I’m being sued for bankruptcy and company winding up petition. What can I do to avoid being a bankrupt and winding up of the company?

As per title. Serious discussion only. I’m being sued by a bank for bankruptcy as well as to wind up my company, which I am the sole director of.

Prior to Covid, my company had taken on a business loan for expansion purposes. Being the sole director I was the only guarantor.

Covid impacted the business with sales slumping to very low levels, and even so I kept the company running through all sorts of cost cutting means including taking no salary and utilizing all company plus personal savings, to maintain the business.

All was ok until 4 months ago when everything depleted and I missed repayments to the bank.

I am now being sued for bankruptcy and am being served a petition to wind up the company.

I have started back on full time work since 3 months ago, most of my salary goes to my living expenses.

With the full time salary, I also earn enough to pay for the bank repayments if need be. This is last resort to avoid being declared a bankrupt.

The company sales are starting to pick up again and we are able to pay all overheads and expenses. We can start repaying this bank again using company funds if I can get the bank to agree to loan restructure.

I have tried to restructure the loan with the bank previously but was turned down because we didn’t have money to make some payments first to get the deal done. Now we have.

My bankruptcy and company winding up hearing is in 3 weeks time.

How do I make an appeal to avoid both? Especially since I am back to full time employment now and do not want bankruptcy to affect my status.

I also still want to maintain ownership of my company because I have spent 4 years building it up, fought through two years of very bad business landscape, and now the business is starting to pick up again.

I’ve been slowly and quietly losing weight and becoming more active without telling anyone. 20kg down.
I (27F) have been obese most of my life. I grew up with a single mom who didn’t have time to cook so my grandfather would bring over fast food and snacks and I packed on weight quickly, and developed binge eating disorder.

As I put on weight I resented the way I was treated for my size. I was called an embarrassment. The boys in my class would physically grab the fat on my body and jiggle it and laugh. If I wore “unflattering” clothes everyone laughed at me. I’ve been rejected many many times for my size.

But I resented the idea of trying to lose weight because I didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of harassing me into becoming an idea body type.

I did become confident in my size. And I honestly stopped hating how I looked. But, I didn’t like that when I flew, i often needed a seatbelt extender. I didn’t like squeezing myself as close to the window as possible to make sure I didn’t encroach in my seat-mate’s space (I fly a lot for work- 20-30x a year, so this was a big issue). I didn’t like not hanging out with my friends if they were doing physical activities because I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep up and I’d embarrass myself.

So, I started quietly trying to lose weight. I started eating cleaner, making healthier substitutes. And in the beginning of this year, I started eating in a calorie deficit. By that alone, I lost 20kg.

Now that I lost that much weight, I am now physically feeling more capable of working out. Earlier this week I went kayaking. Today, I went for a really long walk, some of that through a hiking trail. And I felt great after both.

I was 157cm tall and 140kg at my highest. And now I’m 120kg. I’m still obese. I have a lot to go. But I’ve done this totally quietly and privately without telling anyone in my life. I didn’t do it for any one’s approval. But I did it for me, and I’m actually making great progress.

And I just wanted to share that because I still don’t want to talk about it with the people in my life (tho, they are noticing), but wanted to tell someone.

My MIL constantly compares my family and hers as far as the ways in which my husband interacts with my family versus his. She will say things to my husband like, “you go on more vacations with your wife’s family” or “you like your wife’s mom more than me.”

His grandfather has said to him, “I had a great relationship with my in-laws, but you still need your family.” It has almost created this awkward divide between the two families. I feel like my family is looked at in a negative way.

The way I see it, my husband has more people to love and support him and that fact doesn’t take anything away from his family. It’s not like he declines seeing his family for mine. Holidays are split so we see both sides. My family lives a few hours closer but that’s about it.

My husband re-connected with his biological father over 10 years ago. His stepdad has been in his life for 18 years. My MIL told my husband it’s disrespectful to his stepdad to have his real dad be so involved in his life (like attending our wedding).

Before I met my husbands extended family, my MIL told me she told them I’m too good for the family and then laughed. I hadn’t even met them yet and there was this ‘judgement’ put into their heads.

Is this normal behavior when kids move and get married? He’s an only child. I cringed when I heard what his mom and grandfather said to him. Why do that to him? It’s a no win situation.

Edit to add: I have no clue what her intent is but I’m sure it is to make herself feel better. I also think she will test my husband to see what he will and won’t do.

Example: She told him she was calling him weekly and if she ‘forgot’ to call, he calls her (this was right after we got married). My husband laughed and changed the subject. She called 4 weeks in a row and then after a few weeks of silence, he randomly got a text saying “I called you four times, why haven’t you called me? Don’t you want to talk to me and see how I am? Don’t you miss me? Don’t you think of me? If you won’t call and put in effort, I’m done.” A few days later, his grandfather called him and said, “she just wants to be a part of your life.”

Edited again to add: She sent him a text tonight stating “You are MY son and no one else’s. I took care of you and made sure you were okay. You are pushing away a mother who loves you more than life itself. Think about the kids who have no parents to love them.”

I wish someone was stalker/obsessed with me.

Hear me out. All I am saying is I would not mind if someone was obsessed with me / even a stalker to me.

Listen dont care how stupid this sounds, I am so attention starved / lonely so idc anymore. All i want a guy to be obsessed with me & even stalk me.

