MAN LEARN IT THE HARD WAY TO NEVER “LEND” MONEY OR ITEM TO ANYONE

0

Never “lend” money to anyone. If someone is in need of financial assistance, and they come to you asking for money, you shouldn’t lend it to them. If you want to maintain a friendship, treat it like a gift.

Can’t afford to gift the money? Then you can’t afford to lend them the money either.

I lent a very expensive item to a sibling because she asked me. Then she went through a bitter divorce and I didn’t want to trouble her for it. After she kept the item for much longer than agreed to, I asked for its return.

She revealed that she sold it because she needed the money. She apologized and promised to pay for it.

That was 20 years ago. She refuses to follow through on her promise because she says I didn’t ask politely. This woman has a degree works in a reputable company, and now speaks publically on personal integrity issues.

Sometimes I just want to expose her so I can feel better but…

I’m not interested in revenge. Revenge quickly becomes a cancer. Anyone ever notice how revenge feels good only in anticipation, and then it tends to escalate the response? During the intervening years, I’ve been blessed to have enjoyed the generosity, kindness and love of more than enough people to make up for this one act of selfishness.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Sounds like she never intended to pay back at all. We call that strapping where I’m from I tell you what.
  • It’s more fundamental than that. This is a very human condition. You can rationalize anything you want to be true. So people usually use this ability to rationalize things that benefit them.
  • She probably intended to give it back initially. But that changed when it became beneficial for her to sell it. Then she rationalizes. This is very pervasive behavior in humans.
  • Sometimes personal integrity just means being an immutable wall, unwilling to change.

NETIZEN WARN NOT TO HELP FRIENDS INVEST AS YOU MIGHT BE BLAMED FOR LOSSES

0

My friend wants me to invest his money with me long-term.

I’m 33, my friend is about 10 years older. He is interested/intrigued by my long term investing goals. But is unwilling to learn how to do it on his own.

I offered to show him how to invest in index funds (my primary strategy) and told him about their past performance. He says that he just wants me to mirror my account in his portfolio. I may be able to push him into opening an account, but he probably will just want me to do everything for him.

I believe he understands the risks involved in investing, and that he wouldn’t hold a market crash against me. But I’m unsure of the legal implications and whether It’s even possible. I wouldn’t want to put money in his tax if it counted against my contributions.

I have heard “don’t mix friends and business” all my life, but I don’t know what to do here.

Should I do this?

Honestly that’s all I needed to hear, I didn’t want to do it anyway! Thank you all!

Here are what netizens think:

  • Definitely don’t do it, if you make money “he is a genius” if you lose “you are an idiot” either way doesn’t end well for you.
  • I would never do anyone’s investing for them. If it goes good they will be happy, if it goes bad they will blame you.
  • My older friend got me into investing. After I told him i had started and it had gone up he immediately told me to sell so I wouldn’t blame him in the event of a crash.
  • He can open an account with an investment firm and pay a fee to have his money invested by someone who is paid to make financial decisions.

CHANGI AIRPORT: DEPARTING PASSENGERS TO PAY HIGHER FEES & LEVIES FROM 1 NOV

0

If you travel out of Singapore’s Changi Airport starting in November, you’ll have to pay an average of an extra S$7 in airport taxes and levies.

The Passenger Service and Security Fee (PSSF) and Aviation Levy (AL) levied on travellers departing from Changi Airport will rise on November 1, 2022. These taxes and levies will support Changi Airport Group’s (CAG) operations, present infrastructure upgrades of terminals, and future expansion plans, as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s air hub development and regulatory activities (CAAS).

According to plans made in 2018, the PSSF for OD passengers flying from Changi Airport would be S$35.40 in 2020, S$37.90 in 2021, and S$40.40 in 2022. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheduled increases in 2021 and 2022 were canceled, and the OD PSSF has stayed at S$35.40 from 1 April 2020.

