and so on.
New CEOs are the worst. I worked for a big company, and we got a new one, and he immediately announced there’d be a big round of layoffs to pump up the stock. Right, because he made money from the stock going up, not from the company doing well.
  3. For tonight, have some comfort food, maybe a beer, watch a favorite show/movie, take a long hot shower, turn off phone & alarms, and sleep in tomorrow.
Tomorrow [some suggest taking a long weekend of rest, then start this next Monday], freshen your resume & interview skills.
Have a relaxing lunch at a favorite restaurant.
Contact old co-workers to be references.
Take stock of your financial position.
Over the weekend, relax & putter. Catch up on reading, hobbies. Just take a break.
Return to thinking about a job next Monday. Look on job listing sites. Ask friends if they have heard about something you might be good with.

GRAB RIDER SMASHES INTO CAR & DAMAGED VEHICLE SAYS NO MONEY TO COMPENSATE

Hi Sg uncensored,

I have a Story to share: My Car was hit by a Grab delivery PAB rider.

Brief description of the accident:

On 05/03/2023 at 1445hrs at Gambas Ave, a Grab delivery PAB rider rear ended (left hand side) of my car at the traffic light (green) junction as the car in front of me braked, I managed to stop in time to avoid hitting the car in front of me. However, the Grab rider did not manage to stop in time and hit my car.

My car suffered cracks, dents and scratches as he pulls out his PAB from underneath my car. The rider is very hostile, rude and ill-mannered while exchanging for contacts, I felt threatened by him as he said he can look for me any time since he has my address in an intimidating tone. No injuries to both of us.

Police report has been made.

POLICE REPORT T/20230305/7022

He said that he had no money nor insurance coverage to pay for the costs of the damages.

I hope this article can reach out to Grab for their awareness that their system is flawed as their delivery riders are not covered with insurance to protect themselves in the event of any personal injury or property damage caused to someone else while on a GrabFood, GrabMart or GrabExpress delivery.

I also want to request Grab to be responsible for the car repair costs incurred by their delivery rider.

Attached are the video footage and photos of the accident. Hope you can raise public’s awareness by publishing my story. Thank you.

Thank you

Regards

MANAGER DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO HIS WORK, PUSH ALL TO STAFF & WAYANG IN FRONT OF BOSS

0

Just sent resignation: any advice?

I had been contemplating to resign for about 5 months now. My manager is a shitshow who doesn’t know how to do half his work and push all work to us and tries to keep a good front towards the higher ups by insisting the department is managing fine despite the low staff count (one on HL, one is going through rough health issue as well, left with 3 of us handling everything).

The company restructured recently and we had to take on even more work. I had to work Saturdays and Sundays to complete my work as well.

I decided enough is enough and scheduled my resignation to be sent to my manager, the HR manager and BCC my personal email.

My manager is known as a longwinded person and likes to get his way. How should I go about it if he tries to insists I stay? And how to handle if he purposely makes my life hell during notice?

Thanks.

Edit: Actually this is my first full time job in the industry I studied in. That is why I am afraid/nervous of how it would go tomorrow and not sure what to expect. As this is the first time I’m ‘throwing letter’, I don’t know how I should be handling whatever comes next.

Netizens’ comments

  1. He cannot force you to stay period. If he makes your life hell just act blur lor. While serving your notice, inform everyone on your team you will document what is needed to help whoever is taking over your portfolio.
Spend the rest of the notice doing that and a few days before you are going to leave, email everyone in the team with the documents before you go. Even you bueh song, you at least look professional when leaving
  2. One word of advise. Never rescind your resignation, even if they do give a better offer or promise.

The thing about accepting counter offer is that your management know u will leave so they starts hiring for a replacement while you’re here to hold the fort and train/handover the new guy who supposedly hired to assist you.

Also, the reason that caused your resignation won’t be fixed or there will be a new reason that appear. You are just delaying ur resignation. Unless u aim to get a pay increment and then resign for more money. Haha.

So ya. Once u resign, just stay w the decision.

