Especially, when they sent a set meals completed with drinks. So, again I said that, please do gentle remind the food chains company to remind the rider’s or cyclist make sure they put those drinks into a safe compartments inside the delivery box. These is to prevent the drinks spilling out from the packs,

OVERCROWDING AT SERANGOON MRT AFTER EMERGENCY STOP PLUNGER WAS PULLED

0

Netizen Wu Yong Zheng shared a photo of an overcrowded MRT platform at Serangoon MRT, calling it a “near stampede situation.”

Commuters were seen tightly packed with each other as they waited for the trains to come, with more commuters arriving via the escalator.

Wu said “I experienced a near crowd stampede situation 8:37am at Serangoon circle line MRT station. I was coming down the escalator while the platform was completely full of people. I shouted “turn off the escalator”. A few people started to shout with me. Fortunately nobody fall down.”

Netizens’ comments

  • I used to live near Serangoon. And I always hated travelling via MRT around peak hours. Its consistently busy
  • I was there at 8:45 ish. My train was stopped between Bishan and Lorong Chuan with an announcement that says due to congestion ahead there will be some delay and the train stopped for a minute. When I arrived at Serangoon Station it was perfectly normal. I didn’t even know this occurred until I read this post.
It was solved in minutes. Kudos to the team managing it
  • Before anyone starts jumping to conclusions, please, you don’t know the station, CC13 Serangoon (CSER) better than I do.
From what I heard from my Transit Security Officers (TSOs), somebody pressed the Emergency Stop Plunger (ESP) causing this. Yes, we should have acted quicker and we witness all sorts of funny situations at our station but no one would’ve expected this and reacted in time. This is why we need commuters to also help us along, and I thank those who shouted “Stop the escalators!”.
I arrived at CSER at 0839H so I didn’t see or hear the commotion for myself but what I saw afterwards was normal.
If any of you have any feedback for my station, please do let me know. What we can do within our means, we will definitely try to do and what we can’t, we’ll likewise let those who are able to, to help us do so.
Thank you and I look forward to CSERving all of you.

SMRT’s statement

Some of you may have read about this morning’s incident online :

At around 8.30am on 10 Nov, a commuter, who wanted to help a fellow commuter who was unwell, activated the Emergency Stop Plunger at the platform of Bartley station on the Circle Line, towards Marina Bay station. This caused the train service to stop.

Our station staff immediately responded to the activation and attended to the unwell commuter at the platform. Subsequently, he felt better and declined medical attention before leaving the station on his own.

Train services (towards Marina Bay) resumed after about five minutes.

As the incident occurred during the morning peak period, nearby interchange stations along the Circle Line experienced crowding at the platforms. Station staff controlled the flow of commuters from the upper concourse level to the platform level, to prevent over-crowding on the platform. The crowds were mostly cleared by the third train after service had resumed.

We thank the commuters who alerted our staff to the situation. The Emergency Stop Plunger located on the station platforms stop train services when activated. If any commuter wishes to alert our staff to an incident on the platform without stopping the train service, kindly approach our staff at the Passenger Service Centre located at the Concourse level of each station.

18 Y.O M’SIAN MOLESTED 11 Y.O GIRL IN HIS 1ST WEEK OF WORKING IN S’PORE ON WORK PERMIT

0

18-year-old Lee Jian Ping pleaded guilty on 10 November to molesting an 11-year-old girl, less than a week after he started working in Singapore under a work permit.

He admitted to repeatedly touching the victim’s backside over her clothes at Jurong Point Shopping Centre on 19 June this year.

TODAY reported that Lee had entered Singapore on 20 May on a work permit, and was in the mall on 19 June on his way to the toilet when he noticed the victim and followed her.

The girl had just had a disagreement with her brother that evening while they were buying food at the shopping centre, and she walked home on her own.

Lee asked the victim to show him the way to the supermarket, and as they walked towards the shopping mall, Lee touched her backside 5 times with the back of his hand.

The little girl then tried to create some distance away from Lee.