From 1st November

To meet the greater cost of operations, the OD PSSF will be modified to S$40.40 on 1 November 2022, S$43.40 on 1 April 2023, and S$46.40 on 1 April 2024. As previously reported, the Landing, Parking, and Aerobridge (LPA) costs for all planes operating at Changi Airport will increase by 2% from November 1, 2022, and by another 1% each year on April 1, 2023, and 2024.

In addition to assisting CAG’s operations, the PSSF and LPA fees fund growth plans and infrastructure upgrades at existing terminals, which have been ongoing during the epidemic.

WOMAN BOUGHT RING ONLINE, PAID FOR POSTAGE BUT ITEM NOT DELIVERED, BLOCKED ON FB

0

Facebook user Alviana Nana shared about an unpleasant experience that she had while shopping online, where she paid for postage and her item was not delivered.

The seller is claiming that they didn’t receive her last postage payment, and eventually after waiting for about a month with no updates, the seller asked Nana to pay for postage again and they will then deliver her items.

She then told them she didn’t want the items anymore and asked them for a refund, and Nana was then blocked on Facebook by them.

Here is what she said

I want to share a story about my bad shopping experience with Love Estella Jewels Facebook page that’s based in Singapore.

On 6th July

Ordered a dark mystic moissanite ring from them, made payment of the item and postage immediately on the same day.

On 10th July

Add on order for a gunmetal grey moissanite ring and make payment immediately on the same day too.

Between 6 to 10 July they did not mail out my first item. After I add on another item, between 10 to 12 July there was no update from them as well. After that I was told that their system automatically offset the postage fee paid for my second item. Like I wasn’t aware? So I immediately top up the shortage on 12 July just so that can proceed to mail out my items. Clean cut.

But between 12 to 17 July there was COMPLETELY NO UPDATES from them again. So I have to chase them again. I was notify that they did not received my last postage payment as it did not reflect on their system, and they told me to wait and they will check with HITPAY. I patiently agree.

From 17 to 23 July, they did not update me again. On 23 July they told me they will get back to me once they received my money from hit pay.

So after all the wait for about a month, on 30 July they told me to pay for postage ONE MORE TIME and they will mail out my items together. This is where I’m losing my patience. I even suggest to them to refund me and I don’t want the items anymore, because I paid everything and cart out on time, been very patience with you for almost a month and I did not get my full refund back even till date and not receiving my items. They just push everything to hitpay and throw me hitpay’s email address and BLOCKED me on Facebook messenger like this? So they don’t have to be responsible for it anymore. This is just very disappointing.

All I can say is, shop at your own risk at Love Estella Jewels Facebook page.

Netizens’ comments

  • Isit they gave two different UENs? Coz ur payment to them the UEN is 2016.. whereas they stated that their UEN is 2020…
  • I do purchases from them and never had any issue .. as long as u indicated on the payment page if to mail out or accumulate (which they allow) they will action accordingly to wat was being selected..
  • Have shopped with them on multiple occasions and no issues thus far. Instructions were pretty straightforward and postage prices were clearly stated. They even gave you the option to accumulate your purchases to $80 to enjoy free Smartpac.
Been using the 2020 UEN since they changed to the new system earlier this year. Might be a misunderstanding between seller and buyer. Hope it gets resolved soon.
  • Did you made transfer to a wrong uen account? The uen they gave you is different from the one you sent the money to..

MAN WANTED TO DONATE 12KG OF FOOD TO FOOD BANK, REACHED THERE BUT THERE’S NO COLLECTION POINT

0

Facebook user Andrew Ng shared how he wanted to donate nutritional milk to the Food Bank of Singapore and saw on their website that there was a collection point at VivoCity.

He called their hotline to confirm and was allegedly told by a lady on the phone that they have a collection point at VivoCity’s FairPrice.

He then brought his carton of 24 cans of nutritional milk that weighed 12 kg, and when he reached there, he found no collection point.

he then called the hotline again and was later told that FairPrice didn’t have a collection point, and he was then directed elsewhere without an apology for his wasted trip.

Here is what he said

I want to point out the utter unprofessionalism of The Food Bank Singapore. Today I wanted to donate a carton of nutritional milk.

