0

According to local Indonesian media reports, in a football league held in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, on the evening of the 1st of October, fans of the two teams clashed violently after the game.

After the Arema team lost 2-3 to Persebaya, thousands of Arema fans jumped over the railing and rushed into the stadium causing quarrels and fights. The Persebaya players quickly left the pitch, but several Arema players still on the pitch were attacked.

Riot police rushed in to stop the riot, firing tear gas into the crowd, A stampede occurred after police used tear gas to stop the unrest.

According to the latest data released by the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission, the death toll has risen to 153, including two police officers.

He said that the tear gas caused panic among the fans at the scene, and hundreds of people ran to the exit at the same time, causing some people to suffocate to death in the chaos, and others to stampede.

The East Java provincial police chief has said the death toll is likely to continue to rise as the condition of many of the 180 wounded being treated in hospitals is deteriorating. In this regard, the British media Reuters said “this seems to be one of the worst stadium disasters in the world (in recent years).”

On the 2nd, Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressed his condolences to the victims of the clashes between fans in Malang, East Java, and ordered the suspension of all league games.

Indonesia’s youth and sports minister also said that the authorities will re-evaluate safety-related issues at football matches, or ban fans from watching the matches.

FOREIGNER WITH $60K SAVINGS, WANTS TO BUY HDB UNIT IN S’PORE AS AN INVESTMENT

0

HDB as investment?

Hi Guys, I’m looking to buy a HDB as an investment. Would appreciate some help as I myself am not Singaporean. However my wife and our 2 kids are so I believe we are eligible. I have some basic knowledge of the Singapore market.

Here’s some info about us:

Both under 35 y/o

Looking to BTO (I believe this is where we have to queue/put our names for a ‘chance’ to buy a new HDB)

We have no CPF

Have roughly 60k SGD savings

Want to rent out in the future

Questions:

Is our savings sufficient?

Bank Loan vs HDB loan – I think as we do not have 20% deposit, we have to have a HDB loan, right?

Bank loans – do they offer a loan if all our income is earned overseas?

on HDB loans – why would people want a HDB loan when interest is 1% cheaper usually on bank loans? Is it because of greater deposit required?

Which BTO areas are good? (I want really close to MTR station)

4/5 bedrooms better as investment?

if I complete all my paperwork tonight, is there a long lead time for new HDB units to be built? i.e. Can’t buy one within the next 3 – 6 months?

Any helpful webpages/resources available?

Would appreciate any help you can provide, its hard to understand the intricacies of another country’s market when you’re not in the country.

PARANOID BOSS KICKS STAFF OUT OF COMPANY AFTER SHE HANDS IN NOTICE

0

I(26F) had spent almost 2 yrs working for an online retail small biz.

After putting my 2 weeks notice in I got the cold shoulder from the main owner, the wife. There are 2 owners: a husband (35M) and a wife(34F). The wife was the one who started the business.

She refused to acknowledge my existence for 2 days. She would not speak to me or look at me, to the point that my colleagyes were noticing.

A few of them let me know that the wife had been trying to get more info on why I was leaving & where I was going. This was not new behavior for her. She is notorious for talking about her employees to other employees behind their back, in addition to lots of other mean-girl behaviors.

She broke her silence after 2 days and asked to have a meeting with me and the other owner that same day. While heading to the meeting the wife asked to have a private convo about feelings.

More specifically, her feelings. The convo included her telling me I had hurt her feelings for not letting her know I was looking around for jobs and that I had “pulled the rug out from underneath her” when I put my 2 weeks in. She said I had upset her by not thinking of her feelings in deciding to take a new position.

Then she asked if I was capable of not sabotaging their business during my last week and few days working there.

During this convo, the husband pulled aside a staff & asked if I was “going to do something to their business social pages” (I ran the social media accounts). All bc I put my 2 weeks in.

During my meeting with both owners, my 2 weeks were cut short by 3 days bc they would be on vacation for those last 3 days and said they “do not feel comfortable with me in the building while they’re not.” I want to be VERY CLEAR in that I have NEVER ONCE given them a reason or anything close to thinking that is something I would do or be capable of doing.

They then outlined my priorities for my last week there and what they expect me to get done so they can have content to post after I leave. The meeting ends, I go back to my office. Im upset and tears start. I could not sit there the rest of the day let alone another week making stupid TikTok and Instagram videos for them to post & use while I wont even be working there anymore! Especially after how I had just been treated & spoken to! I let my coworkers know and began to grab my stuff. They helped me take my stuff to my car. As my coworkers are helping & saying bye the wife comes out of her office.

