CHOW YUN FAT 67-YEARS-OLD ALREADY, BUT STILL CAN COMPLETE 10KM RUN IN 1 HOUR

0

67-year-old Hong Kong veteran actor Chow Yun Fat, took part in the Standard Chartered HK Marathon on 12 February, clocking in an impressive 1 hour, 3 minutes and 58 seconds for the 10km race.

Hong Kong news outlet HK01 reported that Chow ran an average of 6 minutes and 24 seconds per kilometre, meanwhile some of our younger, able-bodied NSFs are clocking in 15 minutes for their 2.4km IPPT run.

What makes Chow Yun Fat’s timing so impressive is the fact that he is 67 years old, and his fellow competitors were much younger than him at the race.

The Straits Times reported that Chow had trained for the race for more than a year and even hired a coach to help him prepare for the run.

Chow said that his coach advised him not to run too fast because there was a slope ahead; he jogged slowly at the start to conserve his energy and sped up towards the end of the race.

The humble legend of Hong Kong cinema was later approached by fans and other runners for selfies after finishing the race.

Other celebrities who took part in the race include TVB actress Sisley Choi, actor Dickson Yu, and model Inez Leong.

Netizens’ comments

  1. When i grow up, i wanna be like him.
  2. My 2.4km is already 30 mins. How to complete 10km in 1 hr like him? Jialat
  3. Omg he clock the same timing as I am but I am 42, that timing for his age is very impressive
  4. Those old fellas who love to tell ppl running give us bad knees, bad this n that , are likely those never excercise a day in their life or at least did not TRAIN with qualified coaches which resulted them having injuries.
Those into their 50s can be as fast , as strong as our younger counterparts in their 30s or 40s , but all these come with a price…living a healthy lifestyle , discipline and consistent training to be able to go the extra distance.
I can outdo my 21 old athlete son in a 1 minute pushups , 41reps vs 50reps for a 58yo , though must admit I do not have his explosive power .
All the athletism, mobility and flexibility adaptations can still be achieved even past 55yo…but do not expect to see result in a few months though some kinda of improvements do occur given the work put in.

MAN LOOKS FORWARD TO RESERVIST BECAUSE 2 WEEKS DON’T NEED CARE ABOUT ANYTHING

0

I look forward to my two-week reservist training every year.

Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that, for two weeks, I can put aside the stresses of everyday life and focus solely on my military obligations.

Can go back and slack

I enjoy the break from the routine of my daily life. I can forget about my job, my family, and all the other commitments that usually fill my days.

Instead, I use the two weeks to basically just rot and go with the flow of the program that are planned for us and just care about nothing other than what to eat from the canteen and where to go with my buddies during nights out.

Good catch up with friends whom I spent two years with

I also look forward to the camaraderie of the reservist training. It’s a great time to be able to catch up with friends and buddies who I may not have seen in a while.

We get to share stories and experiences and get to know each other better. It’s great to be able to come together and share our military experiences, and it’s a great way to strengthen our bond and our commitment to the military.

It also helps me to build connections and find opportunities with people from different walks of life who may have something to offer me in real life.

Some training might be tough, but its still worth going for

Many people would say that reservist is very useless as it disrupts our normal lives and sometimes when the training gets tough, they would complain and say that they are not NSFs anymore and there is no need to go through with such tough training.

While I agree with them to a certain extent, I would rather go through all these at times because it is just a follow through motion activity and once we’re done with it means we’re done.

It is really a chill two weeks for me, to get away from all the nonsense outside.

POLICE NSF TRESPASSED INTO WOMEN’S TOILET, SAID HE WENT IN BECAUSE GOT “SPIRIT”

0

A full-time Singapore Police Force national serviceman, 26-year-old Jonathan Chua Wei Cong, entered a female toilet at a police unit while a 30-year-old policewoman was showing inside a cubicle, according to The Straits Times.

Chua, who has since completed his national service, placed his mobile phone on top of the cubicle door where the policewoman was showering.

The 26-year-old said in his defence that he was being followed by a spirit, and said that he entered the female toilet under the spell of the spirit.