I went to their website and checked that there is a collection point at Vivocity FairPrice. I called their hotline and the lady who answered confirmed that they do I have a collection point there.

I lugged my carton of 24 cans, more than 12 kgs, and surprise, there is NO collection point.

I called them again and this time the lady checked and said FairPrice did not put out the collection point, I am directed to somewhere else, without so much as an apology for giving me wrong information earlier.

The management of this organisation is utterly unprofessional and their website information is rubbish.

TODDLER SENT HOME FROM SCHOOL FOR COUGHING & FLU, UPSET MUM SAYS CHILD IS FINE

0

A disgruntled mother shared how her daughter was sent home from school after the teacher said that her child was coughing and had a runny nose.

Toh was unhappy and said that her child had just recovered and insisted that her daughter was fine, and shared that she was jumping and playing around with no problems.

She then got into an argument with the teacher over the issue, before picking up her child, and asked “why is my daughter getting such treatment?”

Here is what she said (SIC)

Hi guys, please allow me to rant here I really cannot take it liao – I need it the truth to it the air!!

So 2 weeks ago, we heard one or twice coughing from our daughter Colette. Being the many beaten many shy mother which have many encounters with my daughter’s childcare, we quickly rushed to our family doctor to consult.

Obviously it was a start of a minor cold but we need to do our part (not complaining) on top of that kid cough usually takes time so we went to our family TCM too for Chinese medicine.

Obviously my daughter got well and we even went to Thailand for a short vacation:). Of cos once in awhile my daughter still have mucus back flow resulted her in coughing but nothing alarming bcos even her mucus is transparent – no signs of infection.

So we came back yesterday, 14 September and did our part performed an ART we’re well.

This morning as usual routine check all well and off she goes to school. But coming close near lunch time, we received a text from school – “Hi Colette’s mummy, Colette has runny nose and has been coughing constantly. She doesn’t seem to be feeling very well. Kindly make arrangements to pick her up. Thank you!”

We were surprised! Cos she just recovered and the only medication she has is from TCM that noruish her lungs! So how could this be happening?!?!?

Long story short, I put up a saga with the teacher over WhatsApp and picked up my daughter. But look I haven’t heard a single cough nor mucus dip (coming 2hrs liao) from nose the rest see the TikTok video we just did.

We fully understand everyone is still on alert but why is my daughter getting such treatment? Should I be thankful and came to understand that my daughter’s childcare does play favouritism? And she isn’t coughing constantly bcos I haven’t heard any from the time I picked her up till writing such long winded message :((((((((

97 Y.O MAHATHIR ON QUEEN ELIZABETH’S DEATH – “SHE’S ONLY 1 YEAR YOUNGER THAN ME”

0

97-year-old former prime minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said in a Facebook post that he was saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

He expressed how the late Queen was always gracious and that it was a pleasure hosting her whenever she visited Malaysia.

Mahathir added that he didn’t expect her to pass away, saying that “she was only one year younger than me.”

Mahathir’s Facebook

THE QUEEN

1. I am saddened by the death of the Queen. Only two days before she had received in audience the new PM of the UK.

2. I had met her on many occasions, especially during meetings of the British Commonwealth.

3. In particular I remembered her laughing at my joke about the English language. In Zimbabwe I made a speech in which I pointed out that what is said in English is not what is meant.

4. Thus the presiding officer in Parliament is called Mr. Speaker, but he may not speak.

5. The Malay sultans are called the rulers but they may not rule. The British adviser ruled.

6. Then there is the British Commonwealth where the wealth is not common.

7. That speech was broadcast by the BBC when the Queen celebrated her golden jubilee. The Queen laughed.

8. The Queen visited Malaysia twice when I was Prime Minister. Once when we hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and once during the Commonwealth Games.

9. The Queen was always gracious and hosting her was a pleasure.

10. I really did not expect her to pass away when she did. She was only one year younger than me.

11. She was a good example of a constitutional monarch. Her passing away is a loss not just to the British but to people who believe in the rule of law.

12. May she rest in peace.
