FRESH GRAD REJECTS $2.5K JOB, GET NAGGED NON-STOP BY HIS MONEY MINDED MOTHER

0

Just want to rant here hahaa

Gg to grad soon, and my mum is like faster go find job, any job just take. I recently declined a super lowball 2.5k job, and she has been nagging at me ever since, totally regret telling her.

Her perspective is like, lowball or what, she doesnt unds, hv money go work, people looking for jobs shld get any job they can. Then I ask her, so you want me to be depressed and low pay? Then my mum said, still got pay what, how difficult can the work be, isn’t it just typing (tech job btw), dont think too much wont be depressed, interview say OT and weekend work just scaring ppl, wont happen one.

She has only worked pt jobs w low qualifications so she dont unds me, like at all. And she die die dont believe me when I said OT work no extra pay, she kept insisting that OT work is good cos got extra money.

Everyday is like this. “Pay ok what, any pay just say yes la, there is no pay that is low, the companies know what to pay you, dont big mouth. Work tiring meh? Sit down get fat only, move fingers. Unhappy resign also ok what, got money”. Wha she so money minded I really cannot than.

Everything is money money money, not like we living in rental flat or damn poor.

Ok I really dont unds her and it’s not like I’m shaking my legs at home or not paying my part of the bills, she keeps nagging me to find any job, like literally 2k also ok range to her.

How to get through to her idk. Other parents hv high expectations of their kids, then there’s mine, 2.5k is very good for a degree holder, on the other extreme end.

I give up alrdy, just job search in silence.

COUPLE FIGHTING OVER LEG HAIR, GF SAYS SHE’LL SHAVE HER LEGS IF BF SHAVES HIS

0

telling my boyfriend I’ll shave my legs if he shaves his?

I know this post sounds super petty, but this is the most ridiculous fight I’ve had with my boyfriend, and unfortunately it’s where we’re at.

I [F28] have never shaved in my life. I think it’s up to the person regardless, but I’ve also just never really had a lot of hair.

My boyfriend recently stayed over and asked to borrow a razor. Since I don’t shave, I didn’t have one on hand, and apparently that grossed him out.

He told me that it was unhygienic to not shave and that it traps a lot of dirt inside and we argued back and forth about the issue when I finally told him that I’d only start shaving my legs if he shaved his first.

He called me immature and petty, whereas I think he’s being super fixated on this weird thing.

It honestly wouldn’t really bother me to shave, but I’m just more irked at his statements where he basically called me dirty. I was serious though: I’ll shave whenever he shaves too.

We’re at an impasse but I wonder if I am being a little too petty about the whole thing.

HAWKER UPSET AT “STOLEN” TRAYS, WRITES NOTE – “WHOEVER TAKES THE TRAYS, WHOLE FAMILY DIE”

0

A drink stall hawker at Taman Jurong got upset after his trays were allegedly stolen from his stall three days in a row.

Unhappy with his trays being taken, he wrote a cardboard note and left it on top of the trays, with a message for the thief, saying: “whoever takes the trays, your whole family will die.”

A customer saw the note and took a photo of it, sharing it on social media: “Saw this at Taman Jurong hawker level #02-62 .this trays are nea government property. How can write like this! ( Who take whole family die) the seller very bad!!!”

Shin Min Daily News reported that the hawker was an assistant at a drinks stall at Taman Jurong Food Centre, who has been working there for about a year.

He said that the trays first started going missing on 31 January, and thought that it was just a one-off event – but then it happened again over the next two days.

He then checked the CCTV footage and found out that the culprit was another hawker, and he then placed the sign on top of the trays.

He said that he did this to deter the “thief” from taking any more trays without permission because he didn’t want to confront the other hawker directly.

He was upset because he needed them during the lunchtime peak period, and he also had to wash them every day.

SMDN reported that the trays were taken by the “thief” because he thought they were not used and placed outside the drinks stall, which had its shutters closed.

The “thief” shared that it was a misunderstanding and that he stopped taking the trays after he realised that the stall was still using them.

The trays at the hawker centre are shared among the hawkers, according to the Taman Jurong Hawkers Association Chairperson Zhang Wen Jun.

He said that each hawker was provided with 60 trays, and added that there should be around 1,000 extra trays to go around because 20 stalls are not in use.

They are then placed on the shelves for the hawkers to collect themselves after being washed.

Workplace Crushes

Everyone has them. We get over some easily, and some are just so hard to get over.

I’ve recently had one on this fair lady at work, and it’s driving me nuts. She’s not your typical hot mei mei, but she’s sophisticated, intellectual and oh god so pure in heart. The thing is, we’ve been working and having meals together for so long, and it’s only been recently that we start to know each other a little more, and I just keep wanting more.

What is wrong with me? She’s got a steady guy in her life, and so do I. I do hope I get over this soon, because she’s already appeared in my dreams twice as a romantic partner, and I am really this close to asking her if I could just have one date with her. Help needed. ????

Here are what netizens think:

If u feel this girl is better than your gf in many ways, then u know u dont love your gf. Can u then jus break off with your gf and not waste her time any more.

Depending on your background, 2 wives is acceptable but best wait until she single back, bro. Good luck!

If you struck Toto, ask her out. If you didn’t, it is obvious you’re not the Chosen One. Go and sleep la.

Didn’t know you also have a steady guy in your life

you’ve already got someone steady, and know that she has one as well, and you’re still thinking about shooting your shot…?  I feel sorry for your partner

Depending on your background, 2 wives is acceptable but best wait until she single back, bro. Good luck!

0

A hawker stall in Bedok North, Xian Jin Mixed Vegetable Rice, have been keeping their prices stable for the last 18 years, maintaining it at $2 for a three-dish economy rice meal.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the stall hasn’t raised prices since they started running their business about 18 years ago.