He added that he couldn’t remember the details of the incident because his mind was “blank” at the time.

He was convicted of his offences, including criminal trespass and insulting a woman’s modesty, and his sentencing is set for 22 March.

What happened?

Chua and two other male coursemates had ended their lessons at the unit on 12 March 2019, at about 4.30pm, and they made their way to a male toilet after passing by a female toilet.

The two coursemates said that they left the male toilet first and Chua then caught up with them a few minutes later, he was alone during this the 30 seconds to 3 minutes his coursemates left him.

The victim said that she was showering at about 4.45pm, and about 10 minutes later she heard the main toilet door open.

She then turned to face the cubicle door about 5 to 10 seconds later and saw a mobile phone from the top right-hand side of the door, facing upwards.

She froze before shouting “OI” and saw the phone moving downwards and disappearing from her sight, and she then heard the main toilet door open and close.

She then dried herself and got dressed in less than 5 minutes before leaving the cubicle, and didn’t see the trespasser as the person had already fled.

She then reported the incident to her superiors and described the phone that she saw, before reporting the incident via a police report.

Testifying in court, the victim said that she felt humiliated, before breaking down and crying when she was asked to recall how she felt at the time.

LOW EQ GUY TELLS CEO’S UNDERCOVER SPY THAT HE DOESN’T LIKE THE JOB

0

I had just started my new job with the company and, so far, it had been a rather disappointing experience. I had such high hopes for this job when I applied, but things were not turning out the way I had expected.

The job was supposed to be a great opportunity to hone my skills and gain valuable experience, yet I felt like I was stuck in a dead-end job with no real prospects for growth.

No career progression, tasks are all mundane

The tasks I was assigned were mundane and repetitive and my boss showed no interest in giving me any feedback or helping me develop.

To make matters worse, I had recently discovered that the company’s CEO was sending a spy to the office to assess employee morale.

It was clear to me that this was an attempt to gain insight into how the employees felt about their jobs and if anyone was unhappy.

Told the spy that I was unhappy with the CEO

This was my chance to finally make my feelings heard and I decided to take it. I waited until the spy was making his rounds and then I approached him.

I told him that I was unhappy with the job and that I was not getting the support or opportunity for growth that I had expected.

At first, I thought the spy was going to be sympathetic to my plight. However, his expression quickly changed when I mentioned the CEO’s name.

He informed me that the CEO is away of everyone’s response and attitude towards work, and I should count myself lucky that I still have a job.

I was shocked and embarrassed by his response. I had been so sure that speaking up for myself would make a positive difference, but instead it had only made things worse.

I tried to explain myself but the spy was not interested in listening. He simply told me that I should be grateful for the job and that I should stop complaining.

Felt like I jepoardised my job

I suddenly felt like I had made a huge mistake in speaking up and that I had put my job in jeopardy.

I spent the rest of the day feeling angry and disappointed. I wanted to quit and find a better job, but I knew that was not possible.

So I just carried on as if nothing had happened, trying to pretend like I was happy with my job.

GF ANGRY WITH ME BECAUSE I SAID IF SHE DIED I WOULD DATE HER TWIN SISTER

0

I had just finished dinner with my girlfriend and we were walking home. The night had been mostly uneventful, but I had been feeling a bit strange all day.

I had been having a strange dream the past few weeks and I was having trouble getting it out of my head.

Dreamt that I dated my gf’s twin sister after she died

In the dream, my girlfriend had died and I had decided to date her twin sister. I felt guilty for even thinking about it, but it was a recurring dream and I couldn’t shake it.

When we got home, I decided to open up about the dream to my girlfriend. I figured it would be better to get it off my chest and talk about it, rather than bottle it up inside.

I told her about the dream and how I felt guilty for even thinking about it. I expected her to understand, but instead she got angry.

She yelled at me and said I was being selfish and insensitive, and that she couldn’t believe I would even think about such a thing.

She then stormed off, leaving me feeling embarrassed and ashamed.

Apologised to her but everything was never quite the same after

I tried to apologize and explain that it was just a dream, but she wouldn’t listen. She was too angry and hurt to hear what I was saying.