When reaching the entrance of the mall, Lee asked her to follow him down a different path but the girl rejected him and walked into the mall instead.

Lee then asked her about where she lived, her school, her age, height and if she had a boyfriend.

The victim answered some of the questions as Lee then once again asked her to follow him, which the girl refused and said that she was waiting for her father.

The girl then returned home after Lee left, and told her father about what happened, and the father brought the girl back to confront Lee at his workplace, to which he then apologised after his work and said that he was only asking for directions.

His actions were caught on CCTV at the mall, and Lee said that he had “felt the urge to do” what he did.

Lee is currently held in remand for a week and will be sentenced at a later hearing.

FRESH GRAD EARNING $4.5K SALARY, THEN FINDS OUT OTHERS IN THE SAME ROLE EARN $6.2K

0

Today I found out that I got super lowballed salary as a fresh grad. I’ve been working for this company in finance for 6 months as a junior PM. Drawing 4.5k.

Just found out today that there’s a girl who just joined, same role and same team, where she let it slip that she’s drawing 6.2k a month. WTF. No prior experience, graduated from some uni in the US, 21 yo. While ive been working my ass off for internships as local grad wasting my life away in NS and joining workforce at 25.

How should I raise this to my manager, or should I even? What should I say?

To be fair, I might have lowballed myself during the interview too, when I was asked. As I only used Glassdoor and some friends as reference. Asked for 4.7k, got 4.5k. But knowing that theres someone who just joined thats getting 1.7k more than me is insane.

Am I screwed now or what when it comes to next job during negotiation (since they ask for last draw).

I’m afraid of asking for a raise now, since there’s nothing to so-called back my claim on what I’m doing better to deserve higher pay. Then again, whatever i overheard about the new girl earning more is more hearsay (not even sure if i can use this to leverage, or worst make it look bad on me or backfire)

What should i do? Or suck thumb? 🙁

BF TOLD PREGNANT GF “I DON’T WANT TO BE PART OF THIS”, THEN SHE HAD AN ABORTION

0

I (20F) recently went through a medical abortion here in Singapore. I’m not going to specify my details here for confidentiality reasons but I’m just going to share about my experience and my emotions.

I found out I was pregnant. A week later I broke up with my boyfriend as he did not want to be part of this. He neglected me right after i brought up the break up and went on to clubbing, parties and gone back to his old ways while I’m still going through my pregnancy. I can’t deny that it hurts terribly but from that point I knew that I could never have him in my life anymore.

Obviously I’m too young to raise the child by myself and I had covid and even took emergency contraceptive weeks before confirming my pregnancy. With no partner around and a baby potentially growing unhealthily in me, it is best for me to abort.

The experience to those in Singapore who want to know:

During ultrasound, i was still under 10 weeks pregnant so I didn’t think I would be able to see the shape of the baby and the heartbeat. The guilt really hit me as I have to abort him/her.

Counselling is mandatory. It was a 15 minute talk with a councillor. She didn’t convince me to keep, she only went through the abortion process and advise me on the variety of contraceptive options they have such as IUD and hormonal injections.

The abortion is in two parts: Part one is having the mifepristone orally then going home after 30 mins of observation. Soon after taking the pill I experienced fever and fatigue. The second day I vomited for an hour and had diarrhoea.

The second part is a misoprostrol pill that will be inserted into the vagina 2 days after taking the first pill.

For KKH, it is mandatory to be admitted in the hospital until its confirmed that the baby is fully expelled while the rest of the hospitals allow you to go home after the insertion of the pill.

I was still vomiting in the morning and I was told to be admitted in the hospital at 5am(not real timing). I got a bed 30 mins after registration and changed into the gown provided. They provided pads, disposable underwear, pee pads for the bed and wipes. Before breakfast, medication is given. Anti gastric to be taken before breakfast, antibiotics and painkillers to be taken after.

They inserted the misoprostol pill before breakfast came so I was already experiencing cramps before I could even take the painkillers. Breakfast came and i took the pills with it but vomited out everything 30 mins after. I wasn’t allowed to take anymore painkillers as i could only have them every 4 hrs.

