A resident living at Block 620 Bedok Reservoir Road, Ms Wu, moved away from her home after living there for 13 years due to the “unbearable” noise of her neighbour’s parrot, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The 45-year-old woman said that it all started about 1 year ago after her neighbour moved in next door and their parrot would squawk and keep her away.
The bird was apparently kept in a cage that was placed in the corridor, and the neighbours would whistle at the bird to tease it, causing it to squawk.
It then started to become a frequent occurrence, with the family whistling from 7 pm onwards to tease the parrot, who would then squawk in response, going on through the night until about 10 pm.
She found it difficult to sleep and didn’t say anything at first because she wanted to preserve the harmony.
But she finally raised the issue with the owners after the noise got worse and they then brought their parrot inside their home.
But the noise got even worse when the owners would tease the bird early in the morning, and it got unbearable for her and her child who had to go to school in the morning and she had to go to work.
She said that she frequently couldn’t;t go to sleep the whole night due to the noise and dreaded going home after work because she wouldn’t be able to rest.
A counter-terrorism exercise codenamed “Exercise Tidal 2022” was held at Sentosa Cove Village on 30 September 2022. The exercise was organised by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and supported by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and Sentosa Cove Resort Management (SCRM).
Exercise Tidal is one of the many exercises which the Police have conducted on Sentosa Island (Refer to Annex A for list of previous public security exercises conducted on Sentosa Island).
Through a simulated terror attack, the exercise serves to validate the interagency coordination and response, as well as enhance community preparedness in dealing with a terror attack. The Police have been working closely with partner agencies and community stakeholders of Sentosa to enhance their security measures and emergency preparedness against security threats. The stakeholders involved are encouraged to develop contingency plans to deal with terror attacks and to train their staff and tenants to be familiar with the plans.
In the lead up to the exercise, the Police collaborated with SDC and SCRM to conduct refresher SGSecure training on critical survival knowledge, including ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ and Improvised First Aid Skills (IFAS) using ‘Press, Tie & Tell’, to equip and refresh their staff on the relevant knowledge and capabilities to respond effectively in such times of emergency.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Serene Chiu, Commander of Clementi Police Division said, “An effective response to a terror attack will save lives, minimise the impact of the attack and aid recovery. Community vigilance and preparedness are key in keeping ourselves and those around us safe from the terrorism threat. Exercise Tidal 2022 serves to enhance community preparedness in dealing with a terror attack.”
Mr Koh Piak Huat, Divisional Director (Operations) of Sentosa Development Corporation added, “SDC values strong partnership with the SPF and other Home Team agencies as the security of Sentosa is integral to the overall national security framework. Regular joint exercises like Exercise Trident will be essential in strengthening our Sentosa Resilience Framework.”
Strong community networks will enhance vigilance and boost the ability of the community to respond effectively to a crisis together. It is important to have robust contingency response plans to better deter, detect, delay, deny and deal with a terror attack.
Community stakeholders and businesses are encouraged to enhance their emergency preparedness and may refer to the resources listed below for more information:
Facebook user Benjamin Keen Yuan Ng, shared how he bought a Kimchi Fried Rice and an 8-piece “Goodne Deep Cheese” half wings meal from an eatery.
The fried rice set him back $19.26, while the wings cost $20.54.
He lamented how the rice was tasteless and that it was “just OIL” and different from the picture that the eatery posted.
He also shared photos of his food, with the container being half filled with the fried rice; as well as the wings that he received.
He also shared that he paid a total of $50.05 for his unsatisfactory meal.
Here is what he said
I find the price is really outrageous. The fried rice is worst than common fried rice, no taste just OIL. The pic they posted is different from what I gotten.
Order 8 pcs half wings, look what I got? I top up another 3.85 to take half instead of 8 wings.
Total include grab delivery I paid $50.05.
What do you guys think,
Ps: side note, Grab have gotten back to me in regards to the feedback portion.

A spokesperson for the airline told CNA that two of their cabin crew members were attacked near their hotel entrance, but stopped short of mentioning when it happened.
The afflicted victims sustained superficial injuries and were treated by paramedics who arrived on the scene shortly after.
The spokesperson added that the crew members were then sent to a nearby hospital for further treatment, before being sent back to Singapore on the same day and are recuperating at home.
They added that the airlines will be providing all the necessary support to the affected staff members during this time.
At the time of writing, police investigations are ongoing and SIA is cooperating with the authorities on the incident.
I am 27F and have been working in my company for 5 years.
Earlier this year, my manager (CF) mentioned her intention to promote me next year (July 2023) and told me to stay put and not leave before that (in her words, if not I “sibei lugi”).
However, few days ago my colleague (TF) mentioned to me that CF told her to increase my current workload in order to “justify” my promotion.
Not to mention, this promotion is not guaranteed.
FYI, I am in a junior position, and with the possible promotion will be in a senior position. I need advice on whether I’m being taken advantage of taking on more load now while still in the same grade and pay?
Shouldn’t I be appraised for my performance and merits in my current scope? Should I start looking into a job change?
Thank you everyone in advance!