I knew I had messed up, and I felt terrible. I wanted to make it up to her, but I wasn’t sure how.

The next day, I called my girlfriend to apologize again. This time, she seemed a little calmer and more understanding.

We talked for a while and she eventually agreed to forgive me.

However, things were never quite the same between us after that. We still went out and had fun, but there was always a certain tension present.

I could tell she was still upset with me, and I felt terrible for what I had said.

Fast forward to a few months later, and my girlfriend had finally had enough.

She told me she was breaking up with me because she couldn’t get past the fact that I had once said I would date her twin sister if she died.

She said that ever since that, the image of me and her twin sister getting it on kept flooding her mind and she could not take it.

MAN CONSPIRED WITH BOSS TO BRIBE SENIOR NTUC FAIRPRICE EMPLOYEE WITH $25K

0

44-year-old Ngow Chun Siong, who worked for a fish wholesaler Fish Vision Agro-tech, conspired with his (then) boss, 47-year-old Chew Kim Hwee, to bribe a senior team leader of NTUC FairPrice, 48-year-old Lim Kian Kok, paying him about $25,000 in bribes to buy more fish from their company, according to The Straits Times.

Ngow’s job scope included transporting fish for the company, while Chew was the director and majority shareholder for the firm.

They had bribed Lim on at least 8 occasions in 2020 to get him to buy more fish from their firm.

In a separate offence, Ngow was also caught for drink-driving back in April 2022.

Ngow pleaded guilty to one count of drink driving and one count of graft on 13 February and was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment and fined $4,000, as well as being banned from holding or obtaining all classes of driving licenses for 2.5 years.

Lim and Chew’s cases are currently still pending, and Lim is no longer working for NTUC FairPrice.

Background

Fish Vision Agro-tech ran a stall at Jurong Fishery Port and Lim was tasked by NTUC to oversee their buying operations there from 1 July 2013 to October 2020.

Lim was given the discretion to choose how much and which seafood supplier to buy from.

Sometime in February 2020, Ngow asked Lim if he could buy more fish from Fish Vision, and Lim then asked him what would he get if he did.

Ngow then told Chew about what Lim said, and Chew then agreed to pay Lim 20 cents for each KG of fish that he bought from them, which Lim then accepted.

From February 2020 to September 2020, Ngow handed Lim nearly $25,000 in total on several occasions.

After receiving each payment, Lim would give half of the money to Ngow, which was about $12,500.

Before the corrupted deal, Lim usually bought about 200kg of fish from Fish Vision for NTUC, but after the corrupted deal, the amount purchased increased to about 400kg to 600kg a day.

In a separate, unrelated case relating to Ngow’s drink driving, he had drunk alcohol before driving a car along Tampines Avenue 10 on 25 April 2022 at about 1.30am.

He was stopped by Traffic Police officers who performed checks on him and he was found with 62 micrograms of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath.

MAN ACCIDENTALLY PEED ON GF’S BED THE FIRST TIME HE STAYED OVER AT HER’S

0

It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I had been dating my girlfriend for a few months and we were finally ready to take the next step and spend the night together.

We were both excited and I was ready to show her how much I cared for her.

Had a great time together

When I arrived at her house, I was nervous but also excited. We had a great evening together, talking, laughing and getting to know each other a little better.

We had a few drinks together as well and I drank more than what I usually did which made me wanted to go to the toilet to relieve myself.

However, I held it in till the end of the night as I was enjoying my gf’s company

Accidentally peed on her bed

At the end of the night, I had to use the restroom and so I went to the bathroom.

I was quite high when I made my way to the bathroom in her room and was a little oblivious to the surroundings given that it was also quite dark in her room.

Little did I know at the time that I had accidentally peed on her bed. I had been so focused on not making a mess in the bathroom that I hadn’t noticed that I hadn’t even gone to the toilet at all.

Instead, I had simply stood up and relieved myself right on her bed.

When I realized what I had done, I was horrified. I felt like a complete idiot and I wanted to crawl away and never show my face again.

I was scared to look at my girlfriend and I was sure she would be angry and disgusted with me.

