FATHER BELIEVE AN INVESTMENT SCAMMER UNTIL HE SOLD HIS HDB TO FUND MORE

0

Trust me. NOTHING.

My old man did the same since his retirement.

He sold his house to me at market rate by threatening to sell it cheap to random strangers so he can fuel his scam investment. I don’t want my mum to be homeless so I give up deposit in my future dream house to take over my current flat.

Earlier, I screamed, coached, cried, talk softly but nothing works. I had told him in a family meeting that the HDB money was meant for my mum’s medical bill as she had terminal cancer. If they want to go holiday or buy a small flat, I had no questions. All except his so called investment. Howver, my mum stayed only in C ward in hospital while she was hospitalized. I paid for all the medical supplies with my mum’s joint account while she was at home after she was discharged so that she passed away at home.

No surprise but that old man LOST almost all the HDB profit of x00k in 6mths to overseas “future trader” that he called “shifu” which he never met. Mind you, that online chap is an Indian from his bloody accent and my dad claimed that he is an English man. I had worked as CS, servicing worldwide client before so I am aware how accents across the world sounded like. His defense? “It’s my money, it’s my Right. Don’t be rude”

Shortly afterwards, he “invested” $x0kin was a MAS black listed company, recommended by my own black hearted cousin. Called my cousin and he said “your dad is willing to invest, I did not force him”. I showed that old man the company name in MAS and he never even believed in me (financial graduate). My cousin (ITE graduate) was the genius in investment while I, previous worked in financial related job, cannot give him sound financial advice.

As of earlier this year, he joined a MLM that was fined by Ministry of Health so that he can sell his so called “longevity pills”, claiming that it was his last get rich bucket. Rather give thousands (above 5 figures) away than contributing to my household. My house is in serious need to renovation since 2000 with cracked tiles, broken electrical appliances, shelves etc.

I had no longer call him as “dad” or “father” in my heart. He is just another stranger to me now. I am just feeding him out of the so call fillal piety, never about love anymore. I did not give him a single dime now so even if he called all his relatives and said I am heartless/jobless, not giving money etc, I don’t f* care.

Conclusion: Cut ties with your dad. He is an addicted f* up gambler. My home is totally destroyed by that man living under the same roof as me, my future dream home was gone. Go and live your dream, don’t end up as me.

All the best to your future endeavors.

WOMAN BOUGHT A NEW HOME AND FOUND OUT IT WAS HAUNTED, HEARS SOBBING AT NIGHT

0

I bought my first home in 2003, and was over the moon. Shortly after moving in, two of my neighbors began joking with me about the ghost in my home.

Well, I thought they were joking so I just played along pretending I had seen one and it was no big deal. Well, as time went on, I met more and more of my neighbors and they all brought up the same topic.

Finally an elderly woman on the block who was quite kind and friendly told me story after I’d asked her. I knew she wasn’t going to screw with my head which is why I asked in the first place.

Turned out the previous owner purchased the home and never lived there because she said it was haunted. Sounds in the night of foot steps and sobbing, and glimpses of a man sitting in the kitchen covered in blood.

One of my neighbors helped with the renovations of the house and said that he was putting up dry wall when he felt something lift up his hair. Though I’ve had paranormal experiences before, it had been years, and by then I just chalked it up to night terrors.

I heard from the neighbours that one of the previous tenants allegedly did the unthinkable inside my home and died there.

I remember my grandmother saying, “when the dead come to you, they want something, perform an act of charity in their name and pray for them.”

So I did, i sat down at the kitchen table one night and recited a prayer for the deceased. On the ninth night, I heard uncontrollable sobbing, I felt a strong presence of grief and despair, and the sound of hyperventilating breathing, as though someone could not catch their breath.

I sat in the presence of this knowing it was not malignant, but rather a connection of intimacy and compassion of which he was in need..

For forty five days I said a prayer for his soul. A few times I had awakened to feel his presence standing over my bed, but knew it was not a malignant presence.

This still happens from time to time, but less and less frequently.