I mean its reassuring in a way. Reassuring that someone actually cares and i would actually be special / important to someone & that I actually mean something to someone. & someone could be obsessed with me is like flatrering & how cute.

This is kinda embarrassing but basically, my mum gave me $20k sgd to invest in Singapore stocks (for her) and bc of my past experience and greed I chose to do options and used risky tools.

I am at a lost and am seeking for options. I don’t want to tell my mum because she would be very angry and mad at me (although it’s 100% my fault) and probably kick me out of the house.

This is kinda tragic which is why I am thinking of earning back the money to repay her as soon as possible. what do you think I can do? I am also thinking of using the tuition loan to give her back the money.

When you finally make back the principal, return it to your parents and tell them everything. Its a good lesson fee *trust me bro*. I racked up huge losses on my own as well and it hurts. One fine day i received a random text from a stranger who claim that she is from IMPOSSIBLE MARKETING goes like this “congratulation, you are invited to join our program to earn $110 to $500 at your free time”.

I inquired more about the job and it is basically just to follow and like a INSTAGRAM USER THEY POSTED IN THEIR TELEGRAM WORK GROUP that consist of 100 workers AND screenshot the proof to them than they will pay now you $6 for ever 3 successful follows.

with only 25 tasks per day and to encourage all member who continuous completed 12 tasks a day will get an extra bonus of $18.88 and complete all 25 tasks will get an extra $58.88. how simple it is, i went ahead to apply their workgroup and did a few task they posted and true enough i get paid $6 for every 3 Instagrammers who I sucessfully followed.

However, in between the 25 tasks, there were 3 prepaid task group projects where they were recruiting different ips to assist in hyping their clients’ cryptocurrencies and they required the users to pre-pay them first and their money will be returned back to them after 10 mins with commission.

The red flag here is that the commission is a lot;

Second red flag is users will than start posting their screenshot that they have to transfer their money and some posts that they have received their money with the commission,

The third red flag was that after earning like $120+ on my third day, another user from the same workgroup messaged me and asked me about this prepaid task, then i replied him telling him that it was safer not to engage in the prepaid task and just do the normal instragram follower tasks. A few mins later i was dismissed by the workgroup and the admin told me that my job is done.

So now, i know their scam tactics is that they first paid me for the simple instragram job to convience me that they are legit and those users who post the screenshot for the prepaid task are their own people try to lure me into their scam than they will act like a normal user to dig info from you to check if you know it’s a scam. Any job that requires you to pay first is a scam!

So she’s off to university and Where her halls are is about a 20-minute walk away. At the moment its not too bad but come winter it can be quite dark.

Most of the route is well lit however the last 5-10 minutes you walk through a bit of a rough estate and next to a park.

Losing $70,000 to a scammer

I know a girl on FB, start chatting with her, about 2 WEEKS later she TOLD me she EARNED $500+ during our chat and she approached me to join her in the investment.

She helped me twice with the investment and made me $182 by putting in a total of $1200 within 2 hours time respectively.

She convinced me to invest $20,000 in order to get high returns within a shorter time period, and on that day there were rewards of $4,888 if invest $30,000 and she said she could share $5000 to make up the 30000 and she expect to share $1888 from the reward.

But finally, she told me it was too late unable to invest. The next day, she said only $60,000 then can do the investment and we do the last investment, will take back all our money.

So I put in $20,000 more and she does the investment during the night. About an hour later she told me can do the withdrawal. When I do the withdrawal at the website, the customer told me my account is frozen and needed to top up 50% of my withdrawal amount of $69,772.

This is when I realised it was a scam.

This is a cryptocurrency investment scam. In nov 2021, i was matched with a handsome guy on coffee meet bagels named justin lee. His profile says he is an r&d manager in a clean energy company. With a ntu master’s degree. The relationship goal is marriage.

Similar to other scam stories you read here. This person quickly asked for your WhatsApp information, saying he is busy and not always checking cmb. Say good morning, good night, and chat with you every day, showing they care about your wellbeing and gradually gaining your trust.

Expressed strong feelings for you and said that he wanted to build a family with me. Started to talk about crypto investment on day2 and tried to get me invest in a crypto short futures trading platform called xm (https://www.xmpra.com/#/). You need to contact customer service via whatsapp to deposit and withdraw money (to or from another user’s bank account, which is weird). Initially the amount was small like 1k for a 60s futures investment (following his instruction at his calculated time) and you did see profits. However, he asked me to invest more in order to profit more. My bank rejected the transaction and filed a police report. I listened and pulled my money out from the platform.

But somehow i still trusted the guy because he said he already planned a really nice meeting for us and continued to chat with him, because he stopped asking me to invest in this platform after my objection. However, he later introduced me to mining in coinbase wallet. Since it is legitimate, i started to do that and did see profits. He soon asked me if i could borrow him some money to do a big investment and will give my money back on the next day. I did but he found different reasons to ask me for more and showed that he was investing on the xm platform for me and even shared the account password with me to assure me. The money doubled and he said he will withdraw. However, he said that a 28k usd tax needs to be paid in order to withdraw the money and shared his chat with the customer service, after i asked.

I just wanted to get my money back so i sent the tax money they asked for. Then he blocked me and the customer service also blocked me on Whatsapp.