She sees us and asks “what the hell is going on?”At this point, I am SO done. I yelled at her that I’m leaving, and for her to question my character just bc I put a 2 weeks notice in is insulting and unacceptable. While Im saying this, I’m walking towards my car & she’s following me. She is sputtering out words like “thats not what i meant”, “what do you even mean?” etc. I again turned to her and told her she cannot treat people like shit and expect them to stay. Got in my car, slammed the door and pulled away. Everyone saw. AITA for making a scene and yelling at my boss? Did I let my emotions get the best of me?

25 Y.O WOMAN HAVING “MID LIFE CRISIS” – EARNS $700/MTH, NO DEGREE & CAN’T GO UNI

0

Mid Life crisis, no degree, poor GPA, don’t know what to do.

Actually more like quarter life because of misclick

25F and going to be 26 soon, I’ve obtained diploma from NAFA in 2020 in the middle of circuit breaker and had very poor GPA (2.3). Honestly I was partially expecting poor GPA in year 2 since my mental health problems relapsed at that point.

After graduating from school, I went to work in several temporary/part time jobs that were somewhat related to what I studied. With a salary of $700 – $900/month I didn’t have enough to pay for my medical bills, and bi-monthly visits to the hospital (I have a physical chronic illness as well since I was 14, but it’s manageable).

Even people with no work experience are earning more than my total monthly payout. Everything just seems so futile no matter how hard I try. It didn’t help that there’s no one in my family that really understood what I was going through or help me with my problems. I’ve tried to go for therapy and career counselling, but neither seem to work because it was difficult to articulate these thoughts in a way that they could understand, and each session felt so limited. Looking for therapists is especially difficult when the hospitals are always booked.

When I see online posts that recommend on going for a degree, I can’t help but feel that maybe a degree is what I’m currently missing and not fully ready for the working world.

Finding other jobs is really difficult if I don’t have a degree and education is not getting cheaper, but with my issues, I don’t know if I could cope with going back to school when I barely scraped by during my diploma. I am afraid of the possibility of dropping out again and wasting time and money on Uni.

There’s still the question on what degree I should take, since I had failed in trying to get into NAFA’s degree programmes for two years and it didn’t seem worth pursuing because it didn’t feel like it will add any more value to my employability.

I don’t know if I could afford to try something new because I have been out of mainstream education for so long and may have difficulty learning technical subjects.

PRC MAN SPENDS ALMOST S$4K ON MATTRESS AFTER FALLING ASLEEP ON TEST BED

0

Imagine falling asleep in a furniture store. Most salespeople would most probably kick the customer out of the shop but the sales assistant did otherwise.

After the man who tested the bed fell asleep in the shop, the sales assistant was also kind enough to help the man cover a blanket before turning off the lights.

The brother of the customer told Chinese media:

“After my brother woke up, he spent 19,000 to buy a mattress”

The incident took place on September 27, Lishui, Zhejiang. When the man tried the mattress, he fell asleep and snored. The store turned off the lights and covered it with a blanket. After the man woke up, he bought the mattress for 19,000 yuan. Which is approximately SGD$3,823

In an interview, the store said: “He slept there, fell asleep and started snoring. Then the clerk turned off the lights and gave him the blanket. When he woke up, he bought the mattress and spent more than 19,000 yuan.

The shop owner told the story to the media and showed a receipt of 23,500 yuan which is around S$4,729.

WOMAN MAKING $100K A YEAR SAYS SHE WILL ONLY DATE GUYS MAKING THE SAME

0
I make 6 figures and am never going to date another man who doesn’t make at or very close to what I make… How do you even meet men that are in the same tax bracket as you?

Hi all – I’m on the precipice of breaking up with a partner of 5 years. While I’m going to be out of the dating game for some time to recoup, find myself again, etc., the future feels a little bleak for dating.

I’ve been making leaps and bounds in my career for the last year or so, and it got to a point where I’m working on things like FIRE, expanding one of my business ventures through hiring people, and a number of other things.

I realized that this time around, it’s really important for me to find a partner who’s where I’m at (or close to it) financially, as this hasn’t been the case in the current relationship… while it’s not the only reason I’m breaking up with him (probably like 15% of it), it has been pretty big.

How the hell does anyone find men that are in the same or a similar place where you are financially?

I’m in my mid-20s and make 6 figures (software eng), and I was telling my friend about this whole situation. She laughed and told me that she doubts that I’ll be single forever or anything, but that it’ll probably be pretty difficult finding a guy my age that makes what I do.