POWER OUTAGE @ WOODLANDS CHECKPOINT, WHOLE PLACE DARK WITH ONLY EMERGENCY LIGHTS

0

The Woodlands Checkpoint experienced a power outage on 9 October at about 1am, with motorists ending up being rerouted to the Tuas Second Link because immigration clearances were delayed.

The power was only restored several hours later, and ICA issued a statement on Facebook at about 5.30am announcing the resumption of power.

ICA’s Facebook update

Hello darkness my old friend

Several commuters who were adversely affected by the power outage, took to social media to complain about the situation, with some of them being stuck at Woodlands Checkpoint for hours.

Facebook user Venessa Tan shared that the Woodlands Checkpoint was dark, and only had the emergency lights on, as she was midway from Singapore to JB in a bus.

She said that the ICA officers had to handwrite their passport information.

Other motorists described the situation that they faced, with Facebook user Muzafira Majab saying that she was stuck at the Second Link at 3.39am.

She said that she was stuck for more than an hour with her companions, and they then detoured and went to Tuas Second Link, only to be stuck again.

31 Y.O MAN FAKED HIS DIPLOMA TO GET JOB AS FIRE SAFETY MANAGER, JAILED 3 WEEKS

0

31-year-old Muhammad Rasul Kadir Ali pleaded guilty to two charges of using a forged polytechnic document and cheating by personation, and he was sentenced to 3 weeks imprisonment on 5 October, according to TODAY.

He had submitted a forged diploma to get a job as a fire safety manager.

Rasul also put himself as his own reference contact so as to give good feedback about himself by impersonating them.

He was eventually caught after a human resources manager at SPH Retail Property Management Services called the two reference contacts and noticed that their voices sounded the same, before conducting a check after finding it suspicious.

Rasul was apparently reluctant at first to forge the diploma but didn’t want to spend 2 years in school to get the proper certifications and qualifications.

He eventually went ahead and faked his diploma instead, and also submitted it to another company.

HUSBAND SLEPT WITH COWORKER, TELLS WIFE IT WAS BECAUSE COLLEAGUE “DARED” HIM TO

0

My husband confessed to sleeping with his female coworker after she dared him to.

He (36) came forward and confessed to me about it 2 days ago. He said that it happened 4 months ago. His new female coworker (27) was “harrassing” him at work and being all flirty and over chatty with him.

He said he tried so hard to draw the line with her, put an end to her harrassing texts and comments but then he said she cornered him and “dared” him to sleep with her.

And kept nagging him saying he “couldn’t” handle her if he tried. He said he didn’t how and why he acted the way he did, but said that she pushed a button in him and he let her get in his head.

He said that that very same day (I know which day it was) he found himself in her place and one thing led to another and it just happened.

He swore he had no control over what he did and that he in that moment felt like he wasn’t himself and now he’s deep in guilt.

He admitted going to therapy for the past 2 months to try to overcome this but he said he can’t do that without coming clean about what he did.

In the middle of all my shock and disappointment he’s begging me to help him rebuild my trust in him and give him a chance.

He also offered to quit his job if that’s what I want, but I don’t know. I did not give an answer I’m just still in shock I guess.

Don’t know how to handle this. Although I haven’t seen him since the confession he hasn’t stop trying to speak to me.

MAN THINKING TO LEAVE OVERSEAS FOR GOOD LEAVING WIFE BEHIND CAUSE HIS BORED

0

What’s stopping me from leaving?

Sometimes, I ask myself – what is stopping me from leaving?

I’m 35. Dead-end MNC job where I stare at Excel and Outlook daily. Promoted to middle management, which is a hellscape, with out-of-touch helicopter bosses above me and too many fresh graduates beneath me. I have exactly five office shirts, and like clockwork every day, I make my way downtown on the crowded MRT.

Married for three years; we have no children. On busy days, when I come home late from the office, the wife is already asleep, and we don’t say a word. She’s alright. We dated since Uni, and was each other’s firsts. The HDB is almost fully paid for; thankfully, it was not a million dollars. There’s barely a spark in the relationship. We’ve possibly run out of ways to improve each other, and I’m not sure what to do next.