My girlfriend, however, was surprisingly understanding. She didn’t get angry with me and instead comforted me and told me that accidents happen.

She even helped me clean up the mess and we both laughed about it afterwards.

SCHEMING MAID THOUGHT ELDERLY WOMAN HAD DEMENTIA, WITHDREW $19K FROM HER ACCOUNT

0

A 39-year-old Indonesian maid in Singapore, Mimin, pleaded to one charge of theft by a servant and was sentenced to 5 months imprisonment on 13 February, according to Channel NewsAsia.

She had suspected that her 71-year-old elderly employer had dementia because she showed symptoms of memory loss, and used the woman’s debit card to withdraw $18,710 from her account for herself.

Another 2 charges were taken into consideration during her sentencing.

What happened?

Mimin started working for the victim in October 2020 and was paid about $670 to $690 per month, where she was tasked with caring for the elderly woman and her bedridden husband.

Minin realised during her work that the victim was showing symptoms of memory impairment, and suspected that she had dementia.

The victim was withdrawing money on one occasion, and the maid saw the woman’s pin number being entered and memorised it, noting that the elderly woman kept her debit card inside her handbag.

The victim’s memory got worse over time and she trusted Mimin with withdrawing money for her.

When Minin helped the victim withdraw money, she would also take some money and keep it for herself, as well as steal the card on occasion to withdraw money.

She withdrew a total of $18,710 from the victim’s account on 46 occasions, from January 2021 to December last year, using it to buy a pair of earrings and remitting most of it home.

Caught

The victim’s daughter used her mother’s debit card to withdraw money for her on 11 February 2022 and found about $100 left in the bank account.

She remembered her mother had about $13,000 in her bank account the previous August and told her brother about it – they then discussed the issue before reporting it to the police about 3 days later.

Mimin claimed innocence in her first two statements provided to the police, she said that the victim had voluntarily given her the debit card and authorised her to withdraw money on her behalf, and added that she followed her instructions and used the money to either buy groceries or passed her the money.

She later confessed to her crimes during her third statement recording, after being confronted with remittance slips that were recovered by the police during their investigations.

MAN PIAK-PIAK WITH DATE NO WEAR ‘HELMET’, SUDDENLY GOT ‘BURNING’ SENSATION

0

It’s a feeling that no man wants to experience. After a date with my latest romantic interest, I returned home with a burning sensation on my kkj. I knew immediately the cause of this sensation, and it was not a pleasant one.

I had had unprotected ‘piak-piak’ with my date.

We were both super into it, till I got tempted not to wear a ‘helmet’

I could remember the moment when I had made the decision to go without a ‘helmet’. We were both super into each other and eager to take things further, but I had hesitated when it came to taking out the ‘helmet’.

I was so caught up in the moment that I decided to just go ahead and have unprotected ‘piak-piak’.

It was a stupid mistake and one that I would soon come to regret.

Suddenly experienced ‘burning’ sensation

The burning sensation on my kkj was the first warning sign that something was wrong.

I knew that I had to take action right away and so I went to my local pharmacy and purchased some over-the-counter anti-bacterial cream. I applied it to my kkj and then waited for the burning sensation to subside.

Unfortunately, the burning sensation did not go away.

Visited a doctor, diagnosed to have STI

I decided to take the next step and visit my doctor. After a thorough examination, my doctor diagnosed me with an infection known as trichomoniasis.

This is a STI that can be spread through unprotected ‘piak-piak’.

My doctor prescribed me a course of antibiotics to treat the infection and advised me to abstain from ‘piak-piak’ until the course of antibiotics had been completed.

I was horrified and embarrassed that my own carelessness had led me to this situation. But I was determined to get better and so I followed my doctor’s advice and completed the course of antibiotics.

Made full recovery, now die die also must wear ‘helmet’

Fortunately, the burning sensation did eventually go away and I made a full recovery.

Since then, I have become much more aware of the potential risks associated with unprotected ‘piak-piak’.

I now always make sure that I use a ‘helmet’ with my partners, no matter how much I may be tempted to go without one.