MAN SAYS SOCIAL MEDIA IS RUINING HIS GF, COMPARE & COMPETE BRANDED BAGS ON INSTA

0

Social media is ruining my gf’s self-esteem. How to ease her insecurity?

I’m with my gf for 2 years. We don’t have any major issues other than the fact that she allows herself to be affected by what others post.

Like people who post ig pics that they went to fancy restaurants and expensive holidays, indulging in branded bags and wearing luxury items. Posting as though they are living a fantastic life.

I mean, I don’t really care as I think most of these are superficial and fake and also attention seeking.

My gf on the other hand, will feel jealous and sulk when she mentions so and so just went to where and where. Like we are planning to see cherry blossoms this year. She is ok with that but asked if we can visit somewhere further year end. I know she has friends who can go on multiple trips in a year. But we only budget for one trip this year. I’m not saying year end I won’t be planning anything but its likely we will not travel out for December.

She also told me her friends rents branded clothes and bags and asks me to sponsor her as a bday gift as she wants to try. I don’t see the point. Its money spent but end of the day you own nothing.

Only memories of the things worn if you had photos taken? I would rather we have a nice dinner and watch a concert.

She’s starting to act like I should be more supportive of her wanting to match up to her materialistic friends which I don’t think there is a need to. Both of us are earning a decent wage for our age but I think we are more on the thrifty kind of lifestyle. She does own a few nice and fancy items which I find it ok to treat ourselves once in a while. I just don’t see the need to rent branded items and clothes.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Spending money you do not have to impress people who don’t care . Classic
  • She’s digging your gold lil bro
  • If she is unable to change her pov… You can change gf already. But if she says all these in jest and manja2 type, can give chance… But you shouldn’t indulge her in more than you yourself can afford.Perhaps tell her to stop being addicted to social media and read a book or something.

PROPERTY AGENT NOT SHOWING UP FOR APPOINTMENTS, POST PHOTOS OF DIFF UNIT ON AD

0

Property Agents are amongst the worst of people! – change my mind

I am looking for an apartment right now…

  • No shows to viewing appointments
  • Ignoring my messages
  • Misleading images from different units on ads
  • Having ad open for already taken units just to push other units on you
  • Asking for outrages commission(because they co broke) and calling it market rate
  • Trying to price gouge by pretending they have an offer and saying you have to over bid
  • … and all of this while arriving at the viewing (if they come) in a Porsche, with Prada bag and D&G shoes

Netizens’ comments

  1. Well i knew a guy from primary school who had the most innocuous looking face but was…
..a massive fking liar and a thief (stole from me, confronted him, act blur and his mother even defended him)
    He became a property agent.
  2. Property agents really are generally quite scummy. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with them. They downright lie to close a sale and yet can often be heard telling parties (usually during heated exchanges) that the commission means nothing to them. What braggarts. If it really means nothing to you then don’t lie so much or use your pressure tactics to close.
They really need to be better regulated.
  3. Was from a certain unit in NS and now lots of people i know in there are prop agents. Often seeing fb / insta posts -> Sold Unit 20,000 above market price!, etc. etc. Always wondered how the buyer would feel when the buyer sees these posts lol
  4. I have met outright cheating agent (took deposit from multiple people) and when we went to police station to open case, police informed us that guy was already in jail for cheating. Borderline cheating one and another irresponsible one. So I am saying, you are not wrong to take it that way.

But I think I am lucky enough to meet with a few good property agents, particularly the one connected by one of my buddy. He became ‘exclusive’ property agent for my whole family. He transacted 5 properties within our circle. This is our experience.

  • picks me up and drives me around for viewing appointment
  • reply message within a couple of hours, usually within an hour
  • informed the unit on ads and photo are not correct/sold/tenanted
  • when we give them the ads list, went through and get back with unsold list
  • also came back with appointment list
  • Commission fees is standard rate and informed me at the beginning
  • Always negotiate for me and try to get lowest price
  • also show me the past/current/estimate price of the property we viewed
  • When I was in very tight situation, he offered me to pay his commission two months later.