Friends. A few, not more than the fingers on a hand. All average people, some are attached. We meet once or twice a month for drinks, but nothing too fancy. I try not to overspend, and I stay away from alcohol, because God knows I have to drag myself to the office on a Saturday morning.

Vacations. Taiwan, Bali, Korea, Japan. Once a year, maybe twice if we’re feeling like it, apart for the past three years. Not sure what else to mention here. The grind comes to a pause, but the dreadful feeling in the return flight is overwhelming.

I’m depressed, and I’ve sought professional help with two doctors and even tried to rekindle my faith in the church during this time. They’re all good people, but I just don’t think anything is working.

I’ve got approximately 45 thousand in my bank, but not a lot of material possessions. I’ve been toying with the idea of leaving permanently; maybe buy a one-way flight to another country and start anew. A new name, a fresh start. Nothing in Singapore seems to work. I live for a dead-end job, a dead relationship, and I have no spare time. Aspirations I’ve had since I was a teenager never manifested. I’ve always wanted to draw comics, or hike mountains, or visit a circus, or learn aerial yoga, or simply invest in myself.

Like I said, I’m 35. The best time to go might be now. Thank you for reading my rant. I expect to get criticised in the comments but that’s okay. My life now has no colour in it and I have to do this. I think I’ll go for it.

WOMAN “BAO TOH” BOSS TO H.R, SCARED HE’LL FIND OUT SHE’S THE ONE WHO REPORTED

0

I reported my boss’s boss to HR and I’m afraid I’ve started a war.

Sooo… I’m new to this corporate position with a very large bank, but i’m an entry level project coordinator. I mean nobody reports to me. I’m a noob. SO, Let’s call him Brian, he’s a regional manager and he hosted a happy hour at a pub with my team.

He was next to me and 3 others who heard. Basically, unsolicited and unwarranted, out of the blue he said that the woman mentoring and leading my training (call her Lindsey) would not be attending the next session because she just found out this week that she has breast cancer.

Lindsey wasn’t there. And the next training, she mentioned nothing like “as you know, Brian has informed you I have cancer…” NO that didn’t happen. SHE is unaware he spilled her medical information.

He disclosed her personal information to my team over happy hour! It’s like he said it to draw attention to himself like “I hold this golden news” but Lindsey wasn’t there to tell HER story. He robbed her of her voice.

Now I’ve reported the story to HR and they’re going to interview the 3 other witnesses I listed.

I asked to remain anonymous. But I have a feeling by process of elimination they’ll find out I was the rat who went to HR. But I thought it was wrong of him to take that from her.

UGHHH I fear retaliation. What if he makes my life harder or maybe he will move me to another team. I almost backed out of telling HR but they assured me of the non-retaliation policy and I opened this can of worms.

Any advice? what’s going to happen next? Damnit.

FATHER REFUSE TO BELIEVE HE WAS SCAMMED & CONTINUES TO PUT IN MORE MONEY

How to stop a family tragedy

My dad is beyond help…He has been transferring close to 300k to scammers for more than a year now, believing that it is an investment scheme and he will be able to get 450k in total as returns.

He borrowed money from friends, relatives, loan shark and stole money from my mum, begging us countless times to transfer him 1k each time, saying its the last 1k before he can receive his returns. He still don’t believe it is a scam each time, and say that we don’t trust him.

Our family has fallen apart due to his greed, and him not waking up to his senses. We went to the police station to seek advice, but nothing can be done if the victim doesn’t believe it is a scam and make a police report.