The boss of the stall, said that she kept the prices low because there are many elderly residents living in the area, and she does it for them despite not making much money off it.

She was asked if she is able to make a profit from her business, to which she replied that she is not making a loss at the moment.

Her signboard has also not been changed since the business started 18 years ago.

About 6 to 7 customers were seen queueing up at her stall when a reporter from SMDN paid her stall a visit on 3 February.

FT STUDENT ASK HOW TO GET SG CITIZENSHIP, NETIZENS TELL HER TO GIVE BIRTH

0

I’m an international student at NUS (white female American) and I would like to become a Singapore citizen.

I grew up in Chicago and I always wondered if dense urban environments could ever be safe and clean, especially for a woman. I spent a summer here as a high school exchange student and I knew quickly that Singapore is a place I wouldn’t mind spending the rest of my life in.

I tried living in Tokyo for a summer. Even though it was as clean and as safe as Singapore, there was no way I was going to fit into a non English-speaking society. I do not plan to go back to America. What are the chances that the Singapore government would award citizenship to a white American lady?

I know of several Chinese Malaysians friends who have gotten citizenships without much difficulty. It would seem that culturally, Chinese Malaysians are the most obvious candidates for citizenship in Singapore. Would appreciate it if I could get some advice on whether my ethnicity and nationality would be a problem for citizenship. Thanks a lot!

Here are what netizens think:

Get Singaporean husband would be easy way

nope as long as you hold a profession that our nation consider as a rare talent

even a Singapore husband is not a guarantee. You need a Singapore child preferably male

If u wana do it with honesty and dignity, u need to work and live in sg for few years first, then apply for PR and only if u got it then only u can apply for citizenship. If u wan shortcut, marry a local guy, thats the fastest way. Fyi, ica treats malaysian applications differently and they prioritise malaysians over all other nationalities so dont compare urself w ur Malaysian frens

Get your pr first which is dirt cheap. Then really decide if you want to be a citizens. Pr are treated almost equally to citizens, if not better. Then they will adk to be citizens. And the fun begins.

WOMAN LOST $17K TO JOB SCAM THAT WAS MEANT FOR HER WEDDING – I SHOULD BE MARRIED BY NOW

0

A 35-year-old woman was cheated of $17,000 that was meant for her wedding which she had planned to hold at the tail end of 2021.

She said that she took 3 years to save that amount of money, which was cheated from her in just a day back in September 2021.

She said that because of the job scam, her wedding won’t be happening any time soon; and that the $17,000 she lost might not be a lot to some people, but it took her a long time to save up for it because she doesn’t earn a lot.

How she got scammed

She said that she saw a job listing for a marketing position and she took the opportunity because she wanted to earn some extra money for her wedding.

She was hired as an “affiliate marketing associate” for the company, which claimed to be for Qoo10, and she was told to buy products on the platforms using her own money to help boost the merchants’ sales figures.

The “company” told her that they would reimburse her for the money that she spent as well as pay her a small commission.

As part of the scam tactic, the woman made about $100 in profits within an hour that day, with the scammer staying true to their words in order to gain her trust.

The woman was then told to buy products that were increasingly expensive, and she didn’t get her money back; with the scammer coming up with excuses such as she was too slow in completing her assignments.

She was eventually told to transfer bigger amounts of money if she wanted her money back, which she heeded because she was desperate,m spending more than $17,000 on things such as jewellery, computers, watches and etcetera.

She realised she was scammed and was devastated by the loss, and she said that she was looking forward to starting a life with her fiance and having kids – she said that she is not young anymore and fears not being able to have children later on.

Her fiance has been understanding of her and told her to be more careful about the things that she sees online in future.

The police are also investigating the incident and one of the accounts that the woman used to send money to the scammers has been frozen.

31 Y.O MAN ALLEGEDLY ILL-TREATED BABY WHO WAS KILLED WITH A FRACTURED SKULL BY HIS WIFE

0

A 2-month-old baby, Zabelle Peh Yu Xuan, was forcefully dropped into a baby cot by 29-year-old Sim Liang Xiu on 8 January and died from a fractured skull.

Her husband, 31-year-old Peh Wei Jian had allegedly slapped the baby in a flat at Block 363 Sembawang Crescent on 5 January at about 1.30am.

The gag order preventing his identity from being revealed was lifted on Monday, and he is facing a new charge, although it was not disclosed in court; and he is intending to engage a lawyer.

Peh married Sim in 2018, and his wife is being accused of murdering the baby on 8 January.

Peh is facing a charge under the Children and Young Persons Act, and will be remanded at the Central Police Division before his case is heard again on 13 February.

His wife is also being remanded at the Central Police Division and her case has been adjourned to 10 February.

Wife’s charge upgraded to murder

29-year-old Sim Liang Xiu, was originally charged with causing grievous hurt to a baby by forcefully dropping the infant into a cot.

Sim’s charge has since been upgraded to murder earlier today and is now accused of causing the death of the baby, Zabelle Peh Yu Xuan.

A court order that forbids her identification was lifted, although the woman’s relation to the baby was not revealed in court documents.

She was originally charged with forcefully dropping the 2-month-old baby into a cot on 8 January knowing that her action would cause grievous hurt to the baby.

The baby suffered a fracture to her skull as a result of Sim’s actions.

The police prosecutor applied to lift the gag order on the identities of both Sim and the baby because the baby had died, which was granted by the court.

The prosecutor also requested for Sim to be remanded a further week, citing investigations and visitations of the crime scene.

Sim appeared in court via a video link from her remand and told the court that she didn’t understand what was going on, saying in Chinese “the police already said I’m guilty, what is there to investigate?”

She is set to return to court next week, after the judge replied that her offence was very serious and that the police need time to finish their investigations after gathering evidence.