The pain was horrible, it was the worst I’ve ever gone through. The nurses said that it is similar to childbirth and the pain was necessary to expel the fetus. I couldn’t sleep or use my phone to distract myself so it was just pain for the next 4 hours. I vomited and had diarrhoea another 3 times.

Around 4 hrs later a huge blob came. Its a clear sac filled with purple blood (probably deoxygenated since i had the pill two days earlier). Called the nurses and they retrieved the fetus. There were a lot of mixed feelings. Relieved because its out but sad because my body lost a child.

I then bled most of the tissues out, going through 1 pad every two hours. I had my last ultrasound and its all good so I was discharged in the evening. The whole process was 11 hours.

That was my abortion experience in Singapore and I would never want anyone to go through that.

Right now, I’m still experiencing the grief of losing my partner and the guilt of terminating our child. I would like to know if there’s anyone that went through the same situation as me, how did you go through this without a partner?

RESIDENT SMOKES AT HIS HDB BALCONY, NEIGHBOURS HAVE TO ALWAY SHUT THEIR WINDOWS

0

What would you do if your neighbour smokes at his balcony all the time?

I asked this in my BTO chat and to my horror up to 6 families have all their windows shut to accomodate and live in stuffy conditions only to allow their smoking neighbour the ability to smoke in his own home.

I’ve always felt that in SG, you are not really a king of your own property. If you make too much noise at midnight, too frequently, you can get sued for private nuisance.

Likewise, if you decide to grow plants in your house till its an eyesore and grows outta your window, the TC will come chop your plants away. Sadly, for ciggs which are way more harmful than plants and music, its supposedly ok.

How would any of you deal w a neighbour who smokes like a chimney?

Edit: have gone down a few times and pressed the doorbell but left standing there. Not keen to talk somehow.

Also all 6 families i polled in my bto telegram all have different smoking neighbours hahaha.

Netizen’s comments

Is the smoking unit above or below you? Above then nothing can be done from your side. Maybe burn some incense.

If they are below you, a lot of things you can do. Spray insecticide to kill mosquitos and insects, use Mr Muscle Bleach to clean your wall, wash your windows, do jumping jacks to keep fit every now and then, aim your subwoofers downwards and blast some death metal while you are at work or out for dinner.

Morale of the story is don’t have bad relationships with neighbors who live directly above you. They can make your life a living hell.

BF DOESN’T LET GF USE MICROWAVE, SAYS WILL CAUSE CANCER – ONCE BROKE UP WITH EX OVER SODA

0

This is frustrating me. He doesn’t believe in using a microwave to heat up food. If I have left overs and it’s been a long day I can’t heat up food in a microwave it has to be on a stove. If I want popcorn I can’t use the microwave.

Now that I started my new job he refuses to let me use the microwave at work and suggested I take the air fryer. He gets frustrated when I want to use the microwave. He believes it can cause cancer.

Like wtf it feels over controlling. I don’t tell him how to eat his food or what he eats. I don’t know but it’s starting to upset me. I can’t even drink regular water from the fridge it has to be filtered water he filled up at a store.

It’s upsetting me. I understand he means well about health but I’m not stuffing my face with greasy fast food, sugar ladden soda, carbs, and anything that can severely damage my health.

UPDATE: We had an argument and I asked if we could have boundaries he blew it out of proportion and brought up a past relationship about his ex drinking soda and that’s what ended their relationship.

He said ok you can have boundaries you can do whatever you want to do don’t let me stop you. Then he went on a tangent about me and my blood pressure issues and how the microwave is damaging my body.

My BP issues are from major life stressors before I met him. He said sure we can have boundaries and if I decided to go out on a drinking binge, I have that right…

Like…. He doesn’t believe in me taking BP medication, he doesn’t believe in using a microwave, he doesn’t believe in drinking certain water. I’m at a loss.

We just moved in together two days ago and I made the 200 mile journey for my health. I don’t know… There’s so much I can type to this story it’s overwhelming.