My mum is planning to file a divorce, but I believe it will take several months to finalise everything. But in the meantime, I am really afraid something could happen to us since he is still staying with us, but there is nothing we can do. Really hope that someone can give advice on this.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Let the bank know, hopefully they can close the account and stop the transactions
  • Once the transfers stop, the money and “investors” will be gone. Only then he will wake up. Yes, its brutal but take it as a hard lesson. Meanwhile, u n ur mum can try go to the bank n seek advice n help n see if its possible to stop thd transfer but im afraid ur dad need to be there as well. If he dont want to go its fine, let him feel the pain. U focus on ur mums well being n watch him from afar
  • You can try to declare him mentally incompetent and remove access from all accounts. Sigh.
  • Time to move out away from this scammer siaolang laopeh.. Nothing u can do to stop them for getting free easy money same like those insurance scam agents…

STUDY – EATING TOO MUCH WHITE RICE MAY INCREASE CHANCES OF HEART DISEASES

A recent study by the American College of Cardiology has shown that refined grains such as white rice, could increase the risk of heart diseases.

ACC said that refined grains such as white rice have been processed to extend their shelf life via removing some nutrients that are “important”.

The study involved 1,168 healthy patients and another 1,369 patients with coronary artery diseases, and they completed a food frequency survey to determine the relationship between consuming whole and refined grains.

The end result of the survey concluded that higher consumption of refined grains like white rice increases the risk of heart disease

Findings by American College of Cardiology

In one of the first studies to examine the relationship between different types of grain intake and premature coronary artery disease in the Middle East, researchers found a higher intake of refined grain was associated with an increased risk of premature coronary artery disease in an Iranian population, while eating whole grains was associated with reduced risk. The study will be presented at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Middle East 2022 Together with the 13th Emirates Cardiac Society Congress, taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 7-9, 2022.

According to the researchers, previous epidemiological studies have reported an association between different types of grain intake with the risk of coronary artery disease. The current study evaluated the association between refined and whole grains consumption and risk of PCAD in an Iranian population.

Premature coronary artery disease (PCAD) refers to atherosclerotic narrowing of coronary arteries in males under 55 years old or in females under 65 years old. It is often asymptomatic early in the course of the disease but may lead to chest pain (angina) and/or heart attack with progressive development of narrowing (stenosis) or plaque rupture of the arterial wall. Risk factors for PCAD include smoking, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.

“There are many factors involved in why people may be consuming more refined grains as opposed to whole grains and these cases differ between people, but some of the most important factors to consider include the economy and income, job, education, culture, age and other similar factors,” said Mohammad Amin Khajavi Gaskarei, MD, of the Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Center and Cardiovascular Research Institute at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Isfahan, Iran, and the study’s lead author. “A diet that includes consuming a high amount of unhealthy and refined grains can be considered similar to consuming a diet containing a lot of unhealthy sugars and oils.”

Whole grains are defined as containing the entire grain, while refined grains have been milled—ground into flour or meal—to improve shelf life but they lose important nutrients in the process. The 2019 ACC/American Heart Association Guideline on the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease recommends a diet that emphasizes the intake of vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains and fish to decrease heart disease risk factors.

The study recruited 2099 individuals with PCAD from hospitals with catheterization labs in different cities and ethnicities throughout Iran who underwent coronary angiography (women aged ≤ 70 and men ≤ 60). In total, 1,168 patients with normal coronary arteries were included in the control group, while 1,369 patients with CAD with obstruction equal or above 75% in at least a single coronary artery or ≥ 50% in the left main coronary artery made up the case group.

Participants were given a food frequency questionnaire for dietary assessments to evaluate dietary behaviors and evaluate the association between whole grain and refined grain intake and the risk of PCAD in individuals without a prior diagnoses of heart disease. After adjusting for confounders, a higher intake of refined grains was associated with an increased risk of PCAD, while whole grain intake was inversely related to reduced risk of PCAD.

“As more studies demonstrate an increase in refined grains consumption globally, as well as the impact on overall health, it is important that we find ways to encourage and educate people on the benefits of whole grain consumption,” Khajavi Gaskarei said. “Tactics to consider include teaching improved dietary choices in schools and other public places in simple language the general population can understand, as well as on television programs and by continuing to do high level research that is presented at medical conferences and published in medical journals. Clinicians must also be having these conversations with each other and their patients.”