It’s important to me because of the lifestyle I want to have – I want to go on adventures/travel and have a nice dinner from time to time and not have to have an argument over getting a necessary service done (like a $200 pest control bill – yes, he fought me on this, even though he makes more than enough to split this bill with me). This man has only started taking me on dates after being brow-beaten to do so for FIVE. YEARS.

We have literally never been on a trip together that wasn’t us going for a medical reason, funeral, or for a relative’s wedding, etc. (and even that was only once). Sure, a “poorer man” can do these things, but I’m not down to wait until he saves for 6 months to be able to afford going somewhere with me. I was poor my whole life up until like 3 years ago… I’ve “roughed it” my whole life involuntarily.

I don’t want to have a million nights in, have cheap or free dates, or never do anything new and unique because he doesn’t want to/can’t spend money. I have literally 0 problems with doing these things (they’re still fun) – I just don’t want this to HAVE to be the only thing they do because he can’t afford not doing this stuff. I’m not trying to be a Barb the Builder anymore either and be forced to push him to grow, give a shit, etc. If he’s got his own money, he won’t be in my pockets.

I’d like to be with someone that has at least a little ambition… not “potential”, but ambition. It’s so, so easy to find dudes that “are working on a business right now” but really, it’s just an idea in their notebook. Or “are on the come-up”, but aren’t working towards higher education, training/certification, etc. I want someone with passion and a career. Where do you even meet people like this? All I can think of is Tinder, and I hear online dating is a cesspool (plus, I doubt any well-off 20-somethings that aren’t trying to just screw around will be on there anyway).

RACIST ANGMOH TAUNTS S’PORE GIRL IN BALI – “YOU’RE SCARED OF ME CAUSE I’M ENGLISH”

S’porean TikTok user @fu.wari shared how she was taking photos during her holiday in Bali when she and her friends got harassed by a racist English woman.

The incident happened on the first day of the girl’s holiday with her friends in Bali, where she was taking photos with her friends at Penny Lane, Bali.

An English woman then exited from a cubicle inside the toilet, and asked them if “this was all (they) did with (their) life”.

The woman then asked Fuwari and her friends in a “condescending tone” if they were influencers or K-Pop idols, to which the group then joked that they were “J-Pop” idols instead.

Fuwari said that they were being very cool and didn’t want to engage in the conversation with the racist woman because she was trying got make them feel bad about taking pictures of themselves.

The woman then asked them to speak in Japanese if they were “J-Pop” idols, and the group then ignored her and continued taking photos.

She then tried to provoke the group further and get them to speak to her in Japanese, which the group refused, and the woman then said “oh you guys are so elusive, do you even know what elusive means?”

Fuwari then retorted that they did speak English, and the woman then hit back, saying “oh I doubt so,” before asking them to define the meaning of the word “elusive” if they knew the language.

Fuwari then told the woman then she didn’t owe her an explanation, and the woman then went on saying that the group couldn’t speak English.

She then told them “you’re scared of me because I’m English.”

The woman then continued harassing the group and Fuwari then started recording the woman, before she eventually left them alone and left the scene.

SERANGOON HDB BLOCK IN DARKNESS AFTER BLACKOUT, RESIDENT SAYS IT’S LIKE HORROR MOVIE

A HDB building at Block 546 Serangoon North Avenue 3 suffered a mysterious blackout on 28 September, with the whole building being plunged into darkness.

Videos emerged online showing the residents trying to find their way through the darkness with their torchlight in tow.

Residents living on the upper floors also had no choice but to use the stairs to get back to their homes.

TikTok user @neverrreven shared a video of the incident, showing how creepy and eerie the situation was – the entire place was dark even on the ground floor, despite there being light sources from other blocks nearby.

Residents turned on the flashlights on their phones to light up the area as they navigated through the surrounding darkness.

The lifts were also not working, with the LED screens showing “Block 00000”, and he compared the darkness of the estate to being like the Old Changi Hospital, which is famously rumoured to be haunted.

The netizen then showed the eerie atmosphere as he filmed his home from the front door in the darkness.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council apologises

A spokesperson from the Ang Mo Kio town council said that they were alerted to the blackout that affected Block 546 Serangoon North Avenue 3 on 28 September, at about 9.15pm.

They cited the short circuit by one of the lights that caused a power trip at the switch room, resulting in the power failure of the corridor lights of the whole block.

The issue was rectified and power had resumed about 2 hours later at 11.17pm.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council then apologised for the inconvenience to the residents and thanked them for their support and understanding.