5 years and still in junior position? The best time to leave was 1-2 years ago.
You start interviewing since you already have the desire for a job change. However if you cannot get a ”better” one / higher position, just stay on and wait till you get promoted. This way you have higher negotiating power too.
Every company has their own promotion practices and culture. I’ve seen large companies where employees are not visible to management but have a promotion cap; managers have to demonstrate a lot in order to justify to other teams’ managers for the promotion. I’ve also seen managers take advantage of their staff. So it’s really hard to say, since the promotion process isn’t all that transparent. If I were you, I’d just work hard with the added workload (since there’s not much you can do) and at the same time keep a lookout for interesting roles (recruitment take months anyway). There’s no harm in having more options. When something good comes along, you’re in a position to choose (gives you upper hand to nego) and also decide what fits you best in terms of scope, growth, salary, position and culture.
I am going to break up with my fiance because he didn’t shower for a week.
I’m (21F) going to break up with my fiance (22M) because he didn’t go to the shower for a week.
It all started from small things. We been together for almost 3 years. All this time I had to parent him, clean the house, cook him dinner, even when I come back from work and he is on his day off.
We split rent and all the other money stuff, but I do all the house work and its tiring. I asked him a lot of times to help me around the house or from time to time to cook dinner.
For a week its all golden, but then he comes back to his old ways.
He got used to his mother taking care of him all the time. The last drop of patience was, when I had to ask him to go to shower, because he stinks.
Now he is at his mom for a week, because I said that I need a break. I am tired of living with a child and I think that I don’t love him anymore or maybe I am just still angry.
I don’t know what to do anymore.

You can love someone and maintain some distance between you two. Unfortunately he is taking you for granted, treating you like Mommy v2. It’d be easier to break up now than to go through all the legalities of trying to get divorced down the road.
If you’re still contemplating about this relationship, it’s worth considering postponing the marriage. You do not need to get married “so soon”.
I personally wouldn’t marry a partner that doesnt contribute to the household and relationship, as that will build up resentment down the road.
I studied engineering, but not computer science/engineering. I see so many of my friends from my course taking coding bootcamps and then getting software engineer/data analyst jobs that pay quite a lot, like 4.5k min instead of what most people in my course would get which is 3.8~4k after 2 years (with FCH/deans list– if that even matters anymore lmao). I have been learning some programming basics and am pretty proficient in excel, dashboards, pandas/numpy libraries and i’m going to sign up for a programming bootcamp part-time because fomo.
Is my engineering degree really useless? I worked hard for it and am interested in it, but it seems that it is not as rewarding compensation wise. A part of me also questions being an engineer when i see friends from my course who were kinda lazy in uni, did badly in engineering school, couldn’t get a job during covid so they went for a bootcamp and are now earning more than me. Makes me feel like the effort I put into my degree is wasted? Is only a computer science degree valuable? Is it a tech bubble? Are the tradiational Mechanical/Electrical/Civil engineering degrees not really useful? Do you think engineering jobs will become obsolete?
Feeling uncertain about my future as an engineer. I’m confident that I can do pretty well as a software developer/data scientist given that I can think logically, am good at physics/math, and generally have a good work ethic. Also if my friends could do it then so can I. On the other hand I like my engineering job and I feel like I can grow my technical skills and contribute meaningfully to society. Is it worth switching industries? Why is tech paying so much more than engineering and how can I make my role pay more? I’m hoping to get some real advice from seniors. Thanks
I was contacted on Telegram by a random stranger asking me if I wanted to try a review job. She claimed that the job was easy and I could earn $110 or more daily.
The same usual tactics, I then received a Whatsapp msg and she linked me to a website. Was guided to register (use fake name and contact number as no otp needed)
it’s a very simple website which will generate random hotels for you to rate, just give it a 5 star and you get paid per rating.
I did 30 ratings and earned $11 on my account. The minimum withdrawal was $10 so she guided me to withdrawal the $11 to my paynow.
She then added me into a telegram group whereby every member were sharing their success stories (earning $200+ coz only have 1 hour today, $500+ coz tired after rating for 2 hours… Etc) and raving to continue topping up their experience gold.
She then told me that i have to topup my experience gold in order to continue rating hotels and earning money. It’ll be $111.
I ask her why and she told me it’s to “ensure the authenticity of consumption data and generate effective traffic to increase turnover and visibility of hotels” …
Which I don’t understand what she meant. She then said it’s to ensure that it’s not robots doing the ratings.
Anyway, I turned down the offer and she backed off. The website I registered was quickly taken down the next day.
