SERANGOON HDB BLOCK IN DARKNESS AFTER BLACKOUT, RESIDENT SAYS IT’S LIKE HORROR MOVIE

A HDB building at Block 546 Serangoon North Avenue 3 suffered a mysterious blackout on 28 September, with the whole building being plunged into darkness.

Videos emerged online showing the residents trying to find their way through the darkness with their torchlight in tow.

Residents living on the upper floors also had no choice but to use the stairs to get back to their homes.

TikTok user @neverrreven shared a video of the incident, showing how creepy and eerie the situation was – the entire place was dark even on the ground floor, despite there being light sources from other blocks nearby.

Residents turned on the flashlights on their phones to light up the area as they navigated through the surrounding darkness.

The lifts were also not working, with the LED screens showing “Block 00000”, and he compared the darkness of the estate to being like the Old Changi Hospital, which is famously rumoured to be haunted.

The netizen then showed the eerie atmosphere as he filmed his home from the front door in the darkness.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council apologises

A spokesperson from the Ang Mo Kio town council said that they were alerted to the blackout that affected Block 546 Serangoon North Avenue 3 on 28 September, at about 9.15pm.

They cited the short circuit by one of the lights that caused a power trip at the switch room, resulting in the power failure of the corridor lights of the whole block.

The issue was rectified and power had resumed about 2 hours later at 11.17pm.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council then apologised for the inconvenience to the residents and thanked them for their support and understanding.

GUY DEMANDS GIRL TO MARRY HIM AFTER SHE OPENS TOILET DOOR WHILE HE’S PANGSAI-ING

0

“To the girl who opened the Handicap Toilet’s door wide open while I was taking a huge poop inside.

I just really wanna know if you saw my D. This is keeping me very disturbed. Although it all happened in a few seconds only , I feel that you must have seen it, taking into account the size.

Actually you know, I am a virgin. Never has I ever let someone catch a glance of that. I made a promise to the holy spirit that the only person I will expose it will be the one who I marry to.

And if ever I happen to break that promise, I would never ever think of marriage; I’d adopt celibacy for life.

I don’t wanna die a virgin. I strongly feel I’m cursed now. The only way I can dispel this curse is by marrying each other in the name of the holy father.

Therefore, tomorrow 10 a.m I hope to see you there, same place(NBS), same toilet so that we could discuss how will you save me from this curse.”

[Fire @ Blk 451 Yishun Ring Road]

At about 9:50 a.m., SCDF was alerted to a fire in a 5th floor unit at the abovementioned location.

Upon arrival, the fire was raging inside the unit. SCDF firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets, entered the smoke-logged unit to conduct firefighting and rescue operations. The fire, which involved contents of the living room and a part of the kitchen, was extinguished by SCDF using a water jet.

SCDF rescued five persons from the bedrooms of the affected unit. They were assessed by SCDF paramedics for smoke inhalation, of which two persons also sustained minor burn injuries. All five persons were conveyed by SCDF ambulances to the Singapore General Hospital.

Hamsters found in multiple pet cages in the service yard of the affected unit were also brought out to safety.

Approximately 100 residents from 3rd to 7th floors were evacuated by the Police as a precautionary measure.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire had likely originated from the battery pack of a Power Assisted Bicycle (PAB) in the living room.

SCDF would like to remind the public on the prevention of PMD/PAB fires, including not to charge batteries for an extended period of time or overnight. Do not purchase or use non-original batteries. See the accompanying infographic for more fire safety tips.

We understand that a nearby resident had attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher prior to SCDF’s arrival. We will be in touch with him to commend him for his public spiritedness act.
